"If you're not feeling pushed and pulled and scared and delighted instead of just safe - then you're not doing it right."

It's my favorite read of the month! I absolutely love this story, the tropes, and the characters. I don't usually re-read books, but this may be my new comfort read.

Delphie Denise Bookham is a young, anxious loner who wakes up in Evermore in a creepy afterlife launderette with Don't Worry, Be Happy playing in the background after choking on a microwaveable burger. When she meets Jonah T., Delphie feels a spark of happiness that she hasn't felt in years. Jonah is very much alive, though. His presence in the afterlife was only a glitch. Luckily for Delphie, her afterlife therapist, Merritt is a lover of romance novels and is bored with her new position. She decides to give Delphie a chance at life. She must find Jonah and get him to kiss her in ten days. If Delphie fails, she will come back to Evermore to become Merritt's guinea pig for a new afterlife dating program.

Let me just start off with Merritt. A lover of curry and romance novels... the spicier, the better. Same girl! I loved her energy at the beginning of the book. She was so upbeat and cheerful. It was a great contrast to Delphie's character. However, I did relate more to Delphie's character. Delphie was introverted and anxious but so damn caring. She had her guard all the way up for most of her life in fear of being hurt. The way she took care of her eighty something year old neighbor, Mr. Yoon was too sweet. And then there's Cooper. Cooper was Delphie's neighbor. They hardly knew each other and really didn't get along, but when Delphie came into the apartment building drunk with a man she had just met, Cooper was immediately protective. Ugh, I love Cooper and his sarcastic sense of humor. He was the character who made me giggle.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Kirsty Greenwood and NetGalley!

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own

It was okay. I found most of the story cute and fairytale which I adored. I, however, could not get myself to feel anything about any of the characters, except Josnah, He reminded me of my niece's boyfriend. By page 300 I was ready to tap out, but kept going

Delphie Bookham doesn't like people. Doesn't like associating with them, being around them or thinking about them. That instantly changes when she chokes on her burger dinner one night and winds up in the afterlife. She meets Merritt, her afterlife therapist that tells her she's going to be in Evermore for eternity. And to top off the weirdness of everything, she meets Jonah, her supposed soulmate that will be sent back to Earth after briefly making googly eyes with him in Evermore. Delphie strikes a deal with Merritt to find Jonah in ten days and get a kiss from him to secure her fate back as a human. If she can't so it after ten days, then it's a lifetime in Evermore! Delphie goes on a wild goose chase to find Jonah and along the way, finding something that's more important than anything else, herself.

To say this book is hilarious, is a true understatement. This plotline was BONKERS and right up my alley. I love paranormal aspects in a romance story and this one delivered with flying colors. Delphie was quirky, fun and the ultimate grump when it came to people. It was so satisfying watching her stone heart crack bit by bit and to see who she ends up with at the end. There were fun twists and turns to this story that I really enjoyed. Merritt and Mr. Yoon were side characters you couldn't help but love. There was focus on grief, bullying and self-love in this one that made it imperfectly perfect. Oh, and all the rom-com and romance trope references? Stellar.

I highly recommend this one for all my romance reading friends. Something about this one just sets it in it's own class of rom-com. If you loved shows like Drop Dead Diva and The Happy Place, this book will do wonders for your serotonin levels!

Special thanks to Berkley publishing (Never thought I'd shoutout to these wizards but Yay!) and NetGalley for this digital copy in exchange for my honest thoughts on reading this book!

I adored this book! It’s fast paced and full of interesting characters. I liked how realistic it was and I didn’t see the plot twist at the end coming !! It was also refreshing to see characters that are not teenagers/early 20’s being silly and full of life. Delphine Bookham, you will always be famous !!

To be honest, I struggled with this book and ultimately did not finish it. The writing is well done, and I wouldn’t critique that, but the main character was not for me, and the abundance of embarrassing scenes in the first 25% was too much for me. This would be a good book for someone, but not me.

This book was such an enjoyable read. It was funny and tender, and there were even a few sad parts that snuck up on me and left me teary-eyed. I wasn't sure about a few of the characters at first, however I found myself completely warmed to them as I got further into the book. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy!

I absolutely adored this book! It was so cute and sweet and fun! I laughed out loud so many times while reading it.

The concept hooked me in and kept me engaged. Was it extremely predictable? Absolutely. But I did enjoy some of the twists and loved all the characters. The writing was great and the plot was so enjoyable.

I enjoyed the level of spice in the book - leaves some to the imagination while giving enough to take in the moments of passion. The conflicts resolved a bit too quickly at times, but there were also a lot of things happening throughout the book, so it kept things moving.

Some of the character voices were too similar, but I enjoyed how many characters we got to meet. I was also very entertained by the banter between the FMC and the MMC, as well as the FMC and Merritt.

I’d absolutely recommend this read for a fun rom-com!

Thank you so much to Penguin Random House Canada, Kirsty, and NetGalley for this ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley for a review copy of this book!

I really loved this book! I can't say too many things without spoiling, but I could really see this book in my head as a favourite romcom movie.
We follow Delphie as she is given ten days to find and kiss her soulmate Jonah. It's really all about Delphie's personal journey to rejoin the world of the living from the life of loneliness and solitude that she's been living thus far. We meet lots of amazing characters that provide lots of heart and lots of laughs. We have a swoony romance. We have lots of adventures that Delphie doesn't want to be having (or does she?). I loved it. I will absolutely buy this book when it comes out and read it again. This just really felt like a comfort book from the first page.

All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC copy to review.

The Love of my Afterlife is set to release July 2nd and I had the amazing opportunity to review this book early.

This was my first Kristy Greenwood book, but it most definitely won’t be the last. I loved this one
and really enjoyed the premise of this story.

The story introduces us to Delphine, who, upon her untimely death, is given an extraordinary opportunity: she's allowed to return to Earth in search of her soulmate. If they share a kiss, she'll be granted a second chance at life.

The way the book took you on a journey with Delphine as she navigates through her second chance and ends up finding love, happiness and creating a group of new found family she didn’t think she wanted or needed was immensely enjoyable. It made me want to keep reading to find out what was going to happen.

I highly recommend this book!

What a way to die. After choking on a hamburger, Delphie lands in deaths waiting room. While there she meets her soulmate but of so briefly. Due to a glitch the hottest man she ever met wasn't supposed gets sent back to earth. Thankfully, Delphine's afterlife councillor is romantic. Delphie now has 10 days back on earth to locate and kiss her soulmate for a second chance at life.
Hilarious romcom full of loveable characters that will keep you cheering on Delphie to the end.

First of all, I would like to thank NetGallery for the ARC. I was torn between wanting to binge read this book, and to simply devour it or take my time, because I did not want it to end. Once you pick it up, you can’t put it down. It was sweet and funny, also heartfelt and heartwarming.

I enjoyed seeing the growth of each character. The main love story and couple was so cute.

I liked the cultural references and how it was used to create humor.

Just finished reading “The Love of my Afterlife” by Kristi Greenwood.

This book has an interesting premise - a woman dies from choking on a hamburger but while in the “waiting “ room she meets her “soulmate “. She gets sent back for 10 days - if she can get him to kiss her, she stays, if not she dies for real.

This book would make a great romcom movie - it has romance, comedy, life lessons. The supporting characters are great too.

I highly recommend!

Kirsty Greenwood has vaulted her way to the front of the line - she has now become an automatic-buy for me. This romance has familiar tropes (enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fake dating) but with a huge twist. I loved the unpredictability! I loved the banter, the personal growth, and the heartfelt moments. I definitely will recommend The Love of My Afterlife to everyone!

This book is about Delphie, who dies after choking on a hamburger, and has 10 days back on earth to find the man she met in the afterlife and have him kiss her to save her life. What follows is a 10 day adventure filled with mishaps, twists and turns, and so much love - both platonic and romantic.

I haven’t read a book that made me feel so happy and warm and laugh out loud in so long!!! I absolutely LOVED this one!!!! Delphie was a hilarious and sarcastic but also had some really deep wounds and traumas that contributed to her complex personality. The plot was a really good pace, the setting was so cute, the chemistry between her and the love interest was *chefs kiss*, the side characters were written with such light and life, and I loved the relationships between literally everyone. The story was funny, wholesome, sweet, steamy, and romantic, and diving back into the story made me feel so excited and fuzzy every time. There was also a lil twist which I always love!

The ending wasn’t as strong as the rest of the book and it used the word “tut” a lot lol but it was still good and didn’t take away from the absolute treat of a story and how I felt reading it. 4.5 rounded up to a 5 and 100% recommend!

This was such a great, quick novel to read with an even better message in the end. The main character is relatable, the plotline keeps you engaged throughout and it's very well written. My only complaint is that the ending was a bit predictable, but most HEA books are so it wasn't enough of a detractor to keep me away. I'll definitely be re-reading this one!

Thanks to Netgalley and Kristy Greenwood for the e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion

One kiss can save her life!!💋💋

I want to thank Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for providing me with the ARC of Kristy Greenwood's 'Love of my Afterlife'.

Although I'm not usually into paranormal books, this one exceeded my expectations. Delphine has just 10 days and one kiss to save her life. During her time on Earth, she searches for Jonah to seal her fate and undergoes tremendous personal growth. She makes new friends, moves on from an unhealthy relationship with her mom, rediscovers her love for drawing, and finds the true meaning of love.

The interconnected supporting characters are beautifully developed, and you'll have to read the book yourself to find out more. Look out for its release on July 2, 2024.

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada and the author for a free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This novel was my first Kirsty Greenwood novel and I really enjoyed her writing as it took me back to the days when I first read Sophie Kinsella's novels as a young teen. My taste has changed but I cannot fault this book as it provided the right amount of nostalgia along with "feelings" with the right dose of "real-world"-ness (yes, despite the premise of the book, a large part of the book is grounded in human relationships). This was a guilty pleasure read that had me smiling (and laughing!) throughout.

The premise of the book is that a recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on earth before ten days are up. I picked up the book thinking it was a play on the second-chance romance trope but it isn't (sorry to disappoint those that go into it thinking so). To classify this with a trope would be a spoiler, so I will leave you with this: you will likely see it coming but you won't be disappointed.

Delphie is perhaps the first fictional character I have encountered in this genre in while who is as funny as Sophie Kinsella's OG Rebecca Bloomwood (the Shopaholic series) (although more of a pessimist, which resonated more with me). This book was as much about finding and making your own "family" and community as it was a romance. I absolutely adored (and even teared up slightly) at the relationship between Dephie and Mr. Yoon. I would recommend this book to others.

I thought this book was so cute.

I loved the cast of characters from Mr. Yoon to Aled to Leanne.

I loved the premise of this book, it was something a little different and I find myself really enjoying this genre of magical realism.

I did find the majority of the book pretty predictable. I called Delphie and Cooper ending up together pretty early in the book, although I did really enjoy the twist at the end of Em and Merritt being the same person.

As someone that enjoys reading a lot of romance novels I liked some of the popular books being mentioned as well as the popular tropes. I love when books bring in a little of the real world by doing that.

Overall this was a really great book and I look forward to reading more of Kirsty Greenwood's book.

The Love of My Afterlife was my first Kirsty Greenwood romcom, and if it’s typical of her writing, it definitely won’t be my last!

As the story opens, Delphie, our heroine is breathing her last. She wakes up in the afterlife in a laundromat, where she has a chance encounter with a young man (not dead) who, she is told, is her soulmate. With only a first name to go on, she is returned to her life in London with ten days to find him and get him to kiss her otherwise she will die again. And it only gets funnier from there.

I found myself laughing out loud as I read of Delphine’s antics to hunt down her alleged soulmate, and how, determined as she was to remain a loner, she kept gathering new friends and finding new enjoyment in life.

Full of all the romance tropes you could ask for, The Love of My Afterlife was a hilarious, yet touching story of friendship, love, and learning to live life to its fullest. It brought me from laughter to tears, and I can’t wait to check out more of this author’s books.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
