"Are you asking if I like you?"
"Oh, I already know you like me. I'm asking if you want me to devour you."

You've got Male is an adult contemporary romance standalone following Evie and Jonah. Evie is a single mom hanging by a thread trying to save her parent's business, raise her sixteen turning forty daughter, help her ailing father, and deal with the family drama caused by her ex. In a moment of weakness she vents about finding the right person to support her...and promptly goes viral when her friend posts a video of this online.

Desperate to escape the onslaught of admirers fuelled by her meddling friend and her mother, Evie turns to her neighbour Jonah to help keep the others away. Jonah, who's infuriating pomegranate tree had wreaked havoc on her lawn, and who is trying to get back on his feet. For the last two years he has been a stay at home dad for his teenage son and toddler daughter after the death of his wife and he's ready for a change. Evie will help him get organized and he'll be her beard...but what if someone wants more?

This book was a fun read and I devoured it in a day!

Evie has really been dealt quite a hand in her life and it is starting to weigh on her. I found the realistic element of seeing how no matter how old you are and what you have going on, there is this struggle to get things together. I felt for her experience and I admired her strength to push through.

Jonah is struggling to find himself after being shut away for so long. He's now having to face the fact he needs to get back into the swing of things but he's barely hanging on as it is. I enjoyed how transparent he was and his willingness to accept the mistakes he made.

This book does contain spice. I would say 2 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There are a few spicy scenes that grew more detailed throughout - first was more fooling around around the 50% mark. I will say the spice isn't super explicit and more focused on the emotions and feelings of the characters. I felt it marked a transition in their relationship as things went from pretending to something more...

"You came here to make sure I get home safely?"
"Sunshine, I came here to see you in that blue top."

The story itself follows similar things you may come across with fake dating, teenagers frustrated with parents, trying to save the family business, and the ups and downs of family drama. I found the romance was what had me really drawn in, especially in the second half when the lines became more blurred and Jonah and Evie were bantering. I will say I felt some storylines ended abruptly or never went anywhere that I would have liked to dig into more. They didn't impede the romance but I was left with questions. The climax is traditional in a romcom but it came together quite nicely.

Overall, an easy going romance that explores the realities of life that I feel everyone can connect with!

Thank you Entangled for this arc.

Tropes/Themes: Family Ties, Second Chances, Spicy Romcom, He Falls Harder

Evie Granger is a person who puts her family and friends first. She leaves her successful job to save the family coffee shop while raising her teen daughter on her own. When Evie’s love life going viral thanks to a video made by her best friend Evie is forced to ask her widowed neighbor for help keeping the suitors at bay. Evie and Jonah come up with a plan to fake a relationship and help each other get their lives back on track.

Being a fan of 90s romcoms this book was so delightful! This novel has relatable realistic characters to root for as they fall in love and find themselves again. I enjoyed every minute of it and was practically in tears reading the last couple scenes with how just touching and sweet they were. This is a great feel good romance book if you are looking for one that you won’t want to put down. This is a story of love, hope and finding yourself again.

You've Got Male is the newest book by Marina Adair. The cover says: "Fake boyfriend, real big problem" which got my attention right away. After reading the synopsis I was really curious about this book. What will this book bring to it's readers?

This book is all about Evie, who is a single mum. In addition she is struggling to keep her families coffee shop from going bankrupt. With her hands full, there is just no time for herself, or dating anyone. However one day a video of her goes viral and men are lining up in front of the coffee shop. Evie doesn't want all this attention and turns to Jonah, her neighbor and single dad. His choice: fake date her or fix his wild garden alone.

I have never read a book about two single parents who are fake dating before, so I really loved this unique point of view. Both Evie and Jonah have their hands full with their kids and struggles in life. I loved their storylines and the way they came together. You've Got Male is a really sweet, spicy and romantic story.

I enjoyed reading this book right from the start. I adored both Evie and Jonah and I loved to see them develop during the storyline. This book has everything you could be looking for in a romance. It is swooning, has humor, some spice and is heartwarming. Just because this books seems to have it all I give it a 4,5 star rating.

Thank you Entangled Amara for my advance electronic copy. My opinions are my own.

I love that this book (and all the Entangled books I've read) has it's own content warning page at the beginning. Major kudos to them for providing that consistently--way to look out for your readers!

Evie's life is utter chaos, trying to save the family business while squashing her own dreams and raise a teenage daughter is taking it out of her. Her hot neighbor Jonah has problems of his own, and he's been trying to be a good dad ever since he walked out on his job to take care of his kids and dying wife full time. So they work out an arrangement--they pretend to date, her family gets off her back about her "getting back out there" in the dating world, and she helps him organize his life back on track. But will they be able to quench their growing attraction, or will they end up getting burned?

Oh, so much chaos and anxiety! So many bad things happening, all at once! It's hard for me to understand how her parents can claim to love her while completely destroying almost every aspect of her life and pushing her to do things that she DOESN'T WANT TO DO all while all she is desperately trying to help them. Also, at first I felt that Jonah was whiney and not trying hard enough, but he grew on me. I loved how sex-positive the book was, and there were lots of steamy, open-door scenes. I did feel that the premise of the weirdly-somehow-instantly-viral videos of Evie was a bit flimsy, but the book was nonetheless engaging enough that I stayed up past bedtime reading it. And rom-com fans alert: You've Got Mail references abound! It ended up being a well-written, entertaining read.

This is a dual POV enemies(frenemies) to lovers. The 2 main characters are neighbors and once friends until Jonah’s wife dies from cancer. Evie’s parents and friends create her a dating profile on a dating site without her knowing. She decides to recruit Jonah for a faux dating to get everyone off her back. This leads to their situationship and their struggle to come to terms with their true feelings for each other.

I really enjoyed You’ve Got Male. The single parent ups and downs and learning how to move forward in dating while juggling life was very relatable. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys contemporary romances with good banter and some spice.

Thank you to entangled publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this arc.

You've Got Male by Marina Adair is an incredible, humorous, emotional, fake dating love story that was difficult to put down. Trigger warming: this book touches on a lot of subjects which include grief, suicide, single parenting, and money troubles.

Evelyn “Evie” Granger is a single mother of teen Camila, owner of professional organizing company, and is currently trying to save her divorced parents’ coffee shop, Grinder. Her father, Lenard, is having health issues, and the shop is losing money which is why Evie put everything on hold to help them. Her neighbor Jonah Stark, a widower, and single father of two, his teen stepson Ryan and toddler, Waverly, has been struggling since his wife died. Evie and Jonah have been feuding over his not taking care of his overgrown yard. There are not enough hours in a day for Evie let alone succumb to the pressur by her parents and her best friend Julie to date. Without her knowledge Julie creates a profile for Evie on ClickByte, a dating site, using the profile name You’ve Got Male. A social media influencer Tasha Hart, also on ClickByte, visits the coffee shop and makes Evie a social media sensation. Men with roses are lining up in Grinder for a chance to meet and date, Evie. Fed up with the direction her life is going, Evie and Jonah agree to fake date to lessen some of the craziness. Conversation between Evie and Jonah flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter; though some are truly heartbreaking.

Jonah, a major cinnamon roll, is amazing and the ideal boyfriend after all the things he does for Evie, as part of their fake dating. The comfort they have with each other shows when they shares secrets with one another; showing their vulnerable sides. When their fake relationship is uncovered on social media, Jonah does all he can to show that their relationship is not fake. The chemistry between Evie and Jonah is off the charts, but there is more to their relationship than just that; it was love.

You’ve Got Male is a love story with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments that are poignant and bittersweet, incredible characters, family, an amazing story, and surprise plot twists that made it difficult to put down.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Book Review: "You've Got Male" by Marina Adair

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing LLC, and Marina Adair for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"You've Got Male" captured my interest from the very first chapter, introducing us to Evie, a spunky and endearing protagonist with a quirky family and a dream of finding a man like Joe Fox from "You've Got Mail." The narrative is charming, blending romance, humor, and the messiness of real life in a way that feels both authentic and delightful.

Evie’s character is vividly drawn; her life at the coffee shop where she works and her interactions with her eccentric family members add depth and color to the story. The dynamics within her family are portrayed with a touch of humor and warmth, making them relatable and engaging.

The plot takes an interesting turn with the fake dating trope between Evie and Jonah. Their relationship is a delightful mix of sweetness and complexity. Jonah, with his own set of challenges and vulnerabilities, complements Evie perfectly. Their fake dating arrangement feels genuine, highlighting their chemistry and the gradual development of their feelings for each other. The authenticity in their interactions makes the romantic tension and eventual resolution incredibly satisfying.

The banter between Evie and Jonah is one of the book's highlights. Their witty exchanges and the palpable chemistry between them create a vibrant and engaging reading experience. The sparks fly off the pages, making their journey from fake dating to a real, heartfelt connection incredibly enjoyable to follow.

Marina Adair has a talent for creating relatable characters and situating them in scenarios that resonate with readers. The messiness of both Evie’s and Jonah’s lives is portrayed realistically, reflecting the complexities and imperfections that make their story believable and heartwarming.

In conclusion, "You've Got Male" is a delightful read that combines humor, romance, and the charm of a quirky, endearing family. The engaging plot, well-developed characters, and the sizzling chemistry between Evie and Jonah make this book a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. Thank you once again to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing LLC, and Marina Adair for this enchanting e-ARC.

📧You've Got Male was such a fun read! I love a good rom-com, and these characters did not disappoint. ⚘️ Evie is a stressed-out single mother with a martyr complex. 🌳 Jonah is a widower, parent to a teenager and toddler, trying to get his life back together after losing a wife he loved deeply. They are neighbors whose banter mostly includes irritating each other, aside from one night that they get 🔥 heated in a different way.

Both main characters bring their own type of emotional baggage that affects their ability to commit. The background characters are gold - I can't pick a favorite!

This is a fun story with wonderful characters. Evie and Jonah are neighbors and friends who find themselves in the most awkward of romance. There are also the other characters, parents and children, who add to the wild fun that unfolds as you turn the pages. The plot is energetic and entertaining and will keep readers engaged. This is an awesome story!

💖Hottie Next Door
💖Enemies To Lovers
💖Fake Dating
💖Single Mom/Single Dad Romance
💖Coffee Shop Romance Vibes

Evie is a single mom who is just trying to get by while running her family coffee shop, she’s been a single mom since the age of 19 and her ex is living his own life with his new fiancé who is also pregnant. Her life is wrecked when all of a sudden her love life is put on blast via social media and now she’s got tons of men lining up at the coffee shop trying to get a date with her. Her annoying neighbor being there doesn’t help, and with a total lightbulb moment, she takes advantage and decides to fake a romance with him to get everyone off her back especially the suitors and her family. Will her neighbor sweep her off of her feet?

What I Loved:
I have not read anything from 2 parents’ perspective that totally wowed me in the romance department. This book was full of funny subtle innuendos, lovable characters and absolutely steamy moments of passionate romance. Overall it was very easy to read and a fast read for me because of how tables were turned on the main character within just a few chapters. These 2 characters are far from the typical morally grey ones we see in typical romance books and is definitely more realistic which I loved. I loved Evie’s relationships with her family members and also how the book shows how great of a mom she is. This author has a very unique and clever play on words. The epilogue was perfect in every way!

Vibes: Steamy Hallmark Movie, Coffee Shop Romance

This was a cute romance. I liked that the main characters were middle aged and had teen kids. It was nice to read a story with someone my own age. The spice was just right.

A sweet second chance romance for both characters makes it easy to root for both people. Evie and Jonah have each had some curveballs thrown at them and in trying to keep their heads above water, they turn to each other for support.

As much as I've enjoyed other Marina Adair novels in the past, I found it difficult to get into You've Got Male. While the characters of Evie and Jonah were well-developed, the others were less so. I didn't get swept up in banter like I have in previous novels and the cutesy factor of poop finger-painted on walls wasn't there for me.

I could well believe that this is an occasion of it's not the book, it's me. Just not feeling it.

Many thanks to Entangled for sending me a copy.

I don’t know where to start so, just bear with me.

I was a bit hesitant to read this book once I realized this book was written in the third person. HOWEVER, I stuck with it and was happy I did!

Adair did a great job sharing the story of Evie and Jonah. They both suffered loss in different ways but seemed to have been impacted just the same. They saw the life they wanted completely collapse and turn their lives upside down. I believe that this loss is what helped them come together and find happiness. It was short of like two puzzle pieces fitting together just right.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced e-copy of You've Got Male, in exchange for an honest review.

Marina Adair's 'You Got Male' is a cute romantic comedy that tackles real-life challenges with heart and humor.

Evie Granger's life is a balancing act as she juggles single parenthood, family obligations, and the struggles of keeping her family's coffee shop afloat. When a video of her describing her ideal man goes viral, she becomes an overnight social media sensation, attracting a swarm of potential suitors.

Overwhelmed by the attention, Evie teams up with her equally harassed neighbor, Lucas, to pretend they're in a relationship to deter unwanted advances. However, as they navigate the charade, their connection deepens, and they face their own personal journeys of grief and loss.

The book's dual perspective provides an intimate glimpse into the lives of both Evie and Lucas, adding depth to the narrative. Adair skillfully weaves romcom elements with more profound themes, exploring the complexities of love, family, and coping with adversity.

While the multitude of storylines can feel somewhat overwhelming at times, the seamless integration of spice and the overall cozy and heartwarming tone make 'You Got Male' a worthwhile read.

Marina Adair's 'You Got Male' is a charming and thought-provoking romcom that explores the complexities of love and loss with heart and humor. While its multiple storylines may be a bit much for some, its rich character development and heartfelt emotions make it a worthwhile read for fans of the genre.

Evie and Jonah have quite a journey on their way to love. I love a good coffee shop romance! Andy the reference to the movie you’ve got mail! Swoon me now!!

Evie has had a heard life of being a single mom and having to be the rock of her family. Jonah is the widowed neighbor that is there when she needs help. But then is the fake dating becomes more real than fake.
Jonah is working through the loss of his wife and being a single dad.

Spice level is a 2. I love a dual point of view because you get to see how both people feel.

Thank you to Entangled a publishing for this arc.

I've enjoyed other novels by this author and was intrigued by this one (love the title's play on words!) Evie, finds herself needing a man to get scheming friends and family off her back after a video goes viral of her describing the perfect guy. Enter Jonah, neighbor, widower, father, and her new fake bf. But when feelings enter the chat.....

There were so many spots for this book to go right, but I spent most of the time reading waiting for it to get there and it ultimately didn't. There were a lot of side plots and characters, that while quirky in a gilmore girls esque kind of way, left the reader wanting a lot more from each of those aspects of the story. As someone who usually reads a book in a day, this took a lot longer for me to get through, too many competing plot points going on that it didn't end up pulling me in like I would have expected.

As much as I was rooting for for Jonah and Evie, truly I was, there were so many things that felt unresolved and not super cohesive (school, her ex, separate plot points focused on each of their kids, the coffee shop), that the rushed reconciliation at the end didn't tie up all the obstacles that ended up in their path that the book ultimately felt a little unfinished.

This had everything I would have expected from this author and loved about her other books - small town, found family, two MCs that you want to root for, hard but real things that hit you in the feels, but at the end of the day, I wanted more. Will I pick up more from this author? Absolutely!!

Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for the ARC in exchange for my review!

A delightful fake relationship/enemies to lovers romance. Evie Granger is a harried single mom who is overwhelmed with all of her responsibilities. Sixteen years ago, she had to leave college, move home to raise her daughter. Two years ago, she left her growing organization business to help save her failing family coffee shop. She is trying to keep everything going and doesn’t have time for a man in her life. Her best friend posts a video of her describing her perfect man and it goes viral. Now the coffee shop is overrun with men wanting to date Evie. Evie wants to get everyone off her back so she turns to her neighbor, Jonah to fake a relationship. Jonah lost his wife to cancer two years ago and is raising his teenage son and toddler daughter. His life has become a mess, his yard is out of control, his son’s grades are dropping, and he quit his job to deal with the fallout of his wife’s death and the money is getting tight. The fake relationship helps Jonah look stable for potential employers and keeps all the potential bachelors away from Evie. I loved all of the characters in this book, and loved the pacing of the romance. Overall, an enjoyable read. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

Calling this one a serious rom-com. It has everything you want. The characters are so relatable. It's nice to have a story with real, complex characters that are adults with adult problems.
