Reading this has my heart exploding with love and anticipation for the entire novel. It feels like catching up with old friends getting to return to this world. I’m so excited to read the full novel, but this excerpt was perfect.
When I requested this I didn’t realize it was an excerpt and only the first 4 chapters. But the chapters we got I enjoyed and I can’t wait to read the rest of the story! From what I read I think it is going to live up to my high expectations. Cerulean Sea was one of my favorite reads of 2020 because it felt like a hug in a book. This books is the same, I can feel it already. A lovely cozy fantasy book to curl up with and lose yourself in the world.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. I am a pretty consistent mystery, thriller reader but decided to give TJ Klunes first book in this series a try and WOW! did it change my mind on fantasy so I HAD to read the sneak peak for Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Arthur is back and I am here for it! This sneak peak was amazing and I cannot wait to read the entire thing!!!
The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books so I was beyond thrilled for the opportunity read an ARC of this novel. The sequel did not disappoint. I savored reading this story and was sad when it ended. I truly hope this isn't the last we get to read of these characters. This book made me laugh out loud, tear up and fall even more in love with the characters.. I loved visiting the magical world of Marsyas again. This book is full of obstacles but you are left feeling cozy and content.
This sequel to The House in Cerulean Sea is my most anticipated book of the year and I was thrilled to receive this first glimpse of a portion of it. I love Arthur and Linus and everyone single one of the kids. From what I can tell this book will definitely not disappoint. It will be a beautiful continuance of the sweet, warm tale told in the first book and I feel sure that Arthur and Linus will successfully defeat the dark political creatures that threaten them and their children.
Pretty annoyed that NetGalley did NOT state that this e-galley was only the first 4 chapters. If they had, I wouldn't have started it because now I have to wait until the novel publishes to continue, I had no interest in reading a "sneak peak". Not sure why this record doesn't clearly state it's not the full novel like most others do on here.
However, this sneak peak immediately brings readers back into the magic of Marsyas Island and the little house full of stories (some good, some bad). I can't wait to actually be able to read this novel.
Advanced Reader’s Copy provided by NetGalley Tor Publishing Group, and Tor Books in exchange for an honest review.
When I saw this pop up on NetGalley I requested it SO QUICKLY I didn’t realize it was only an excerpt 😂 That being said, I absolutely flew through these first few chapters and am so excited to read the rest when the book comes out in three weeks!! The characters were just as lovely and endearing as I remembered, and I’m really intrigued by Arthur’s backstory. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!
I only was given an excerpt, but instantly I was transported back into the beautiful world the first book took us too, and reunited with the best children in the world. I absolutely loved the kitchen scene - cannot wait to read this full story!
This was such an exciting sneak peak! TJ Klune has created the most wonderful little world with the most colorful cast of characters! I can't wait to fall in love with them all over again!
This was just a teaser for the full book, though thoroughly enjoyable! I can’t wait for the full title to be released it is definitely on my TBR list for September!
This preview gave me just what I have been missing since finishing reading House in the Cerulean Sea. I have missed these characters so much. I am very eager for the release of the full book IN LESS THAN A MONTH! TJ knowns how to write a literary hug especially when it comes to this extraordinary found family.
Another wonderful adventure from TJ Klune. I was immediately sucked into the magical worlds he creates with the unique characters in them. If you loved the first book in the series, its sequel does not disappoint
SOMEWHERE BEYOND THE SEA's first four chapters are a masterpiece. The House on the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books of all time, and it seems that this book might be up there too. This book follows Arthur's journey, as well as picking up where the found family left off in the previous book. There are family hijinx, understanding, compassion, love, and heartbreak all in these chapters, and honestly, I cannot wait for more.
Thank you to Tor Books and NetGalley for the first four chapters of the novel in exchange for a review!
I was so excited when I got this one! Unfortunately, I thought this was a full arc, so I was completely bummed. 😅 The couple chapters that I was able to read took me right back to the to my favorite unique kids. This one does sound like it’s going to be very political, so I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’m just ready to read more about this dysfunctional family!
Haven't written the review -- have only received the short excerpt. Star rating below just to reflect that the book has not actually been submitted for review on Netgalley as far as I can see.
For some reason the ARC only contained 4 chapters which is a very small percentage of the book. I would give it 4 stars based on the small part that I read. It was so nice to be reunited with the adorable characters from book #1.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is nothing short of magical—a poignant, heartfelt continuation of the story that began in The House in the Cerulean Sea. The author once again transports us to Marsyas Island, where love, hope, and family are found in the most unexpected places.
This sequel deepens the emotional ties to Arthur Parnassus, whose past comes into sharp focus as he faces new challenges that could either strengthen or unravel the beautiful family he's built. Arthur's journey from a troubled orphan to the nurturing headmaster of the magical orphanage is both touching and inspiring. His love for Linus, his fierce protectiveness of the children, and his struggle with the shadows of his past are all woven together in a narrative that brims with compassion and resilience.
The author's writing is as enchanting as ever, blending whimsical fantasy with profound truths about love, acceptance, and the courage it takes to stand up for what is right. The introduction of a new magical child, one who grapples with the label of "monster," adds layers of complexity and tension, forcing the characters—and readers—to confront deep-seated fears and prejudices.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is more than just a story about a magical island; it's a tale of resistance, love, and the relentless pursuit of a life worth living. The author's ability to create characters who are flawed, vulnerable, and utterly lovable shines through in every page. This book is a triumphant follow-up to The House in the Cerulean Sea—one that will leave readers feeling warm, uplifted, and deeply moved. Arthur's story is a reminder that even in the face of darkness, love and family can light the way.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I didn't realize this was just an excerpt but I am very excited for the full length novel. There was a little drama in the excerpt which I wasn't expecting as the first book took a little while to build up to the action but I am looking forward to revisiting all the children from the first book.
was so excited to receive the arc for this and then realized it’s only the first 4 chapters 😭😭 so glad to be back with these characters & need the rest of the book immediately. I cannot provide a complete review/rating for only 4 chapters, but thank you Netgalley for the arc!!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is the follow up to TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea. I was so happy to get an excerpt from the new book from @netgalley a few months ago and decided to hold off on reading it until closer to the publication date. Less than a month to go, so I read the first 4 chapters last night.
So far, it’s amazing. Fun to catch up with characters from the previous book. I can tell the drama is about to kick in though. I cannot wait to read the entire book. Only 25 days until I can do that 😉 September 10 can’t get here soon enough!
