This is a good book. The two main characters are Audrey and Nicky. Nicky is in a ballet company in New York. Nicky is in a band in LA. They meet when Nicky needs to get away and Audrey comes home. There is an instant attraction. Nicky has a bad boy reputation. Audrey has a good girl reputation. They start dating. They see on another every couple of months. They each have things happening in their lives. Nicky is going on tour for a year after his new album came out. Audrey gets a starring role for a ballet. Their lives are going in different directions.

Nicky and Audrey the couple that just shouldn't be. All the odds are against them. She is such a good girl and he is a bad boy rock star. She just really enjoyed her time with him the little bit of time she had with him. When they were in each other's company though it was like the world around them was invisible.

ARC review for Broken Strings by S.J Sullivan - Publish date May 28

If you are a fan of:
Bad Boy Rockstar and Good Girl Ballerina
Small town vs big city
Forbidden love
Troubled past
Multiple POV
Short chapters
Shocking ending

Then this is the book for you! I honestly picked this up without too much back story and just dived right in. I do love a bad boy vs good girl vibe and liked their draw for one another. It was insta love but they try to fight it and others opinions around them. A recurring attitude throughout was how they both tortured themselves with wanting to be with each other but thinking they couldn’t/shouldn’t be.

The one thing that threw me off (just because this isn’t my style) was Nicky’s hair (haha!) I totally get that he is an 80’s rock and roll star but the constant mention of his sky high spiked, messy, always in his face, hair just isn’t my kink. I liked the guy on the cover of the book but was thrown off by his description. I do want to mention that this book comes with trigger warnings and a big one is drug use so please check those out before diving in.

Over all I would rate this 3 star and 2 chili peppers

Unfortunately, this book is a DNF for me. It reads like a child's book and is very stilted. I just don't have it in me to continue reading this. There is absolutely no flow to this book.
