I was able to read an excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea and it was everything I needed! Arthur, Linus, and the children are back and the antics haven’t stopped. I cannot wait to read the rest of this book! Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for an early glimpse of Somewhere Beyond the Sea!
First of all, let me just say how grateful I was to receive this blurb early! I could not believe I could be so lucky! It felt so good to be back with Arthur, Linus and all of the wonderful children we have all grown to love! I was beyond ecstatic to learn this book is from Arthrur’s POV! I am very interested to learn more about him and to see where this next book will take us! Looking forward to absolutely blowing through this book once it is release in September!!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is the sequel we have all been waiting for. This excerpt gives us just enough to know that TJ Klune nailed it with this follow up to The House in The Cerulean Sea. I can not wait to get the full book and finish this amazing story!
Thank you NetGalley & Tor Publishing Group for an ARC copy of this book.
I absolutely loved the previous book that it was a no-brainer that I would pre-order this one right away. I am eagerly waiting to see what is in store for these amazing characters in this instalment. The excerpt clearly leaves us at a key juncture in the book where some major things are about to be unraveled and I for one cant wait to know what is DICOMY planning for Arthur and Linus. I’m looking forward to reading the full book!
I was ecstatic to dive into an excerpt of this story. When it comes to sequels, I often fret over forgetting crucial details from the first book, but that concern was swiftly dispelled here. The author skillfully reintroduces all the characters, seamlessly immersing readers back into their world. The joy that Arthur and Linus found at the conclusion of The House in the Cerulean Sea persists, the orphans remain delightful, and there's an intriguing sense of impending darkness. I can hardly wait to delve deeper into the story when the full book is released in September!
This was my introduction to T.J. Klune's work, and I was thoroughly captivated by the excerpt. I can't wait to delve deeper into the story and eagerly anticipate getting my hands on the full book when it's released!
Big thank yous to Netgalley, TJ Klune, and Tor Publishing for letting me read this excerpt.
I am SO excited to read the whole thing in September. I wasn't sure what I was expecting for a sequel to House in the Cerulean Sea. I sort of wondered what Klune might do to give it the stakes that the first one did. I am both excited and nervous to see what's in store for Arthur and Linus as they engage with Extremely Upper Management and DICOMY. Just like Arthur, I wrestle with the choice to hide away in my cozy safe spaces while at the same time feeling that call to use my position and privilege to advocate for those with less access to places of power. It's a scary proposition.
I love seeing Sal growing into the person he'll become as an adult and when he talks with Arthur about listening to the hearings I felt in in my heart.
September can't come fast enough!
I was thrilled to read an excerpt of this story. With sequels, I always worry I’ll have forgotten too many details from the first book, but that isn’t the case here. The author reintroduces everyone seamlessly. The happiness Arthur and Linus earned at the end of The House in the Cerulean Sea continues, the orphans are fantastic, and there is a sense of looming darkness. I’m looking forward to reading more in September when the book is released.
Thank you to Tor and Netgalley for the chance to read an early excerpt! The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books of all time. I am constantly recommending it to friends and family, so I'm excited that there is now going to be a sequel! I was immediately thrilled to be back with Arthur et al again. The opening 4 chapters had all the trademark charm and wit that I count on from TJ Klune. I cannot wait until the full book releases and I can continue the story!
The smile I had one my face coming back to this island and this family… it truly is magical how T.J. Klune can make even my cold, dark heart so happy!
While only a four chapter excerpt, Klune was able to suck me in, yet again (as if I hadn’t already pre-ordered the moment this book was announced). In four chapters alone, I laughed out loud, I teared up, and I grabbed my protest signs ready to rally! This excerpt hints that we’ll get a closer look into Arthur’s dark past and fall in love with new enchanting characters, all while supporting the right to life, love, and happiness for all.
Thank you Tor Publishing, NetGalley and TJ Klune for this advanced digital excerpt; September can’t come fast enough!
While this excerpt is short, it builds excitement and confidence in the rest of the book. I’m looking forward to reading the full story!
AHHH! thanks to netgallery i got the chance to read an excerpt of this book! even only getting a few chapters all the amazing things from the first book came rushing back! the characters and the chemistry?! i love them all so much! i also very much enjoy the little bit of a darker tone that this story is taking compared to the first one, but also surrounded by the happiness that was in the first! i can’t wait to read it when it comes out !!
In the second of the House in the Cerulean Sea series, we pick up again with Arthur Parnassus, Linus and the children at the house before shifting scenes to the government for a hearing about the laws around magical peoples. While the excerpt is only the first four chapters the writing is witty and joyful despite tackling heavy topics of discrimination. It sets up as it’s going to take us deeper into Arthur’s story whereas the other book focused more on the children and Linus. I’m very looking forward to reading the whole thing when it comes out!
I’ve received the first four chapters from Tor Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and I am so excited to read the rest! Somewhere Beyond the Sea follows exactly what I hoped its sequel would include - Arthur and Linus, completely in love; their found family up to fun shenanigans; trying to affect change for magical people. I’m really intrigued by the build up to the political hearing and what that will bring and I will definitely be reading the rest of this the weekend it comes out!
The highly-anticipated sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea is slated to come out this September!
I was lucky to be granted an advanced copy excerpt (guessing the first 1/4 of the book) so while I can’t give an accurate review/description just yet, the book picks up not far from where the last one ended. Caring for the fun and spunky magical children of their strange orphanage on Marsyas Island, Arthur Parnassus and Linus Baker are living the dream. But when Arthur is called to the city to testify about his own troubled past, a new fight begins.
I devoured this excerpt and can’t wait for the full release! Thank you to Tor Publishing for the advanced excerpt copy in exchange for my honest (and early) opinion.
I didn't think I could be any more excited for this sequel until I got access to read a few sneaky chapters.
I was so happy to be back with these characters, I am so thrilled to watch them fight the good fight. I am beyond invested in all of their wellbeing and happiness. I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH.
There are few books that I’ve ever truly LOVED more than The House in the Cerulean Sea, so when I saw that Arthur would get a chance to tell his story, the countdown began. I feel so lucky to have read an excerpt of Somewhere Beyond the Sea; but imagine my dismay when I realized it was just that…an excerpt. How am I supposed to wait 5 months to see how this story ends?
Written with the same charm, humor, and underlying messages, Somewhere Beyond the Sea had me captivated from page 1.
I don’t have too much to review about the plot, specifically, since I only got to read 70 pages, but I can say that the kids are still hilarious, Arthur is still wise, and Linus is still, well, Linus.
The two men set out to the mainland so that Arthur testify about his experience as a child on behalf of magical youth everywhere. They have some help, but the excerpt alludes to trouble brewing.
As a special education teacher, these books have everything a classroom needs to have a rich reading experience. TJ Klune is a master of allegory. Thank you for shining a (much needed) spotlight on the importance of accepting one another as we are.
It's going to be torture waiting until September to be able to finish this one! Seeing Arthur and Linus again was such a treat (even though it's so short because it's only an excerpt *cries in bookworm*)
Klune is a fantastic writer and story teller, I have yet to be disappointed by one of his books. Any Klune fan will be anxiously waiting for this one!
I could not be more excited for Somewhere Beyond the Sea! I was a massive fan of Cerulean Sea and it’s one of the main books that got be back into reading, so I can’t wait to follow Arthur, Linus, and the kiddos in this book! The first 4 chapters made me fall in love with them all over again! This seems like it’s going to be the perfect blend of cute little giggles and tears as they fight for their rights as magical people.
Can't wait for the book -- the excerpt made me even more excited after jumping back into this world! Just as warm and funny as I remembered.
