A Taste for Crime by Ellery Adams and Tina Radcliffe. If ever there was the ideal partnership, it is these two authors. This series abut a Bible study group/crime sleuths is the most creative of all the wonderful cozies out there, simply by their chosen sleuths. Cooper Lee runs the sleuthing efforts of the group and has a boyfriend named Jon Easton who is a chef. He had gotten tickets for the whole group to see the Chef Anton show being filmed. Jon is excited because there is to be a cook-off and he might be one of the contestants. Monica Amsterdam, Anton’s nemesis and a food critic is to be the other. It should be exciting and would have been except Monica ended up dead in Anton’s restaurant and he was the lead suspect. Jon asked that Cooper and her group investigate. He considers the man his uncle. The whole thing leads to a series of lies told by Monica about who she was and what her experience was. It didn’t exactly help to solve the crime.
Cooper is a pleasant and smart young woman with a group of friends, some married, some not, who enjoy their Bible study group and enjoy one another outside the group. Of particular note is Savannah, the religious leader of the group who does a wonderful job and is blind as well. Anton, seemed like a nice man, grumpy as many chefs are, but that was about how seriously he took his profession. The final clue came down to a photo taken off a security camera that everyone else had overlooked. It was an exciting time for the group. This was a decent mystery and this group of friends is nothing but likable. One hopes that Cooper’s relationship with Jon continues as he seems like a nice guy. Thanks to the Dynamic Duo for this fabulous cozy mystery!
I was invited to read A Taste for Crime by Beyond the Page Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #BeyondThePagePublishing #ElleryAdams #TinaRadcliffe #ATasteForCrime
A very moving story, in some places felt a bit far fetched, but generally gripping. Such an inspiration to living with friends and family in a community and supporting one another.
A cozy mystery with faith weaved in, I didn’t know this type of cozy existed!
This is the first book I have read in the Hope Street Church series by Ellery Adams and I really enjoyed it. There is inspiration weaved into the book and it is honestly very uplifting.
I really enjoyed the story line of all of the characters and I want to go back to book one and read the series in order. I enjoyed how the author did touch on what they were learning in Sunday Bible study. The scripture that is studied on Sunday is brought up in the characters lives with different challenges they are facing.
The mystery was also intriguing I honestly did not know who did it until the end. A really great read all around!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, opinions express in this review are completely my own.
The hope street mystery series is like hanging out with old friends. The bible study ladies manages to step in and help solve a crime when the food critic dies in the kitchen. These ladies are full of faith and fierce friends.
The food critic has secrets she has tried to keep hidden. I love all the pets as they are heartwarming characters.
This is charming, quick who done it. Although I have read the whole series it would work as a stand alone.
I really enjoy this close-knit group of friends that encompasses the Hope Street Bible study group. They are not only a study group, but they are good friends outside of church and they like to solve mysteries on the side, like murder! Cooper is the main character, and she has a lot going on in the story. She's the owner of a business and has hired a new employee who needs a role model, she's dog-sitting and her boyfriend's honorary uncle is a famous chef who has been accused of murder! I love Cooper's family. They are a delight, especially the grandma. Jon, her boyfriend, asks the group, if they will look into the murder as a personal favor and if they find any clues, to hand them over to the police. What follows is a lot of sleuthing with interesting outcomes, some quite funny! You never know what you'll get when the Hope Street group is on the case and the police, especially the detective assigned to the case, isn't always happy about it! Come along for the ride!
A return visit with the Hope Street Church Bible Study group in A Taste for Crime with Tina Radcliffe, is just as charming as the previous two titles Method of Malice and The Deeds of the Deceitful.
Cooper Lee is a great main character, and it was fun to see what she and the other members of the group were up to in this newest offering. As is their usual pattern they can't resist putting their sleuthing skills into play when a restaurant critic turns up dead after writing a scathing review.
The study group decides to aid Cooper's boyfriend Jon, whose uncle Anton is a chef and owner of the restaurant reviewed and a potential suspect in the crime. "Discernment was everything when they were following clues. Sometimes the difference between life and death."
In addition to trying to solve the crime based on the clues given, I loved all the foodie references and descriptions. Catching up with Cooper's family and especially her mom Maggie Lee of Magnolia Marvels catering fame was equally gratifying.
A favorite line, "Trust is the confidence in that faith even when the world tells you otherwise."
A Taste for Crime and the Hope Street Church Mystery series is a wonderful cozy that readers who like to solve whodunit crimes will certainly enjoy. I appreciate Beyond the Page, via NetGalley making a copy of A Taste for Crime available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
A Taste for Crime is the Eigth book in this Christian themed series. Cooper and her Bible study group are caught up in another murder investigation when Jon's honorary Uncle, Chef Anton Parsley, becomes the main suspect in the murder of the food critic who wrote a scathing review of his restaurant. This got off to slow start but picked up speed and got much more interesting once the group starts their investigation. Family values, friendship, wholesome likeable characters.
A page turning whodunit with warm characters that keep me coming back for more. This is part of a series that I highly recommend every read.

This was my first book by Ellery Adams and Tina Radcliffe, and I know it won’t be the last 💖 The relationships between the characters were so loving and supportive. I had not read a Bible study cozy mystery before, but I’m so glad I read this one.
The elements of mystery were well built, and the main character sure knows how to dig for information.
The friendship between the Bible study group was my favorite part. They were absolute cinnamon rolls.
I’ll be looking out for other cozy mysteries by these authors.

A Taste for Crime is book #8 in the series by Ellery Adams and Tina Radcliffe.
This is a good, clean cozy with an element of faith. Cooper and her Bible study group get involved in another murder investigation to clear Cooper’s boyfriend’s honorary uncle’s name. There are tasty, simple recipes included. This was an enjoyable story and a nice addition to the series.
Thank you to the authors, Beyond the Page Publishing, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
It was so nice to join the Hope Street church and the Sunrise Bible Study group again for another whodunit. I love reading and collecting all the clues along with the gang trying to figure out who the murderer is while learning more about this wonderful gang. I missed Cooper and her family, her boyfriend Jon (yup she's calling him her boyfriend now), and all her friends who while solving crimes were studying about TRUST in the Bible. It was a fun clean page-turner and I can't wait to read the next installment. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my very own
This book was good, especially toward the end. I think if I would have read the others in the series first I would have liked it better, but even with this being my first one in the series I liked it! Definitely a Christian cozy mystery which is what I was looking for! 3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4!
Thank you to NetGalley for this e-book! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Thank you to NetGalley, the authors, and Beyond the Page Publishing for providing me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this novel.
The Hope Street Church Bible study group has helped solve several murders, so when a family friend of a member of the group is accused of murder they jump in to help. Cooper’s boyfriend Jon is a chef. A family friend and the chef who trained him has been accused of murdering a food critic that gave him a scathing review. When this occurred Jon asked his girlfriend and her friends for help. Can this group help the police solve this murder?
This book was a nice cozy mystery that had a wonderful faith element. It was enjoyable, but I had a few problems with it. One issue was the writing was not always smooth. It felt a bit awkward and lacked cohesion. Another issue was that each plot point seemed to need to be a bit more fleshed out and the resolution seemed rather sudden. That being said, I do plan to read the rest of this series because it was fun. The faith elements were very evident but not overdone.
I would recommend this book to people looking for clean, mostly non-violent cozy mysteries, especially if the reader is looking for something that teaches an element of faith. If evident faith bothers you then this book may not be in your wheelhouse.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Ellery Adams and Tina Radcliffe for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for A Taste for Crime coming out April 16, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I love Ellery Adams’ books, so I was excited to check this out. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but I could catch up with what was going on. It’s a really fun food cozy. I loved the characters. Amateur detectives is one of my favorite genres, so this book had all the fun elements of that. I enjoyed the recipes at the end of the book as well. I definitely want to read more books by these authors.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy food mysteries!
This is the first book I've read in A Hope Street Church Mystery series, but it won't be my last. I love that the amateur sleuths are Cooper and her group of Christian friends who attend Bible study together. I enjoyed the interaction of the friends and their relationships along with Cooper's family. Each person in the group adds an interesting layer to the story. A Taste of Crime is a well written, page turning mystery. If you enjoy cozies, try this intriguing series. I received a free copy and my opinions are my own.
After a scathing review from a food critic, Chef Anton Parsley is accused after the body is found. Cooper and her Bible Study friends must find the real killer before Chef Parsley ends up cooking only in prison. What they be able to cook up a scheme in order to clear his name? I have not read the other books in the series but do plan to go back? The characters were well developed and fun. It had me turning the pages to find out who did it. I love the inclusion of recipes. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

This is the first time reading a book from this series. Since this is book #8 I think I missed a lot of information on the characters.
It was cute but seemed a little slow in the beginning. After reading about 75% I liked it more.
Thank you NetGalley & Beyond the Page Publishing for the opportunity to read this eARC
Cooper is now dating a new beau, Jon Eason. Jon is the chef at the Atwood Inn, and his Uncle Anton Parsley is a well know chef in town. However, recently a restaurant critic, Monica Amsterdam trashed Anton's restaurant in a review and his restaurant is having troubles. When the Monica is found dead in Chef Anton's restaurant, Chef Anton becomes the number one suspect. However, the Bible group is ready and able to find the real culprit and exonerate Chef Anton. Cooper tries to find out who Monica is, and finds she does not have the credentials she claimed.
There are some very exciting moments near the end, as Cooper begins talking with another chef and finds herself in a very dangerous place! This is an excellent addition to the series.
I thank Netgalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for an ARC for me to read before publication.
#ATasteforCrime #NetGalley is a fantastic cozy mystery.
When a food critic meets death, it's up to Cooper and the Bible study group to find the answers.
This is a fun, clean cozy mystery series that always brings a smile to my face.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
