This book was incredibly hard to review for me.
Flash fiction is not my thing - the sheer quantity of individual stories in this book made my head spin: I felt like I hadn't got a grasp on any one story before suddenly we were moved to the next. I think that it has possibly given me a headache.
The writing however was good, and the underlying portrayals of cynicism and humanity came through well. There were a few interlinked stories I found myself searching for as I read through (especially the one of Emmett and the temp).
Basically, this book was absolutely bonkers, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read it all in one go.
Unlike anything I've ever read before, in a good way. Haunting imagery, often laugh-out-loud funny. One worthy of many re-reads.
So this book was a DNF for me but not because I didn't enjoy it. The writing was beautiful and the imagery used was incredible. However, being a book that follows very short stories of hundreds of different people in a dystopian universe, there wasn't much of an overarching plot. At the current time I have such a humongous TBR list, a book of short stories just wasn't something I was looking to read at this time. However what I did read I loved and would recommend this to other people
