Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the chance to read this eARC for my honest review.

This was a cute rom com summer book...pretty predictable in all the ways you would want your romance books to be.

Loni has returned home to North Carolina after she didn't get her promotion in her law firm. She has returned to her family's resort that her sister's run but soon finds out that their dad wants to sell the resort. Ian is there to survey the resort that his company wants to buy. Loni and Ian start as enemies but soon become frenemies, plus more.

I so enjoyed this sweet romance book that offers so much more. Love the bond of the sisters, especially with the hidden secrets that their mother only shared with one of the sisters. I can't wait to read more of the sister's stories.

I had a good time reading it. This book sounds like a delightful mix of romance, family bonds, and a touch of mystery, all set against the charming backdrop of a North Carolina beach. The dynamic between the three sisters and their efforts to preserve their mother's legacy adds depth to the story. The introduction of Ian, the developer, seems to bring both conflict and attraction, making for an engaging read. The Southern hospitality and humor you mentioned must make the characters even more endearing. It sounds like a perfect beach read, and exploring the stories of the other sisters would indeed be a treat!

This was a sweet, contemporary romance. After a hit to her pride and her job, Loni boards a plane and heads home to clear her head and get some distance between her douche-canoe of an ex-fiancé. When she arrives home she finds out that her father has moved on 5 years after her mothers death and is getting married. Not only is he getting remarried, but he wants to sell the resort her parents ran together - despite the fact that two out of three daughters are keeping it running.

There's a lot of angst going on in this book. There's some awkward parent and adult-child relationship reveals and growth. There's middle child syndrome (poor Loni) and while I loved most of the characters, I was not a fan of their fathers because he was a crappy father and awful at communication, but then it was all briefly glossed over and everything was cool at the end.

Loni and Ian were so sweet together though, but I wanted to kick him at the end. I did NOT like he manipulated Joe to get him to sign the contract, because you don't do that to friends/family, but he did it anyway because he was a coward. but then it was a HEA so it ended up being alright. I did like the grand gesture at the end where he basically tanked his career because of love - so there's that.

5⭐
1🌶️ - I didn't really think this was spicy at all, but there are a few fade to black moments that had some shirtless-ness involved so I'll give it a one.

Thanks to Entangled Publishing for sharing an ARC with me.

I read (inhaled!) this book during a cross-country flight. Resorting to Romance is a story about a woman whose life is turned upside down when she doesn't get the expected promotion and she loses her fiance in the same morning. She goes home to help her sisters save the family business when their father wants to sell it to a developer. From here a relationship between the woman and developer evolves from enemies to secret lovers. If you are looking for a steamy romance, this isn't for you, but if you want a charming beach read (that also takes place at a beach), then this book will fit that bill.

This book has an enemies to lovers feel with some serious family drama rolled in!

Loni has to take a sabbatical from her job at her law firm for reasons that aren’t making any sense.
She heads back home to help her two sisters convince their father not to sell their family resort.
When Ian shows up to assess the property for sale, they have to find the right balance of southern hospitality and sabotage.

This was a fun story about love, trust, family, and finding what makes you happy.

Surprisingly sweet coming home and passionate romance
If you like the suggestion of passion without the explicitness along with a sweet reunion of sorts, you will want to read this very Southern story which takes place in North Carolina. Before that however, we meet Loni Wingate, LA Attorney at a prestigious firm. As she waits to be called to the Partners’ meeting to join their ranks, she is called but not for that at all! She decides to take a break and go home. What happens after that will keep Loni and the reader totally captivated. Her father wants to sell the family beach-side resort to a developer but Loni and her sisters do not want to let Ian Hollowell aka “the predator” do that.
Lots of humor that snuck up on me. The secondary characters are delightful and many are so funny! The use of so many Southern sayings that might require a translator for some. Great ending too. I was fascinated by this story and am very happy that I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled and NetGalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the romance to be cute and I loved the bond between the three sisters. I definitely want the stories of the other characters and will be reading more by this author.

Sweet summer romance that had me from the first chapter!
Loni is a big deal LA attorney from NC who has put as much space between herself, her family and the place she grew up in order to dull the pain of losing a loved one. In one fell swoop her life gets up ended and she ends up back in NC at the place she left so many years ago to help her sisters with a new problem.
Ian is a big time developer and is always on the lookout for the next big deal. Emotions are never part of the deal and not something he allows into relationships. When his friend (who is a father figure to him) tells him about a resort he owns in NC and asks for his help to sell it, he is all in.
Nothing goes as planned for either Loni or Ian as they initially meet on opposite sides of the possible development/ sale of the resort. The twists and turns that ensue are realistic, but highly entertaining! The banter and interactions between all of the small town residents who are a part of the resort's history were so delicious to read. And the chemistry between Loni and Ian (even though neither wanted to admit) was top notch. The way they began to open up to one another when they felt they couldn't open up to those closest to them was heartwarming, even though they both kept telling themselves that it would never work between them. I also love the fact that Ian is a big fan of Bridgerton (one of my favorite parts of the book😁).
Long story short, if you like small town stories with a lot of family, friends and hilarious acquaintances thrown in, you are going to love this book!! 💖

Resorting to Romance

I received this book for my honest opinion.

You will meet Loni, she lives in L.A. with her fiancé. She is about to make partner at her firm and she will finally have everything that she has ever wanted in life. However, the day of the promotion she gets told that she will not be making partner due to a mistake she made, even though she knows for a fact that she didn’t do that. She finds out later that day that her fiance got the partnership and he is breaking up with her. With just a suitcase she takes a much needed vacation to her family’s resort in North Carolina, but when she gets there she starts to help her sisters with making sure that their father doesn’t sell the resort and they will get to keep it in the family. She meets the handsome Ian, the developer that her father has hired to sell the property, Loni and her sisters will stop at nothing to make sure that Ian is scared away and never comes back…. But after a few late night talks with Ian, Loni isn’t sure if she wants to send him away anymore. The only thing she knows is that she will do whatever she can to make sure that the resort is not sold.

This book would make a cute Netflix or Hallmark movie, I know that I would watch it over and over again. I loved that you will see the southern hospitality at its finest, and you will see the “oh bless his heart” in the book as well. The author knows how to write a book that will help the readers by drawing them in and making them feel like they’re part of the book/they know the characters themselves. The plot was just perfect for a romcom, you will find the build of the plot at the start of the book, you will see the oh no moments and then you will watch the characters heal themselves and of course the HEA. The pace is just right, I loved the slow times because we got to know the characters better, but even during the slow pace times it really didn’t feel like it was slowing down because you will just fly through the book.

I found the characters to be easily understood, and easy to connect with. I felt as though I have known them for years just half way through the book. I liked that we really got to understand more about what was the underlying motivations for the sisters with this resort and why it was so important and even after the major moment in the book you will see the sisters still together and showing a unified bond between each other. I found Ian to be a typical “f boy”, but the more that you get to know him and understand the reasons why he is this way you will have a hard time hating him like I did. This book is a closed door romance, but you can feel the chemistry between Loni and Ian right away and just watch it build more and more. I was so happy for both of them.

If you’re looking for a great beach/summer read, one that is filled with romance, laughter, some heartbreaking moments and so much more you will have to pick up this book.

I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled publishing for the opportunity to review this book.

I thought this would be a quick, fun, pool-side read. It was in a way, I was just more frustrated than entertained. The frustration comes in what comes next for Marisa, Kalinda, and Loni. I also wanted Loni to speak up for herself regarding her job. However, the whole premise is to get her to the resort so I get it. However, the later could have still been achieved. There are times were felt as though I was reading a YA romance book instead of an adult book. I think the premise of the pranks were to instill some humor, but I was frustrated. One thing I love about ARCs is that I'm introduced to authors that I wouldn't normally read.

I struggled to connect with the characters. Loni, the female lead, made decisions that seemed unwise, especially when it came to standing up for herself at work. This initial impression made it difficult for me to root for her throughout the story. The narrative heavily features Loni and her two sisters, but much of their dialogue felt tedious. Their jokes about the male lead, Ryan, were more rude than funny, which detracted from my enjoyment. It was hard to see what Ryan found appealing in Loni given these interactions.

There is more to this book than meets the eye. Yes, it’s a sweet romance that takes place near a North Carolina beach, but it’s also a story of three sisters coming together to save their deceased mother’s legacy. When developer, Ian, comes to town on their father’s instruction, the sisters unite and the results are full of spicy dishes, rundown shacks, sizzling flames of attraction, and all sorts of Southern hospitality and charm…kind of. Let’s just say it was funny. These characters are full of life and are such a joy to read about.

I found the slight mysteries to give an added dimension to this delightful beach read. I think it would be a treat to read a story about the other two sisters. This is another great story by this author.

Content: moderate language; fade-to-black/innuendo

Super sweet enemies to lovers! Loni just can't seem to catch a break, and insert Ian the developer trying to take her family's summer home you can imagine how things start! But as much tension and angst as there was in the beginning, this story had a sense of family values and finding yourself. This would be a great summer beach read!

Everything was supposed to be going Loni's way, but now she's lost out on a promotion, her fiance is breaking up with her, and her sister says she needs to come back home.

She's definitely someone who is set in her ways and very used to her orderly and predictable life. She was a relatable character in that she was so focused on her goals and a little bit at a loss of what to do once she didn't meet them. Ian felt similar in some ways to Loni, but still had his own past and relationship hang ups to work through.

The story was interesting because they start out at odds over Loni's family's hotel. It's definitely a fine line to walk as it has to make sense that would fall for one another while fighting for the property. Jennifer Shirk did a nice job with character and story development, and I ended up really liking Loni and Ian as individuals and as a couple. This was a good summer read, and another great book from Jennifer!

This book gave major hallmark movie vibes in all the best ways. Big city developer coming in to buy small town resort and meeting the stubborn daughter obstacle. Immediately have my vote. I absolutely loved all the pranks Loni and her sisters pulled on Ian to try to make him give up and go home, and I loved having sort of a mystery going on in the background of the book to give the main characters something to work on together and bond over. I loved all the southern charm packed into this book and all the lessons on small town community and found family. I could not have been more obsessed with all the quirky background characters. I could totally go for this becoming a series and getting follow up stories for both of Loni’s sisters. I would love to see their happily ever afters. I could not be happier with the ending of this book and the growth in both Loni and Ian. Basically, read this one for the Bridgerton references alone! 😂

When Loni's life starts falling apart, she doesn't get a partner and her fiance suggests they "take a break" It seems like perfect timing that she is needed back home in Sunny Banks. It's too bad that she's needed back home because her father wants to sell the hotel he bought with his wife/ her mother who had passed away years earlier. Loni and her sisters are determined to make their father see that the hotel should be saved and Ian is in the way. It's his job to decide if the hotel should be saved or turned into something else. Loni and her sisters will do what they can to make Ian want to leave and never come back.

While I enjoyed this story overall, I did think that Loni and Ian's romance was a bit instalovey. I wished it showed more of them together so we could see the chemistry growing, and maybe more of Ian falling in love with the lovely small town he's found himself stuck in. That being said I enjoy them together as a couple, especially at the end. I loved the setting, and I loved her sisters, and hope that we do get each of their stories in the future.

I'm still trying to think of a hotel in a movie that would do justice for The Sandy Bottom in this book. I loved the premise of the spitfire sister returning home to save her mother's hotel from developers. Loni's scrappy sass reminds me of Miriam from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The writing is a step above your usual romcom as the author weaves in layers of family drama while keeping a bright and light-hearted tone. It will get you fired up and ready to join in Loni's pranks as she torments the property developer that her father has sent.

Loni's career as powerful attorney in LA is being sabotaged when her sisters beg her to come home. Their father has decided to sell the family's beachside hotel to developers who will tear it down. Their deceased mother loved this place so it feels feels abrupt and hateful, especially when Dad adds that he is now engaged to a woman they have never met. Let me tell you - if my father did this to me, I would make Loni's meddling look like child's play. Her plans crumble when Ian turns out to be quite friendly (and handsome). His attraction to Loni blazes and she's stuck between her desire and her purpose.

This is a delightful enemies to lovers as Loni and her dazzling sisters come to terms with the past and find the courage to dream big. The ensemble of small town characters is so charming, I would be happy to read a sequel following any of their love stories.

As the cover eludes this is such a perfect summer beach read. It’s light easy read and fun! The story takes place mostly at a resort in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Loni and her two sisters are working to try to keep their family resort operating and functioning with the growing increase of VRBO’s. Ian is contacted by their dad to buy the resort to sell for future development. Resorting to Romance is a great enemies to lovers with family drama sprinkled in. A story about finding yourself, family, love, trusting others.
