This was a field of romance. I enjoyed the coziness of it, and it just made me want to sit down on the beach and read a book. The author created a really well developed female character and I enjoyed her story in the book. I also just enjoyed the cast of characters and how they each brought something to the plot. All of the storylines in this book, kind of converge in a way that added to the story, but also set a line up for further bucks that could be interconnected and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I enjoyed this book - it felt like a perfect beach or summer read. I loved the premise - sisters trying to keep the family resort running.

This book is heartwarming and motional and relatable- There are also a few good twists I didn’t see coming. I loved the sassy and witty banter how the sisters had to work together!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

The Predator

What would you do to save a family legacy?

This is the story of three sisters who fight to keep the family resort, and their mother’s memory alive when their father decides to sell it to pay for his second wedding. The sisters see the developer as the enemy and try everything to block the sale. The MFC, Apollonia, is also fighting to keep her job back home and tries to solve a few shady mysteries at the same time. There are some good twists in the story.
There is swearing in the book, and sex. It is a fast-paced read but a full-length novel.

I think this is the perfect vacation read. It's lightweight, pulls a bit at your emotions, but overall makes you feel good. The book reminds you what family is and how the barriers you hold can push people further away.

Title: Resorting to Romance

Author: Jennifer Shirk

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Favourite Quote: “Loni licked her unpainted lips and he wanted to kick himself for being immediately drawn into staring at them. “We have a baked apple pie oatmeal, s’mores pancakes, and a delicious veggie bomber omelet.” “Any cheese in the omelet?” he asked. “This is the south, honey,” Loni said with a roll of her eyes. “We put cheese in anything edible.” He handed her the menu. “I’ll have the veggie omelet—hold the cheese then.” Loni placed a hand over her heart. “You monster,” she breathed in mock shock.”

Thoughts in 3:
- The southern bell charm, the witty comebacks, the swooning… honestly the perfect summer read!
- I loved the sisters working together to fight back against the development, it had such a cosy family vibe to it
- Loni and Ian was of course what we were all expecting, but the journey is so much fun to get there, with some surprises and mysteries along the way!

Recommend to:
Anyone looking for an easy and heartwarming closed door summer romance with cheeky dialogue and innuendos and a dose of sisterly love.

This is a lovely easy to read small town, enemies to lovers romance.

I liked the 3 sisters and enjoyed their closeness and interactions. However, as the book goes on we start to see some strain as secrets start to emerge and family dynamics change.

I didn't really like the pranks that were played on Ian but he took them well. I wasn't sure about him at first but when we find out his background it becomes clear.

Wirh the book is set in a small town in North Carolina I enjoyed the community spirit and lifestyle vibes that shone through. The location sounds amazing. There is also great range of characters which add to the storyline.

A lovely beach read with family drama, romance, fun and community spirit.

This gives off The Parent Trap vibes except these are adults and their ‘victim’ is almost family. I couldn’t stop laughing at the various antics in the book.

Resorting to Romance is the story of Ian, a developer, who wants to buy Loni’s family hotel, except she is not giving in without a fight.

This celebrates family, friendship, sisterhood and love. It shows that family isn’t just blood but about what is in the heart.

I loved the relationship between the sisters and how the author made both them and their family dynamics as real as possible.

I love the slow burn relationship between Ian and Loni and how the author took time to make their relationship mature.

Small towns are usually my favourites and Sunny Banks didn’t disappoint. I love the residents and their stories and relationships. I am hoping the sisters too get their stories.

If you love family drama mixed with small town romance and a dash of slow burn with some funny antics then you should read this.

This is a perfect summer beach read. Giving hallmark movie romcom vibes. It’s was a really easy read packing was slower than what I normally would choose but I still greatly enjoyed it because it gave more depth and time for side stories. This is a wonderful story about a small town girl who moved to the big city to become a big city lawyer with her fiance and when it all starts unraveling she moves back home to save her family resort. It includes some complicated family drama and really interesting side stories, while focusing on second chances and of course love!

this was sadly not my cup of tea and i had to dnf around 30% in. it could definitely be the fact that i did not read it in the right season/mindset, as it gives very summery vibes and we’re currently entering fall

A quick, easy-reading summer rom com, if you’re looking for a decent beach read then definitely pick this up. I enjoyed that it had a little bit of a different twist on the usual romcoms I read. It is set in the south of the US so I felt like I missed some of the cultural references but I did enjoy reading this. I would compare it to a Jenny Colgan style book, closed door rom com, easy reading, would recommend to others but I wouldn’t race to reread it.

It was supposed to be L.A. attorney Loni Wingate’s perfect day. Instead, she got only chaos and heartbreak. Her fiancé stole her promotion and ended their engagement, leaving her career and her future dangling by a thread. Then when Loni tries to go to her safe place, her family’s quaint North Carolina resort, she finds it’s up for sale.

But Loni didn’t get to where she is without a fight. So if a developer is coming by to assess the property, the place she feels most connected to her long-gone Mama…well, Loni and her sisters will serve up a taste of Southern hospitality he’ll never forget.

Ian Hollowell hasn’t experienced “Southern hospitality” firsthand, but he’s pretty sure this is not it. Between the storage room accommodation, the all-sugar sweet tea, and a lethally hot pepper omelet, he’s getting the sense his welcome is anything but. Still, he didn’t get his ruthless reputation by quitting when the game gets interesting.

And Loni is one adversary Ian can’t resist… especially when family revelations start pushing Loni to question her loyalties.

Oh I do love a good enemies to lovers romance and this one was no exception.

Loni, a hard hitting lawyer manages to turn on the southern charm and be all coy and demure when she needs to be - Ian didn’t stand a chance! I didn’t like the way she was treated at her law firm and by her fiancé - she deserved so much better.

There were some funny moments in this and amongst this humour was an underlying theme of family values and standing up for what you believe in.

I really enjoyed the family dynamics and the relationship between the three sisters and I hope there’s more from them. There’s so much potential there ☺️

This is a perfect beach read for the summer and I hope you enjoy it too!

Resorting to Romance is the perfect book to curl up whether you're on vacation or it's the middle of winter and you're looking for a warm escape. I loved the characters and adored how all of their names revolved around the sun, especially as their family runs a small resort in North Carolina. This lovely story tackles much more than what the title may suggest - it's filled with elements of family, drama, grief and much more.

This is a light, breezy read that will leave you smiling from ear to ear by the end.

Enemies to lovers! Several twists as the plot and story progress along. I was filled with so many emotions. I just couldn't put it down. This was kept your engagement and so ready to turn the pages. I envy the story between the sisters, bonds that can't be broken little white lies typical between sisters. For me this was just a great summer by the pool book! The story the plot and all of the middle is perfect!

Book: Resorting to Romance
Author: Jennifer Shirk
Rating: 5/5 stars

If you're looking for a delightful and heartwarming summer read that focuses on family, redemption, and good banter, then Resorting to Romance is the book for you!
In this contemporary romance, the main character Loni must head back to her family resort in North Carolina to save it after her father announces that he is going to sell it. The family resort was her mother's legacy, and she doesn't want to let it go that easily. Enter Ian, who is the developer sent to look at the resort to see what he can do with the property. Loni and her sisters create a plan to give him their own southern welcome and hospitality - and hopefully save the resort!

I enjoyed the dual POVs in the book, as I found that it really gave an inside look into the developing relationship between Loni and Ian. I also really enjoyed the banter and the pacing of the overall story. Once I knew the premise of the resort needing to be saved, I needed to know what was going to happen next! I hope in the future that Loni's sister's stories are possibly explored further - as I would love to read more of the Wingate's family happenings!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read the e-ARC of Resorting to Romance.
