Gossip girl was one of my favorite shows ever, so in this book was described as gossip girl I knew I had to read it. Just like the show, this book was WA. Unlike the show, this book was actually why. It was twisty, it was, it was rich, it was Grammy, and I loved it!

I have been in the biggest reading slump for the last two months. I got a notification last week I got this ARC, I started reading it since I got sick over the weekend. I couldn’t put it down, At first I didn’t understand how a book could relate to Gossip Girl, a tv show about rich teenagers in the Upper East Side, and Happy Death Day, a movie about the main characters fate of feeling herself dying. Amy Christine Parker related these two themes very well and I could not wait to see how the characters moved onto the next day and what would happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who loved Gossip Girl and has read and enjoyed Freida McFadden books, along with Frieda’s books I could never guess the ending which can be very hard for an author to do. This book is one of my top mystery/thriller reads of 2024.

The comparison with Gossip Girl and Happy Death day was pretty similar! I definitely got GG vibes with this spoiled kids running around and thinking they ruled the school without any consequences. Ruby was definitely Dan in this scenario, a poor kid living amongst the rich kids and secretly running a website that ruins their reputations. This book continued to keep me guessing and on my feet, and I was unable to know where it was taking me! The plot twist with Ethan??? Dude... And oh! Lombardo?! ... I will keep my mouth shut LOL

I will have to admit, some parts of the book were a bit too farfetched for me. For example, Ruby envisioning her dead body attacking her constantly didn't seem like it had any place in this book and while the first scene they were introduced in the bathroom definitely gave me chills, it seemed out of place from there. Also, her friends being completely understandable of this omen she keeps having is wild, my friends are super supportive but they still don't believe me when I tell them I'm running on time... LOL!

I thoroughly enjoyed this "whodunnit" book and it was a perfect read for the season. Thank you to Netgalley and Amy Christine Parker for an ARC of this book for my honest opinion! :)

I enjoyed this YA novel. It has a serial killer, ghosts, young love, mystery, scandal, social media influence, and twists! Our main character, Ruby, is a scholarship student at an influential private school. Her best friends, Anton and Xavier, are a riot and made me laugh many times! They stick together after Ruby is outed as the @ReputationKiller on TikTok and believe her when she starts seeing her ghost who is warning her of her death on prom night. At the same time, a serial killer is also knocking people off in their part of town. They have a week to try to save her from her death by figuring out the mystery. It is a fun fast-paced mystery that I recommend!

This was almost a 5 star read for me! I really enjoyed this story. I was on the edge of my seat for this entire book trying to figure out who did it. This is the perfect book for spooky season especially if you want to feel jumpy while reading it at night. I loved the mystery, detective work, romance, gay best friends, and even how angry the mom would make me. Its a quick read and a little predictable but that wasn’t a problem for me. I gave it 4.5 stars because I felt like some information was missing like how we never found out what someone was doing in another characters house or who caused an “accident”. I also felt like we never learned what the FMC will do with her life after everything or her relationship.

Overall, I recommend this book to everyone because you will not be disappointed!

I really loved this book. I loved Ruby and her friends. I thought Nadine was complex and complicated and very real. Although I was able to figure most of the mystery out, it took me a long time to get there. My favorite part was I felt like every single piece was wrapped up and explained. Some mysteries leave plot holes in order to leave red herrings. Although there was a lot going on (some of which was definitely to throw the reader off), every single event was explained and made sense, even if it didn’t connect to the “main” conflict. This book is definitely gory and scary, which I loved. I was thrilled to see that it didn’t shy away from that. This was a great book to read right before Halloween! I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Just after Ruby is outed as the owner of the account, everyone turns against her and she sees her own ghost in a bloody prom dress. Fearing for her life, she teams up with her best friends to figure out what’s really going on. But with a serial killer on the loose and her incessant ghost breathing down her neck, Ruby’s not sure if she can survive prom night.

This is such a fun mystery thriller! If you like Gossip Girl or Happy Death Day, I’d definitely check this one out. I loved the premise and had such a fun time trying to figure out if I could guess who the killer was. I could not. I had some theories but they were wrong. The ending has such a good twist! It’s a super fast-paced read and keeps you really captivated as Ruby investigates and things go wrong. And the Florida setting just adds to the whole eerie atmosphere with the alligators and swamps.

Ruby is a really great main character. She definitely has a chip on her shoulder but its also justified. She’s very intelligent and handles a lot of these crazy situations really well. I enjoyed her relationship with her mother and best friends and loved the growth she goes through. The friendship group was really cute and sweet. I loved that they were all helping investigate. The romance was sweet and Alexander was a great addition to the cast of characters.
Overall, if you’re looking for a mystery thriller with lots of twists and turns, definitely check this one out!

I have mixed feelings about this book. Overall, it was a good teen slasher thriller, very much in the same vein as the Scream franchise. However, I had a lot of trouble getting a handle on the main character, Ruby. She’s the kind of person who calls their mother by her first name. She’s very naive and immature, but is also an excellent investigator? Additionally, she is haunted by a dead version of herself which was great creep factor but just felt a bit disjointed. When it was scary and tense it was a great read, the in between story was hit and miss for me.

This was a fast-paced and enjoyable read! The author did a great crafting a really interesting plotline that pulls you right into the mystery .

The description says this book is Gossip Girl meets Happy Death Day and honestly that description is so spot on. It's one of the main reasons I wanted to read this book.

I really like when Thrillers are blended with Supernatural themes so I think that may have been my favorite part of this story.

Overall I would recommend checking this book out and looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This was a great book! I recently read the One of Us is Lying series by Karen McManus, and this book had exactly those vibes with a slight paranormal twist. This was a fantastic story that kept me riveted and wanting to know more. I really liked Ruby and her besties, Anton and Xavier. They are the kind of friends you want to have your back—everything from the prom-posal to the parkour and helping her with her investigations.

I like that Ruby realized what she had done wasn’t very good, but that she also used her skills to take down the real problems and solve such a huge mystery. There were lots of twists and turns that I loved, and some that I didn’t see coming at all. My only complaint is that the ending felt a little rushed. I would have liked another chapter or so to explain what happened after that last big thing.

Overall, fantastic book I’m so glad I picked up!

I was hooked from the start! The characters were set up really well and weren’t overly explained. I really liked the chapter names being song titles! This book and the characters had so much charm! There wasn’t ever really a dull moment in the story and it never seemed to drag. I do think that there was a lot of different storylines going on and it may be confusing, but honestly I loved it!

In a parallel story, Ruby is being "haunted" by her ghost, pointing to the fact that she will die on the night of her senior prom. She has exactly one week to find out who wants to kill her. Along with her friends, Anton and Xavier she launches an investigation to find her killer before her killer takes her life.

Who wants Ruby dead? Is it one of her classmates who learn that she is behind the @ReputationKiller blog? Is it the serial killer who seems to be hunting exclusively in the neighborhood where she lives? Is it someone even closer to her?

What is the motive? Is it that she has posted embarrassing content on her classmates? Is it someone random that has put a target on her back? Is it someone with a motive to get her family's property?

As a young reader book, I really enjoyed this story. It had all of the teenage angst you would expect; a little bit of romance, intrigue and suspense, and relationship dilemmas.

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this book. The beginning of this book starts out with Ruby being out at ReputationKiller and then she sees her own ghost that dead. It's a pretty intense start to mystery book. Even though it's young adult this author writes it much dark and with a lot of people dying. It's gets extremely crazy at the end. It's a good book to pick up if you want a thriller with a smart main character who has an amazing group of friends. You could picture the attraction where they live her mom's diner and Ruby throwing a pie at Hunter. You could picture how the posh hotel where something happened to one of the students. Especially you could picture how creepy the serial killer could look in that mask and Ruby coming upon him again and again. Ruby is one brave girl because I dont' know if I would be trying to solve this if that happened to me.

Ruby has an incognito blog where she outs the upper class and shows the REAL people. When she is found out after her latest reveal, everyone is out to get her. She has been having flashes of her dead ghost in her prom dress, so she knows she only has until prom to live.

I thought this was a well written mystery/horror story. It kept me turning pages to see if she and her friends could survive. I liked her friends Anton and Xavier who always had her back and how creative Ruby was in finding clues as to who wanted her dead and why.

It was a good book. I understand and see the hype around it. I just couldn’t relate to it. It’s probably because I need to move away from young adult since I cannot relate to high schoolers with all this fancy technology and new trends.

The description of this book said it’s a mix of “Gossip Gorl” and “Happy Death Day”, and that was what sold me. I love a good mystery, especially with a GG inspired element. Plus, the chapter titles are all titles of songs, and that was just too good.

We meet Ruby Toller, a Florida girl who attends a prestigious school on scholarship. Ruby has never been a fan of the popular crowd, and the rich members of the town itself, especially as many of them messed with her family. This was how she became the anonymous face behind an account called Reputation Killer, exposing the secrets of the elite, both students and adults alike.

After a vicious exposé, Ruby is hiding to avoid being outed as RK when she’s confronted by the ghost of a dead girl, who reveals herself to be a near future Ruby. This sets off a domino effect, as Ruby’s identity as Reputation Killer is then exposed, which brings forth a long list of enemies, any of whom would love to see Ruby’s end.

Besides dealing with her mom’s crappy boyfriend, and the possibility of her mom selling the family business, Ruby takes her main clue, her ghost wearing a bloodied, wet prom dress, and works her way through those she’s wronged to find her potential killer before prom night seals her fate.

This book reminded me of “Here Lies A Vengeful Bitch”, and I’m really enjoying this story/plot of “girl sees her own ghost and has to find her killer”. I really enjoyed the way Parker incorporated the ghost and allowed her to change based on things that Ruby did (like destroying her dress, and the ghost showing up in another) as well as the way that the ghost could physically interact with Ruby as well. I enjoyed the cast of characters, and I loved how the relationship with Ruby and Alexander grew organically rather than feeling like they were shoved together. Overall, I cannot recommend this book more. I read it in less than 12 hours, and I could not put it down.

This is going to be the perfect book for someone who wants a slasher vibe but also loves calling out celebrity culture- especially when that call-out gets messy. There are some interesting twists and turns in this one.
