Excellent excerpt!! Thanks for the link! Hard to recommend or tag or rate it without reading the whole book, but I can’t wait to read the whole book. TJ Klune is a must-read for me.

Lovely story, as the prior two. Love this author and his stories. Beautifully written, will very likely read again!

HOLY MOLY! I was so happy when I learned there would be a continuation from Cerulean Sea as I was absolutely craving to learn more about Arthur and what happens next in the story. I loved the flash backs at the start of this as it perfectly set the stage for what is to come. I love seeing Arthur and Linus' relationship bloom and how Linus and the children interact. It fills my heart. These children are really special and individually amazing, but together are just the perfect family. I can't wait to read the rest and learn how things will go down with DICOMY. Thank you TJ Klune for writing this amazing series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Books for an arc excerpt of this novel.

Four chapters in, and there is already so much to love about this sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea. There are such intense stakes so very skillfully conveyed, and such relevant parallels to our current society. I look forward to the book’s expected publication in September 2024.

Thank you to NetGalley, Tor Publishing, and TJ Klune for access to a snippet of this sequel!
Confirmed-more magical children 😍
I had four chapter access back to this cozy world and I can't wait for the official publishing, especially because the audio in the last was such a magical place. It seems we can expect Arthur and Linus now fighting government for the rights of magical children everywhere.

It was lovely to see these characters again and return to this world! The children are as lovable as ever, and I would be lying if I said that I didn't tear up a little because of them (I'm avoiding spoilers here so that I can't explain the exact reason). I'm super intrigued to see how this story continues and where the information we learn toward the end of the excerpt takes us. I enjoyed that real-life issues are reflected in this story because they are essential to acknowledge and discuss. I didn't give the excerpt five stars because of the pacing; I think the epilogue needs a marker, and these four chapters felt like they lasted forever. I'm beyond excited about this book, but it wasn't holding my attention like the first one.

Reading the first few pages of Somewhere Beyond the Sea was like walking inside the home of a friend’s - warm, welcoming, and so familiar! This sequel picks up as if no time has passed since the first and I cannot wait to finish the rest of the novel.

I loved the House in the Cerulean Sea, and was nervous when I heard about the sequel because how could anything else ever measure to? My fears have evaporated after reading this short excerpt, and I think I will love this one too. The focus on Arthur? I can’t wait.

I am ready to be hurt by this series again.

Four chapters. Four chapters to hold us over for the next four months.

This time, Arthur is our narrator. After a quick reminder about each of the magical kids in his charge on the island - and each just as lovely, funny, and snarky as in the first book - Arthur and Linus must go on a journey to the city. There, Arthur will testify before the government on behalf of the rights of magical beings. Once they arrive, they’re immediately diverted to meet secretly with a woman who tells them something is afoot. And it ain’t good.

Plus, David the Yeti is promised. ❤️

I cannot wait for this book and will drop everything when my preorder arrives to read immediately.

I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, so I was excited to be able to read this ARC excerpt from the sequel, Somewhere Beyond the Sea. The story picks up with Arthur and Linus living on the island and caring for the children as a family. Arthur is preparing to leave the island for the first time with Linus to testify in a hearing before the government about the rights of magical people--especially the "dangerous" children in his care. Right before the excerpt ends, Arthur learns that perhaps the government is spying on him and has a larger agenda against magical people and him in particular than he thought. Still, he hopes to use his voice to speak up for what he believes. Thank you to the publishers and. NetGalley for this ARC excerpt, and I cannot wait for the full release!

I am thrilled to dive into the continuation of this captivating story! The sequel picks up seamlessly, immediately addressing the essential steps to create a safe haven for the "orphans." The writing remains as beautiful and compelling as in the first book, keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The fantasy and magic of the setting and its people add a rich layer of enchantment. The characters are so loveable and well-developed that they draw you in completely. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!

Ugh! I'm hesitant to post a not glowing review since this is my first NetGalley review, but I'm honestly dissapointed in this sequel. I adored the first book SO MUCH. But this one is very "woke." There are three different gay couples in the first four chapters, a mocking of the Lord's supper, references to transgender and political changes. It feels very agenda focused rather than the charming storyline from the first and unfortunately does not align with my personal values.

I’m so excited to be back in this world and learning more about Arthur. This book cannot be released soon enough! I am forever a fan of TJ Klune’s writing style - from the unique, unforgettable characters to the whimsical backdrops. Thank you to the publisher for an advanced trades copy of the excerpt.

I absolutely love T. J. Klune and his books, and this is one of my most anticipated reads of this year! I screamed when I got the opportunity to read this excerpt. Can't wait to read the whole book

It’s difficult to review based on such a short excerpt, but the writing is a good mix of funny and serious and the children are as amazing as before.

There was some immediate addressing of generational trauma, which makes me wonder if some of the criticism of the author’s original inspiration was heard and listened to, which is always nice to see.

I’m excited to read more, but worried about leaving the idyllic setting of the island. A lot of the charm of the first book was in its setting and the characters of the kids, so hopefully the bulk of this story brings us back there.

The writing in this book is so beautiful. The world building and description is great! I can’t wait to read the entire book. I am already so invested in the characters and I want to know what happens. I love the family vibes from this excerpt and it was wonderful to see their family interactions.
