Wow! I never see the KMod twist coming. She literally gets me every single time. I was lucky enough to get The Stanger on the audiobook version, and let me tell you, it was amazing. The narrators did a fantastic job! It completely felt like you were living this wild ride, right alongside the main characters! A must-read or listen, you won't regret it.

The stranger by Kiersten Modglin is a thriller that makes you think every single person is the suspect and then, of course, goes in a completely different direction. Very enjoyable!!

4.5 stars

Pros:

I would normally say that multiple points of view aren’t needed but here they give the story an almost cinematic quality and add to the tension.

The red herrings, twists and turns and secrets in this story are excellent. There are so many times it could have been one person or another or you were sure it had to be this person or that.

For the audio version I don’t believe it could have worked without having the multiple narrators and the killer’s voice was so perfectly eerie.

Cons:

It felt like a fast finish but most horror books and movies are, it’s just a personal preference that I would have liked more wrap up.

A great quick listen/read. 3 POVs: Tibby, Walker, and Unknown. The whole story takes place one night during a snow storm. Tibby is constantly questioning who can be trusted. Walker instantly feels protective and responsible for Tibby. And the Unknown narrator is proof that there is a dangerous serial killer on the loose.

This had great suspense and pace. The reveal was a little bit of a let down. Just not as exciting as the build up. If it were a longer book it would have been nice to get to know/connect more with the killer before the reveal of who it is.

There are 3 different voice actors narrating. I preferred the female narrator. It was confusing having two narrators, both doing voices for Walker and Tibby, but the narrator changed depending on if was a Walker-chapter or Tibby-chapter.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing this ARC. This review is being shared on NetGalley and Goodreads.

I love this author so much. This audiobook though - it is extra fun. I was giggling when we got to the "bad guy" parts and I loved Walker's obsession with this girl. I totally got her too.
What a joy this was for me.

Thank you for the ARC of this book.

I liked how this book was shorter and faster paced. I did not guess the ending and liked the characters to guess from. Creepy audio which added to the storyline well. Over all a good book.

Listening to the audiobook was a deeply immersive experience for me.

As the story unfolded through my headphones, I found myself completely engrossed in a world of suspense and intrigue. The narrator skillfully brought the protagonist's fears to life, evoking a range of emotions within me. With each twist and turn, I was on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what would happen next.

The protagonist's journey resonated with me on a profound level. Their struggles and uncertainties felt all too real, and I couldn't help but empathize with their plight. It was as if I was right there beside them, navigating through the challenges and dangers they faced.

The way the narrator captured the essence of the protagonist's emotions was truly remarkable. I could feel their fear, their determination, their moments of doubt, and their triumphs as if they were my own. It was a testament to the narrator's talent and the author's skillful storytelling.

This audiobook was a captivating experience that transported me to another world, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Everyone in this short, creepy thriller is a stranger - and one of them is a serial killer

On his way home to see his family (so he says) Walker sees Tibby walking along the highway. She had a fight with her boyfriend (so she says) and he drove off

Tibby clearly doesn’t trust Walker, but he just wants to help her - I kinda get Tibby and didn’t trust Walker either - why’s he so kind? Why does he care so much about a stranger? His hero complex kind of annoyed me, but it did add to the mystery

The storm forces them to stop at a motel - more strangers and frightening shenanigans!

The audiobook is amazing - there are three narrators, and the third, the crazy ass serial killer has a terrifying distorted voice that really freaked me out, so listen to the audiobook if you can

The reveal was ok and the ending was fine…. It felt a little anti climatic to me and not quite as clever as I’d hoped

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for access to this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review

Twisty, dark, and suspenseful. KMod always has something up her sleeve. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book. Loved the woman narrator in this one also!

Kiersten Modglin is my go-to when I want to pick up a thrilling, twisty read that I’m guaranteed to enjoy, and each book is better than the last! This was a short, twisty read that you can wrap up in one afternoon. Oh my goodness, SO good! As the story begins, you might think it’s going to be a pretty predictable thriller that follows the typical plot line, but NOPE. The narrators were phenomenal and the production was just perfect! The story is told from 3 POVs: Tibby, Walker, and the killer. The narration was perfection! I loved it! Thank you to NetGalley and to Dreamscape Media for this arc of the audio version of The Stranger by Kiersten Modglin. I’m so grateful for the opportunity!

Wow! Kiersten Modglin has done it again. I am obsessed with her books and her storytelling. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen and review this audiobook.

This was a thriller, where a woman has to decide to trust or run from a stranger who tried helping her when she was out in the cold, alone. She’s suspicious of him for much of the book, but the two start to build a relationship while trying to stay safe in a blizzard. Meanwhile, an unknown character’s POV is told throughout the story, making the reader wonder who it is, and how this person ties into the story.

This audiobook was amazing, and I loved the narrators. I also loved how the flashbacks in the POV of the unknown character were done in a creepy tone/background sound. It made my skin crawl!

I loved this book and it was a super short listen. Highly recommend!

'Everyone is a stranger…'. This simple and chilling premise sets sets the tone for this short and gripping read.

A serial killer on the loose, a deadly snowstorm, and an isolated motel make for a harrowing journey for Tibby and Walker. I really enjoyed this dark thriller, which I finished in one sitting. The author did an amazing job of creating a truly discomforting reading experience - leaving you completely guessing until the end (which I did not see coming).

The narration was excellent, and gave the story the feel of an old-timey radio serial. It was easy to follow each of the characters, and I liked how the narration played into the twist at the end. I'd highly recommend this audiobook to anyone looking for a quick, claustrophobic, and creepy thriller.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

I flew through this audiobook!! It was my first Kiersten Modglin book and I am beyond happy with it. I need more Kiersten in my life now. It was a great introduction to her writing style.

I’m a big fan of dual narrations and this one had a “third” that I wasn’t expecting when I first heard it. Such a thrilling listen! From the very first paragraph I wanted to know what was going on, I was INVESTED. I would 100% recommend this to all my thriller lovers. I was guessing the whole time and convinced myself for once I knew the twist… I was wrong and, as usual, I loved it! A fun read for sure.

Thanks so so much NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.

This is a book heavy on #whocanyoutrust

Its twisty, just like all KMod books. It’s also much more atmospheric than her other books. Think cold, think blizzard…think cell towers down! 😱

This one was just ok for me when I read the physical copy but I just did the audio and I think I preferred that format for this particular book. I ADORE KMod, I just like some of her other books better than this one.

I wanted more character development but for the length of this audiobook it worked.

There were a couple of characters (I’m talking end scene) with some animosity going on and it seemed deeper than surface level or one up man ship type stuff. I could be wrong, maybe it was supposed to just be surface afterall but it seemed like something was missing, or like it was a little rushed. However, sometimes Kiersten is purposefully vague. She totally writes with specific intention.

KMod bangs out so many books at such a rapid fire rate…I suppose every now and again you’ll encounter one you’re not obsessed with. Did I enjoy it, always, do I recommend it of course I’m just most obsessed with Do Not Open and The Cleaner and The Arrangement Series and several others.

Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC! I’m a fan of Kirsten’s work, and this book did not disappoint. For starters the narration was great I was able to differentiate from the different characters in the story . I found it very easy to follow along from chapter to chapter., and the narrator’s voice fit their character well. The main characters, Tibby and Walker were well developed and relatable. I really enjoyed the multiple points of view with each character and the ending was a complete surprise. It was highly entertaining and I would definitely recommend this book.!

The Stranger is extremely fast paced, and I listened to the audiobook in one sitting. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and had to know what happened next. I loved the chilling atmosphere of the snowstorm, as well as the creepy motel vibes. I mean who doesn't love a creepy motel?

We follow two strangers as they decide to travel together. Tibby is walking alone on the side of the road when Walker offers her a ride. She reluctantly accepts his offer in order to escape the snowstorm that’s raging around her. As they travel together, the storm gets worse, and they’re forced to seek refuge in a roadside motel. Tibby and Walker are strangers, and can you ever really trust a stranger?

Overall, The Stranger is a tense and slightly claustrophobic read that you won’t be able to put down. Highly recommend!

Another fun thriller/mystery from Kiersten Modglin. This is a quick, creepy read that will keep you turning pages until the last. I had so many theories as to what was going to happen and most of them were wrong. Unreliable characters and lots of secrets to unravel. I couldn't put this one down until I finished.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Kiersten Modglin for a copy of the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
