I had a fantastic time reading this book! The idea of meeting that perfect someone-but meeting them when you just died, and it turns out that they were mistakenly there, yeah, loved it! It was such a fun romp of a story!

Delphie has lived a very isolated life, she doesn't want to let anyone in, her dad left, and then her mom went off to a commune. That she dies choking on a bite of a burger, not fun. To meet someone who might be perfect for her, and then he's back to life, well, making a deal so she could, as well made sense.

Watching her search for him, when she only knows his first name and that he's in London, well, that complicate things, not to mention that he doesn't remember their encounter. That her miserly neighbour might be able to help, well, I loved their interactions.

Really, this was a story of missed connections, of almosts and maybes, which was just a delight to read, because she is on a time crunch. Oh, but how it all came together? That ending was so adorable to read! I'm glad it worked out like that!

Loved reading this book and I'd love to read more by Kirsty Greenwood!

From the very start, I couldn't stop listening, and as soon as it ended, I found myself missing the characters. I think this book found me at just the right moment; I went in with little prior knowledge, so my expectations were perfectly manageable.

I really enjoyed the audiobook and the narrator’s engaging storytelling. It felt authentic and made it so easy to immerse myself in the narrative. I loved the language and witty dialogue, as well as the internal monologues. The characters, who are close to my age, helped me connect with them and root for their journeys. Everything about this just clicked for me.

Even though I guessed some of the twists and surprises, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment—in fact, I was even more excited when they happened!

This is definitely in the running for my favorite book of the year, 100%!

I was instantly drawn into this story from the very first page! It perfectly balanced a mixture of hilarious one-liners and escapades interposed with poignant moments and insights. Delphie was such a loveable character and I felt invested in her story and wanted to see how it all played out! Despite the fact that she’s found within a storyline that is so fantastical, she was multifaceted and so real - from trying to join running groups to visiting her neighbour to her moving from isolation to actually wanting to be in a group and accidentally creating her own little community! The ending seemed slightly rushed and almost more unbelievable than her visiting the afterlife, but overall it was a really great read!

I was very excited about this book because the premise sounded right up my alley, and the author was selling this as a rom-com-est book, which hooked me.

Low on the romance, high on the comedy. And not in a good way.

I have issue with second-hand embarrassment. It makes me drop a book or a TV series or a movie faster than it takes to actually say second-hand embarrassment. And this book is just that.

Just. Constant. Second-hand. Embarrassment.

It was such a chore to read this book because of it.

The writing is okay, and I could have actually enjoyed this book, if it hadn't been for the constant stupid situation the main character gets into. It's none stop. She has to say to her neighbor she's looking for her true love because she has an STD. Like of all things you can think of? And then the running with a camel toe. And the naked drawing. And the hand jive on stage thing. It was NONE STOP. I assume the author wanted Delphie to be quirky, but it just make her feel awkward, and not the good kind.

If you have no issue with a character always getting into embarrassing situation, you'll probably enjoy this book, but for me, it's unfortunately a nope.

This was awesome!
Funny, awkward, sad and filled with whimsy.
I highly enjoyed this one!

This was hilarious, heartwarming, adorable, a bit steamy... seriously everything one could want from a romance novel.

The banter was fantastic, and although the plot was a little slapdash at times, I was absolutely along for the ride. To top it off, I didn't see the twist coming which doesn't usually happen for me. I absolutely recommend reading this if you're looking for a pick me up.

First off, thank you to Wednesday Books and Netgalley for an earc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, she’s also now standing in her "sparkle and shine" nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.

As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is, until someone comes running through a door yelling something about a huge mistake and sends the dreamy stranger back down to Earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.

When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to Earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But to find him in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind. . . .

I was excited about the premise, I think it had a lot of promise. But I found the execution just wasn't for me. I couldn't really get into the story or connect with the characters to root for them.

What would you do if you only had ten days to find your soulmate? In The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood, Delphie has died. That’s right, she’s dead. In heaven’s waiting room, she meets her soulmate, Jonah, right before he’s whisked back to his life on earth. Delphie makes a deal with her guardian angel Merritt (such a fun character) and is sent back with a mission: find your true love and kiss him and she’ll get her old life back. Easy, right? This book is a love letter to all of the romance tropes, thanks to Merritt, with a dash of magical realism. Fake dating, slow burn, one bed, grumpy sunshine, friends to lovers, love at first sight, all of them, and more. I loved the relationships that Delphie has with her neighbours, from the grumpy bestselling author Connor, to the loveable Mr. Yoon who Delphie feels responsible for, and those she really didn’t know before living such an insular life. Filled with fun characters and banter, and a twist I saw coming but still enjoyed watching it play out. The ending isn’t what you’re expecting, but it won’t leave you disappointed. Can Delphie make it in time? Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t get to finish this book, I got a new Amazon prime account and my kindle deleted everything associated with my previous account including all of my downloads and I only just figured out why it wasn’t appearing whenI tried re-sending to my kindle multiple times. Now I’ve finally found the source of my problem and changed/updated the kindle email and can now download books again. Unfortunately it’s been archived and won’t let me download it. It really messed up my reviews for all of the books I’d requested over the past few months, I apologize. I liked what I was able to read so that’s what I’m rating. This was one of my most anticipated books and I was so upset I was unable to finish it. I plan on purchasing the book and finishing it. When I do I will do a proper review on social media thanking NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was literally a 2000’s rom com and it decinitely made me so happy and feel so lucky to be alive. I thought it was really funny and clever and related to the main character more than I could’ve ever expected to. Can’t wait to read more books by this author!

2.5 stars.

A second chance novel for both life and love was a really neat concept, so I went into this one really excited.

Unfortunately Delphie wasn't a likeable character for me. Her quirky, self-deprecating nature paired with rudeness to nearly everyone she interacted with was off-putting. I have no idea why anyone wanted to be her friend let alone invite her to things. I love a messy and awkward character, but this one missed the mark. Even her relationship with Mr.Yoon came across as condescending and a little creepy instead of... Charming/endearing? I'm not sure what it was intended to be. She treated him like a child who could do nothing for himself. Also, calling young kids "losers" because you were bullied as a kid probably isn't the way to go here...

The entire novel REALLY needed some tension between characters, not just because of the 10 day time limit. It left me wanting on the romance aspect, I wanted to feel SOMETHING other than slight disinterest. Not even the fake dating trope was enough to reel me into this one, although it was short lived and more of a side scene before lumbering into the next trope.

The ending was fine, predictable in the way almost all romance books are. I was happy it was over.

Thank you so much to Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley for access to the book. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

Like many, the description of this book drew me right in and I was curious to see how the story would unfold. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t just a romantic love story, it’s about falling in love with oneself and becoming the best version of you. It’s about creating new experiences and memories, even though it’s the last thing that you want to do, with the added bonus of falling in love.

The initial few chapters were exactly what I expected and then it did slow down a lot. I know we needed some background, but it did take a while. However, the last bit of the book did pick up and made the first half worth it. The ending was predictable, but it had its moments.

I liked the overall message of this book, but it did take a while for me to become invested in the story. I also don’t think it was that funny, I could see how the situations could be considered humorous though. Could just be me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions are my own.

This book was so unique and fun!! Delphie lives a routine life that's safe and comfortable. Her circle is small and she likes it that way! Her world is flipped upside down when she suddenly chokes and.... Dies. She's transported to an afterlife world and meets her "afterlife therapist". Upon arriving Delphie meets the most handsome, perfect man of her dreams. It doesn't last long, he was just stopping through and was sent back to earth. Delphie convinces her therapist to give her more time back on earth to find her dream man. When delphie gets her second chance at life, things change. She finds a friend, and more, in her cute but grumpy neighbour, opens up to her coworkers and begins to enjoy life. I absolutely loved Delphie's character and seeing her grow. This book was funny, sweet, tender and lovely. The secondary characters were so loveable and the ending was emotional and satisfying. I hope to read more by this author!

A fun, sweet read, though you could see the "twist" coming a mile away. A bit heavy on the slapstick manic pixie style antics for my taste, but they fit the vibe in general.

At first, I wasn't sure I liked this book. I was a bit annoyed by the main character and her attitude and choices. But it got better and funny at times and I liked it in the end. It had lots of other great characters. Overall a good book.

The news that The Love Of My Afterlife is being adapted to screen coincidentally came the day I read this book. I was so excited because though I wasn’t finished yet, I was absolutely loving it and was already thinking it would make a great film.

From the first romantic scene where Greenwood describes the spark between Delphie and her mysterious stranger I knew I was going to enjoy the romance. Then when we met her neighbour Cooper and they have this push and pull enemies to lovers energy between them I was even more hooked. While the book obviously deals with some heavy topics, Greenwood balanced them well with a lot of light, funny and heartwarming scenes, so the majority of the time I was laughing or smiling. There are some outrageous scenes that while not completely realistic had me actually laughing out loud. The over the top moments fit perfectly and completely worked tor me.

This book was so much more than Delphie finding romantic love. The side characters were all so charming so the found family was a strong point too. I especially loved Delphie’s relationship with her elderly nonverbal neighbour Mr. Yoon. Delphie herself really goes on a journey of self discovery as she learns to appreciate everything she took for granted and everything she never bothered to explore. Delphie must learn self love and find her own courage. I left this read feeling a renewed zest for life and a desire to step outside my comfort zone. If that’s not a five star read, I don’t know what is!

Some shows that it slightly reminded me of were Drop Dead Diva and Being Erica. If you enjoyed those I think you’ll like this one!

This was so fun and fresh! I cackled more times than I can count.
The concept was very different and I appreciated that it wasn’t a cookie cutter rom com. Definitely looking forward to what Kirsty does next.

I found it drug slightly in the middle, but still a solid debut

Delphie, who recently passed away, encounters Jonah, a potential love interest, in the Afterlife. Unfortunately, Jonah has mistakenly entered the Afterlife and must return to Earth. Delphie's therapist, Merritt, sends her back to Earth for ten days to find Jonah. Not only does Delphie have to locate Jonah in a city of millions, but he must also be the first to kiss her.

I found "The Love of My Afterlife" surprising and unexpected. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, Delphie and Cooper, which added charm to their interactions. The banter between them was fantastic, filled with laugh-out-loud moments that made the book both quirky and satisfying. The story also emphasizes the importance of living in the moment and appreciating what we have. However, I didn't appreciate how whiny Delphie could be at times or how one childhood incident derailed her entire adult life. Nevertheless, I found her growth and realization that the people around her just needed a chance to love her to be a redeeming arc that made the journey worthwhile.

Overall, the book offered a delightful blend of humour, heart, and self-discovery, featuring memorable characters and a quirky, feel-good charm. I highly recommend this book if you're seeking a read that will warm your heart with love!

Okay I loved this cute little rollercoaster. Delphie, our FMC, although incredibly stubborn at times grows throughout the book and learns to accept love, both romantic and friend.

The concept of this book is so unique and I loved the spin on incorporating romance book tropes; found family, love triangle, one bed, enemies to lovers, taming the womanizer.

I was very lucky to receive this book as an ARC but life got in the way and I wasn’t able to finish it until now and wow I wish I read it sooner
