Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
What a great book!! I loved the story and the writing style. Such a good book! I loved the dual POV! It was exciting from page 1! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would! My first for this author but will not be my last!
Refreshing! This book was different for me because it showed 2 parents POV. I just loved that. The concept is so funny and the connection between the characters is so Hallmark and cute
I loved this sweet romance🥰
I loved that this story is told in alternating points of view by 2 single parents dealing with vastly different issues in their lives. Evie is an amazing mom who always puts family first, especially her daughter, with zero help from her daughter’s selfish father. Jonah is trying to rebuild his life after tragedy and though he isn’t really sure where to start, he’s ready to try. I liked the realistic feel of their problems and the occasional chaos that surrounded them. The chemistry between them is ever-present but they don’t act on it immediately. Instead, despite trying not to, they form an emotional connection that only deepens as the story progresses. With lots of character growth, emotion and heart, this book was a treat to read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled: Amara and Marina Adair for an advanced reader copy (eARC) in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly didn't like much of this story. I didn't see a romance, I saw two people needing a lot of work on their mental health choosing to ignore their issues and jumping into a relationship with each other and hoping it'll fix everything. The things that they love about each other are the things that make them unhealthy. I feel like the main things that he loved about her were that she sacrificed so much for others, didn't ask for help from others, and of course seeing her cuddle his toddler. That seems like a list of things that will benefit you tremendously while adding to the things that cause her stress and unhappiness. I spent the entire book wishing that these two would get therapy and set boundaries with their families. That would have made for a happy and healthy ending.
Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing for the ARC of this delightful book, You've Got Male, by Marina Adair. Evie is a single mom struggling to raise a teenage daughter, keep her family's business afloat, and trying to not lose herself entirely. Enter Julie, her best friend, posting a video on the infamous ClickByte site, and Evie goes viral overnight. It's the last thing she wants, but she decides to try to use her celebrity to help her family's coffee shop. After a few less than stellar introductions, Evie decides she needs to take matters into her own hands. Enter Jonah, the very lost, dad of two, widower nextdoor. Fake dating an "enemy", teenage romance, and crazy intrusive parents make everything Evie and Jonah are about to embark on even crazier. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this book, and watching Evie and Jonah find themselves along the way. I highly recommend you add this to your TBR pile!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I enjoyed this book and think you will to.
Love of all kinds is at the heart of Marina Adair’s new book You’ve Got Male. There is the obvious romantic love, but also the love of parents and kids, friends, soul mates, and the community. Hopefully, I didn't leave any of the love relationships out. So if you want to read a love story this book has you covered.
Here is the main plot. Evie is the single mom of a teenage daughter living with her divorced parents. This modern family is fun, complicated, and full of love for each other. They own a coffee shop that has been a part of their community for decades but is struggling to stay open. Evie has set aside her life plans to help out her parents and do everything she can to keep the store afloat.
With everything on her plate, Evie isn’t looking for romantic love but her family and friends know better and take action to jump-start her love life by setting up an online dating profile without her knowing.
Jonah is Evie’s handsome neighbor. He is a widower whose life is complicated and disorganized. They are having a feud over the state of his yard and Evie is determined to get home to clean up his act.
They team up to help each other out and that is where the fun begins. I would say more but I don't want to spoil the fun as you read this page-turner.
Bottom line - You’ve Got Male is another fun read from Marina Adair with some great life lessons sprinkled in that remind us that love is love and that it should be valued.
Set in a charming town, the book immerses readers in cozy coffee shops, snow-covered streets, and local hockey games. The small-town atmosphere adds warmth and familiarity. I was hooked from the first pages! The utter chaos of balancing kids, parents, love and trying to find any spare moment for "me" time! Super relatable and so entertaining. This was a book I could see as a movie! The social media and how overnight you can go from nobody to somebody! This was such a fun and funny book! Such a good summer read! Highly recommended!
This was just what I was wanting. A contemporary rom-com with feelings (but not overwhelming). Fake dating is a favorite trope and add in a widowed father of 2. Laughs, swoons, and all the feels.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC | Entangled: Amara. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~
Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing a gifted copy of "You've Got Male" by Marina Adair.
"You've Got Male" is a compelling fake dating romcom that explores the complexities of love, loss, and second chances. The story revolves around Evie, a busy professional, and Jonah, her widowed neighbor. Initially at odds over a yard dispute, their relationship takes an unexpected turn when Evie proposes a fake dating arrangement to appease her parents. As the façade deepens, genuine emotions begin to surface, complicating their lives further, especially with the involvement of their children.
The narrative addresses significant themes such as parental loss, suicide (trigger warning), single parenting, and the death of a spouse. These elements add depth to the characters and provide a realistic backdrop to their evolving relationship. While the book starts at a slower pace, it gains momentum about a third of the way through, drawing the reader into a well-developed, engaging plot.
Adair skillfully balances the heavier themes with moments of humor and romance. The chemistry between Evie and Jonah is palpable, and the romantic scenes are intensely steamy, meriting a spice level of 4. Evie's journey from reluctance to vulnerability is particularly well-handled, and Jonah's struggle to move past his grief adds a poignant layer to the story.
Overall, "You've Got Male" earns a solid 4-star rating. Marina Adair has created a heartfelt and spicy narrative that effectively blends humor with serious topics, making it a thoroughly enjoyable read. This book is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of love.
I would give this novel a 4.5/5 stars. The main protagonist and the center couple were adorable, and this story has a lot of heart. Embracing love is at the core of Adair's novel, and I enjoyed this read. I would love to read more of Adair's novels!
Book: You've Got Male
Author: Marina Adair
Rating: 4/5 stars
You've Got Male was such an unexpectedly fun contemporary romance novel! Throughout the book, I enjoyed seeing both of the main characters' grow through the dual POVs that the story is told in. The overall story was written in an engaging way, and I thought that the topics in the book were touched on in a way that did not drag down the overall positive vibe of the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun romance read!

✨ Rating: 4⭐️, definitely recommend!!!
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️ ( a few explicit scenes)
Ok but this story was sooooo cute! Evelyn has put all of her dreams on hold to raise her daughter and help her parents struggling business. Jonah is a single dad trying to balance life, his forgotten career, and parenthood. As neighbors, they’ve known each other and feuded for years. But when her family starts a viral campaign to reignite her love life, Evie and Jonah partner in a fake relationship. But how long can their ruse go as they realize how well they are actually suited to each other?
So first off, the chemistry between the main characters was great. Their banter and support of each other despite disagreements was just perfect. I did find the jump from “we can’t do this” to “it won’t complicate things” rather swift. Not in terms of how far in the book, but I felt Evie’s walls were still very much up when they “crossed a line” the first time. Either way, everyone goes into a romance knowing there will be a happy ending, and I was very satisfied with this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, it came out June 29, go check it out!!!
4.25 ⭐️
This book was so cute! Evie and Jonah, both single parents, are neighbors feuding over Jonah’s unkempt lawn a few years after he became a widower. Evie goes viral talking about the kind of man she wants to fall in love with, and Jonah agrees to fake date her to get the numerous men of Denver off her back as they attempt to be the man she described. While attempting to keep their kids happy, take care of their families and friends, and chase their work dreams, they realize that all the support they want and need is within their grasp as long as they can turn their fake feelings into real ones.
I loved the evolution of these frenemies-to-lovers. They felt like real, raw, relatable people, in their mid-30s with kids and messy lives. I was rooting for them the whole book and the HEA didn’t disappoint.
I really need to watch You’ve Got Mail now, since I’ve never watched it and I have to know what’s up with the pencil bouquet. Because school supplies are my kryptonite far more than flowers are.
I’ll definitely be reading more from Marina Adair in the future. Thank you to Entangled Publishing: Amara and NetGalley for the ARC of this adorable romcom!
I enjoyed this romance read and thought it had a really fun premise! The main characters were well written and the fake dating, single parent, and enemies-to-lovers tropes (among many more) were great. There was definitely some spice to this romance and although I was a little surprised by how quickly it progressed, it was nice to see the characters let their guards down and open up to each other in a really sweet way. Secondary characters were great and I loved the setting with the coffee shop that promoted positive LGBTQIA+ representation! There were so many cute aspects about this story, it’s a great summer read to pick up and enjoy!
You know, i'm not really sure what I expected going into this book, but it wasn't to blow through a pack of sticky tabs while cackling like a fool. This has been the best rom-com of the year so far for me.
Something else that I wasn't expecting but that I was super impressed by? Jonan and Ryan's interactions.
100% a great read! Spice mixed with rom-com vibes on this one. I loved how it very much reminded me of my feel good but emotion pulling 90’s rom-com comfort movies. Evie will be a do-it all single mom hero in this one. And Jonah is the neighbor who has the perfect amount of banter and playfulness in him. If you are looking for something to make you laugh, cry, and all the spicy feels this is for you! Be sure to protect your own mental health and check the trigger warnings as this book deals with with, spousal death, suicide of a parent (off page), cancer, abandonment, and the troubles with being a single parent/people pleaser. But over all such a great read. Thank you Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to review this as an ARC reader.
This book was such a fun and heartwarming read. I enjoyed Evie’s growth throughout the story and seeing Jonah be able to move forward with life after the loss of his wife. These 2 frenemies coming together to make the world believe they are in love was incredibly funny. I am also very interested in reading a story about Camila and Ryan they have great potential. All in all this is a book I couldn’t put down for the life of me.
Short synopsis: Evie decides to fake date her neighbor Jonah, who she’s been in a feud with over his untended yard, to try and help save her parents coffee shop.
My thoughts: This one had so many fun elements. I loved that both were single parents of teenagers where some great parenting and communication could happen. Evie’s parents were such a fun comedic relief, and so loving and supportive of her and her daughter Camila.
The dual POV added so much to the story. We could get the inner turmoil of both Evie and Jonah since they’d both been hurt in the past by relationships.
The “viral” dating was also fun, but I do wish it had lasted a bit longer with the influx of roses from possible suitors. That was such a funny moment!

Long time neighbors are about to go to war if one of them doesn’t clean their yard. That’s’ how it all starts, yes Evie and Jonah are neighborly. Evie was even friends with Jonah’s wife (she passed from cancer). Since his wife’s death he hasn’t bothered with any kind of upkeep of himself or his home. He has been out of work and the kids could be doing better.
Evie could not be busier, living with her parents and teen daughter everything is chaotic. She feels the need to take care of everyone while shoving her needs and goals down to the bottom of her to do list. She has to keep the family coffee shop from closing down, help with taking her dad to dialysis, and being a taxi to her daughter and her friends. Oh yeah, and she is secretly hoping to go back to college.
The last thing Evie needs is a man in her life, but when her best friend videos Evie describing her perfect man her world turns upside down in a viral way. All bachelors near and far are making their way to Grinders, the family coffee shop to present Evie with a rose.
This is a fun neighbors-to-lovers, slow burn instant attraction kind of love story. Evie and Jonah are fun, caring, and creative when it comes to flirting and fake dating. Right away they admit there is nothing fake about their feelings. I loved their chemistry and Jonah’s patience with Evie. They both have messy lives with little to no time for a love life, but they want to make time- because when you find the love of your midlife you have to embrace it.
I love the both families and want to find out what happens between Evie and Jonah and their families. I feel like there could be a sequel or at least I hope there is one!
