Last time we got Linus' story, this time we get a little further insight into Arthur's. It is SO good to be back on Marsyas Island with Arthur, Linus, and the magical "children". Reading this brought me right back to that comforting, warm feeling that we only get from T.J. Klune characters and stories. Getting the first four chapters is better than nothing, but only makes me want more!
If you haven't read The House in the Cerulean Sea yet, this is your reminder to do so and be prepared for September when this already stunning sequel hits shelves!
Thank you so much to Tor Books and NetGalley for the early excerpt, all thoughts are my own. So excited for the rest 😊
Ugh so mad this is only an excerpt! I need the whole thing now! It is so amazing to be back with Arthur, Linus, and the children. I love them so very much and already got emotional with just 4 chapters. I NEED MORE NOW!!
This excerpt got me so excited to read this book! I loved the first book so I can’t wait to jump back into this world with these characters
As always, it was perfect and I cannot wait for the full book! So nice catching up with this cast of characters.
I’m so excited for this! The first book was such a comfort read during Covid times and now we get more. Can’t wait until September.
Thank you NetGalley for the excerpt from Somewhere Beyond the Sea!
I absolutely cannot wait for this book to come out because reading about the characters from The House in the Cerulean Sea made me want to journey back and also reminded me how much I missed the characters! The magical orphans are the sweetest and funniest "children" (given that the gnome is hundreds of years old, but a child for a gnome). There seems to be new magical problems that have Arthur and Linus fighting for the children and orphanage. I cannot wait to dive back into this world again!!!
I NEED THE REST OF THE BOOK!!! The first four chapters simply weren’t enough. I LOVE that this story starts with a peak into Arthur’s backstory which I hope we get a bit more of. And then, the kids. It’s like TJ just knew we would need a bit of a refresher first but then we got right back into their litter personalities. And MY HEART, literally exploded. It’s almost painful how pure and kind and FUNNY they are! I immediately was reminded of the feeling that I know them in my real life and they aren’t just book characters. I also love the love between Linus and Arthur. Linus is a fearless protector of his king! This book is already hitting on so many important topics and I want every person in government/in the state of Florida to have a copy!!! I can’t wait to see where the rest of it goes!
Net Galley gave me a 4 chapter preview. While I wish I would have gotten a full ARC and not just a teaser, the 4 chapters were amazing and I cannot wait to get the full thing and take a deep dive into Arthur and Linus fighting for these children and all of magic!
Is an excerpt enough to give a book 5 stars? When it comes to Somewhere Beyond the Sea, I'm confident that the answer is YES! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m not going to lie; I 100% missed the word “excerpt” in the description and was upset when I realized I’d only get to read 4 chapters (🤣😭), but those chapters reminded me how much I love The House in the Cerulean Sea, and they confirmed that this sequel will be well worth the wait.
If you haven’t read the first book yet, you’re going to want to do that ASAP… and then you’re going to want to add this one to your TBR 🌊 (fingers crossed NetGalley adds the entire book- I CAN wait until September, but I wanna dive right into this one immediately!!)
Thank you to NetGalley & Tor for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
There happens to be something about the magic of a Klune book that activates my tear ducts and my smile lines at the same time.
I was forced to take a breather after Chapter 2 because I was just so overwhelmed with being back in this story.
It seems like Arthur and Linus are about to go on a heavy journey, and I'm glad we get to watch these precious children grow and learn about standing up and fighting for themselves and others like them.
I know it was only an excerpt, but the emotional pull I feel from these characters already is as if I've known them for thousands of pages.
The way I clicked request the SECOND I saw this up, even as an excerpt. I love being in this world, the four chapters put such a smile on my face but made me worry so much about Arthur! I really cannot wait to read the whole thing and cry all over again, just as I did with House.
5 stars
Well, wishful thinking triumphed over close reading, and I definitely requested this expecting the entire novel, but hey. I'm not going to look a gift wyvern in the mouth, you know?
I love _The House in the Cerulean Sea_ and CANNOT WAIT to read _Somewhere Beyond the Sea_ in its entirety. Arthur is back, of course, as is his household of merry magical misfits, and if these first four chapters are any indication, this is going to be another banger.
Strong start with the promise of many dozens of riveting chapters to follow!
What a TREAT to be back in this world!!! This 4 chapter excerpt put a massive smile on my face multiple times. Such a joy to be back with Arthur and Linus and the magical children! I am eagerly and anxiously awaiting the full novel!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced excerpt of this novel to read in exchange for an honest review.
Having just read the first four chapters of this book I can say that I was already drawn in the same way I was when I read The House in the Cerulean Sea. I read that book in one afternoon and enjoyed it so much I rated it five stars. While I can't give this book five stars without reading it in its entirety I can say that based on the first four chapters it is worth four and quite likely five. It has all the same charm and vibrancy of the first novel and I'm looking forward to getting to finish it. If anything the stakes felt higher in this excerpt and I'm very excited to find out what's in store for Arthur, Linus and the children.
I'll be back with an updated rating and review after I've finished the entire novel.
I wanted to say a major thank you to the team for sending me this Excerpt ARC! I cannot wait to read the full book!!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea felt like coming home after a long vacation. The excerpt was full of Klune's classic warmth, and comfort. It brought me so much joy to read about my favorite characters in a new light! I thoroughly enjoyed where the story was headed and I'm eager to how things progress!
Thank you Mr. Klune for bringing this amazing cast of characters back into our lives!! And thank you to TOR publishing group for providing this 4 chapter ARC excerpt. It has made me SO excited for the full book in September, it cannot come soon enough! I think we are all in for quite the wild ride with this one… better buckle up
I find it hard to review just an excerpt, but I will do my best!
I was excited to get a taste of this world again because I loved House in the Cerulean Sea so much. I can't even begin to say how ecstatic I was to receive this excerpt. Diving back into this world and these characters that have come to mean so much to me was a dream. I was also nervous because I didn't know what to expect, but I quickly lost all nerves once I started reading.
I love the prologue with Arthur. I felt it was a little choppy but overall it was a great inclusion, especially with how the excerpt left off, it seems his past is going to become a major focus in this book.
The first few chapters were like a warm hug. I loved seeing the kids and what shenanigans they were getting up to. It was so fun I forgot I was reading.
The last chapter is where the plot starts to come to fruition and the reader starts to realize there is more going on than what we are led to believe.
I honestly have so many questions. I'm so intrigued by where this book is going to go with what little is given. I need more! Its also hard to give a review based on what's provided because its more of a teaser and I'm left with so. Many. Questions!
Other than the prologue, every chapter felt smooth and flowed well. The first two chapters were so comforting and warm. The pacing was great. I love the build-up that's happening. It was only four chapters and a prologue but it got me hooked! I couldn't put it down and am sad I can't continue.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Tor for this excerpt. And please, please consider me if you make the full book available!
I did not realize this was just an excerpt when I requested it . . . what a cruel surprise! This excerpt included an introduction and the first four chapters of the novel. I love Klune's writing and cannot wait to read the entire book!
This book seems really good and interesting. I do wish it was the full book and not an excerpt though. It kind of sucked to only get 4 chapters.
This was a great teaser! I can’t wait to read the whole book and give my full review. TJ Klune does not miss!
