Charmed meets Ghosthunters, meets Supernatural?

Holly Celeste and her sisters are known for making the most magically delicious apple cider in Maine. Unfortunately, the most magically delicious apple cider isn't enough to save their orchard and they must turn to other methods to save the family business ... even if it means possibly exposing the big family secrete.

Connor Grimms, co-host of Grimms Reality, life goal is to normalize the paranormal. Rumors of unexplainable phenomena that can only be explained by the supernatural have drawn him to the small apple orchard and right into the path of Holly Celeste. Holly will do anything to protect her family from harm and Connor will stop at nothing to find the answers he is looking for. What happens when both Holly and Connor's interests are at odds but their chemistry keeps bringing them together?

I had an amazing time reading this book. There were moments where I laughed, giggled from all the cuteness, and sat at the edge of my seat through the drama and suspense.

I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters and how their relationship progressed. Holly is the overprotective sister who will do anything for her family, even if it means allowing a film crew onto their orchard to attempt to save it. Connor is eager to find the answers to his questions, but he has to decide if the answers are worth the risk of exposure. Old family secrets are brought to the surface and things aren't always what they seem, especially at Wicked Good Apples.

If you are looking for some witchy vibes, paranormal enemies to lovers, insta love, some minor spice, and dual POV - this would make a great fall read for you!

I'm looking forward to reading more about the Celeste family in the future.

This book made me laugh, it made me gasp, it made me kick my feet and giggle. the twist in the middle and the drama of it all had me chewing my nails. Holly will do anything she can to protect her family, and Connor will do anything he can to find answers. the fact that they have an intense attraction to each other is only complicating things even more. Holly can't allow herself to be distracted by this so called ghost hunter while he's hunting for her family's secretes. Connor can't afford to be distracted when he's so close to getting the answers he needs. but how are either of them supposed to keep their secrets and their motives to themselves when they can barely keep their hands off of each other!?

for that matter, why is there an actual ghost showing up at the family orchard now of all times?! what family secret are they about to uncover?

2 1/2 Stars - Rounded to 3 because I always round up.

I was excited to read this title based on the description - Charmed meets Ghosthunters is definitely something that caught my eye.

What I liked - The general premise is an interesting one. Any time you can put a twist on the paranormal side of things that hasn't been done before is a bonus. Whilst I was able to figure out the rough powers, and the issues surrounding them, I really expected it to lean into a different supernatural path - this one not being one I had encountered before.

What I didn't like - *MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*. Normally, I avoid all spoilers in my reviews but I can't figure out a way to give accurate feedback as to why I downrated it so much without pointing out a couple of specifics. Firstly, Ghost Adventures would definitely be a better description than Ghost Hunters. I can't help but feel that Connor was very influenced by the main Ghost Adventures cast, with SO many similarities that I wasn't able to appreciate him AS his own character in the story. Secondly, I don't feel the cover is appropriate for the story, It leads to the idea of the generally cute Rom/Com style TikTok popular books, and this definitely leans more into the sexy (which isn't a bad thing), and stronger language than I expected. (Note -NEITHER of these things is an issue for me - I really literally everything from YA to Erotica - I just think the cover doesn't accurately portray the contents). Thirdly, and this is the biggest spoiler, the ghost back story mentioned is literally a gender-bend on the Bent-Neck Lady from the Haunting of Hill House. The Bent-Neck lady is so iconic I find it hard to believe that others won't make the connection. Finally, there are several major sticking points for me where it feels that things happen LITERALLY as an excuse for something else to happen with NO real tie-in to the actual story, or proper resolution,

Overall - I really wanted to enjoy this book but was sadly left feeling sort of Meh about it. It's a shame because the idea definitely had potential.

This immediately went into the top 5 books I’ve read this year. Best new book in the magic realism category!

I couldn’t get enough of Holly, her sisters, aunts and their story.
Delving into the family history alongside Holly, Conner and all that sexual chemistry- boy get me a fan.
I was not expecting any spice in this book but I loved it.

This book was magical, small town, cute, whimsical and everything adds up to the perfect feel good read. Can’t recommend enough.

This was so cute.
I love the growth that Holly and Coner had in their relationship. I love the cozy feel that it gave and it wasn’t your normal contemporary romance (;

3,5, stars

Perfectly Wicked is an interesting paranormal romance that for me fizzled out halfway. That isn't to say there isn't anything of interest to find here.

We meet Holly and her family as they are trying to keep their apple farm alive. When they get a great offer from a ghost hunter company to film on their grounds to catch a ghost that supposedly haunts them, it almost feels like they have to take it. One snag, they have a big magical secret they don't want anyone to find out about.

I thought the start of this book was very solid. I enjoyed the set up of the appel farm, a magical mystery and the addition of the ghost hunter coming onto their grounds. The strong dislike and resentment Holly has towards Connor, the ghost hunter, who also likes to push her buttons made for a very interesting dynamice. Unfortunately at about the halfway point things fizzled out a bit and I started losing interest.

This was partially to do with the romance. Holly went from dislike to lust to being completely in love with Connor within a very short time frame. I also felt that there was too much emphasis on the other being unique and so unlike anybody else. It was a bit much.

Then there was the magical worldbuilding. There were some interesting bits but I also found some bits not very strong. That there was a difference between the wicked and witch for instance. It just felt a bit farfetched and it wasn't properly build upon. I also thought that the ghost hunting magical aspect was a bit underlighted. I did however enjoy seeing the family use their powers and that there was a backlash for them.

As for the side characters, her sisters for the most part felt like characters. Slightly one dimensional but there is a lot of prospect there to work with for future installments. I did find that their aunts were a bit underused.

Clearly there are things being set-up for future installments because not every storyline is completely wrapped up. I feel like we will be seeing romantic stories for Holly's sisters and perhaps the witch family near them. I would love to see a story focused on Winter. She was the character that stood out the most to me.

A lovely spooky/witchy read.

There are plenty of spicy moments. It's dual POV and a whimsical/paranormal enemies to lovers. I loved the small town vibes and the romance between Holly and Conner. It has everything many of us look for in a romance read perfect for spooky season! Definitely would be perfect for fans of charmed and gilmore girls.

Witchy-Romance, sisterhood, ghost hunting and a 200 year old mystery to solve, you couldn’t ask for a better story.

The family bond between the Celeste family is truly beautiful and inspiring and a highlight of this book.

I loved the concept of Wickeds and Witches and the reasons for being. It was a unique story line which I absolutely loved.

I hope there are more stories to come in this world.

This book skillfully built up little twists creating a unique and interesting story that has both a satisfying conclusion and intriguing hints for the further series (assuming there is one). I really loved the concept and the unexpected aspects of the world building.

I initially found it a little hard to get into, the distinction between Connor and Holly's chapters was blurry and a bit confusing at times, but either it improved or I got so sucked into the story I no longer noticed. I liked the characters, though honestly Holly and Connor's interactions with each other were a bit overdone and annoying at times. Mostly I think probably it just needed a bit of a stronger structural edit, which I did read the ARC so could be improved in the released version

Rumor has it that Wicked Good Apples is haunted, and these rumors have caught the attention of reality TV star Connor Grimm. A very “uh oh” situation for Holly Celeste, whose family (secretly paranormal) owns said wicked good apples. The spotlight Connor plans to shine on the Celestes’ farm could prove fatal, but it might be their only chance to keep their family business afloat.

“Perfectly Wicked” is a solid paranormal romance! It’s been a while since I enjoyed a book in this genre, and I think my issue has been with the writing or storytelling, which has felt a bit too juvenile for me–particularly in paranormal rom-coms. If you can relate, but still want some spooky love in your life, consider giving this one a read.

Conner Grimm finds himself on the set of Grimm Reality, a show where he and his brother delve into supernatural occurrences. They've heard intriguing rumors about Wicked Good Apple Farms in Maine, but securing filming rights from the Celeste family, who owns the orchard, has proven difficult. When Conner heads to the farm to negotiate, he encounters Holly, a formidable presence.

Holly resides on the orchard with her twin sisters and aunts, crafting the finest apple cider in Maine thanks to a secret magical ingredient. Despite Holly's efforts to protect her family and their livelihood, the majority decision is to allow the film crew in hopes of boosting sales and saving the orchard. As Conner and Holly grow closer, sparks ignite between them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially the infusion of witchcraft and the exploration of the Celeste family's mystical heritage. With its captivating storyline, I'm crossing my fingers for more from this book—and perhaps even the start of a series.

Huge thanks to NetGalley for providing the ARC!

Holly's family owns an apple orchard in Maine, and while they have consistently broken even, the last four years have been tough, and they are facing forclosure. The family has two choices: sell the orchard that has been in the family for two hundred years or let Connor Grimm come and film his ghost-hunting show on the premises. Neither option appeals to Holly, who wants to keep her family orchard but knows the importance of laying low. But she's outvoted, and now sexy, arrogant Connor is there, but he's interested in more than just their ghost; he wants to know about the Celeste women and what secrets they are hiding.

This novel perfectly combines comedy, drama, and supernatural romance. Holly and Connor are witty, funny, and fierce in their beliefs and passions. I read the book in a day. I had to find out what would happen next. Were they going to fight or make out? What exactly are the Celeste women? This book had an exciting new take on Wicked Witches and the supernatural. It is perfectly set up to be book one in a series, and I want more! I would love to see what happens to Holly's sisters, Winter and Missy.

Disclaimer: I received a free advanced reader copy of the novel, but this review is my own thoughts and opinions.

I LOVED this story. It was so enjoyable it had perfect elements of mystery, romance and the paranormal. The main characters were so well written and I loved Holly's sisters...(hoping they each get their own romance...especially Winter)

Perfectly Wicked manged to keep engrossed until the very end and I felt the way it was written included the potential of another Wicked story. There was no unecessary pointless drama, the romance was the right and believeable kind of slow burn, that was not too drawn out. It was sweet and spicy :)

A great read, I finished in one sitting!

A talented author!
