Eighteen months ago Priscilla was falling in love with Gavin, Viscount Lennox, who seemed sincere in his attention, but when his seduction didn't get him anywhere he left. Rejected, Priscilla wants revenge. Now she is the companion to the the Dowager Duchess of Englewood, the rogue's grandmother. Unfortunately, Gavin is now the Duke of Englewood and has decide to stay with his grandmother. Someone is stealing money from his estate. Then the deadly accidents begin. It's a mystery with no clues. Add a snake, a runaway horse, a sprained ankle and a rainstorm, Gavin and Priscilla are compromised. Marriage puts a stronger need to solve the mystery of his missing money and the accidents. An unexpected twist in revealing the guilty. Heated kissing only.
Not just a romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Cilla is a spinster who has had two former suitors but has been jilted each time. She goes to her grandmother's friend to be her companion. To her shock, Gavin, the rogue who left her last, is the lady's grandson. He says he has changed. She doesn't believe him. Through several mishaps, they keep getting thrown together. She eventually sees that he is a changed man. This is an enjoyable, sweet romance. I will admit that during the anaphylactic scene I was a bit nervous because this is the time before benadryl and epi pens.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
Sent to be a companion to the duchess. She discovers the duke is the man who courted her and then just left.
I really enjoyed reading this book and getting to know the characters. Writing about how people can change was a wonderful way to spend an evening.

Will the Rake Get His Second Chance?
He was a rake who treated women like toys, and he broke her heart. Would she ever forgive him?
Priscilla had given up on marriage and became a lady’s companion. Little did she know that the lady was grandmother to the man who broke her heart.
Gavin said he was a changed man. Was he, and could Priscilla forgive the hurt he inflicted on her eighteen months ago? Priscilla was still drawn to Gavin. Would love win in the end?
While navigating the intricacies of their relationship, Gavin and Priscilla must contend with a mystery. Someone was stealing from Gavin, and mysterious and dangerous accidents kept happening to him. Who was stealing from Gavin, and who wished him harm? I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like historical romance with mystery and suspense.
I really enjoyed this book. The romance was very cute and I really loved the setting that the book is set in. I would highly recommend this book!
I had tons of fun with this! This book is the third book in the Worthington Legacy series but can be read as a standalone and after this I think I’ll be picking up the others! The book deals with Priscilla, a daughter of a penniless lord who becomes a companion to the Dowager Duchess of Englewood. There she meets Gavin Worthington, the Dowager's grandson who she knows as Viscount Lennox, someone she wasn’t too fond of. Throughout this their romance slowly unfolds and it's absolutely beautiful to watch. There isn’t spice in this book and there didn’t need to be at all, the romance is beautiful enough and the historical vibes are PERFECT! The storm scene where they were stuck in a cabin together had me swooning.
There is also a mystery in this book of who is taking Gavins money, and that kept me intrigued also since I couldn’t figure out who it was.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
“She swooned. Fetch some smelling salts”
This is the third book in the series by Marie Higgins but can be read as a stand alone.
24 year old spinster Priscilla has lost hope that she will ever find her love and become married, she has already been jilted by two men. She takes the job as a companion to her grandmothers close friend Dowager Duchess of Englewood, and soon finds out the Dowagers grandson Gavin is one of the men that spurned her love. He is a reformed “cad” since he has taken over as the new Duke of Englewood just 18 months prior when his father died. Will Priscilla accept he is a changed man?
This was a cute, easy to read regency romance. The pace and development of the story was a bit quick, though many romances have unrealistic timelines at times. My biggest concern is how affectionate they were so quickly. In the regency era, it’s all stolen glances in chaperoned rooms and the library scene was very unrealistic to the era.
Overall it was still an enjoyable read, I would rate it as a 3.5/5
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher Dragonblade- thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a straightforward, Clean Adult Regency Romance that can be read in an afternoon. With a twist of fate, the jilted female protagonist, Priscilla, must endure the company of her heart-breaker Cad. Why? As a new companion to his grandmother, she has few options but to continue. Emotions run high.
The “Cad,” Gavin, now burdened with his newfound title, must navigate the complexities of his past and prove his newfound maturity to Priscilla amidst the backdrop of a mysterious manor filled with intriguing and unexplained occurrences. Time and experience have matured him, but can he prove it to the young lady? Will they reconcile? Will they be safe?
Strengths: It features affable, dimensional characters who undergo significant transformations with each decision and event, which are sure to resonate with readers.
Weaknesses: However, despite its many strengths, the book does have its shortcomings. The storyline, though engaging, can at times feel predictable, and the brevity of the narrative leaves some events and personal dialogues lacking the depth they deserve. With only 150 pages in the eBook edition, readers may find themselves craving a bit more substance to fully immerse themselves in the story.
Overall, “Her Adorable Cad” offers a delightful escape into the world of Regency Romance, complete with captivating characters and a touch of mystery. While it may have its flaws, its charm and elegance make it a worthy addition to any romance lover's bookshelf.

Determined not to succumb to his charms, Priscilla refuses to believe the duke has changed his ways. Will Priscilla be able to resist the attraction she still feels? Find out in this enjoyable trip back in time to Regency England. Thank you, NetGalley, for the review copy.
Lovely clean story of Priscilla and Gavin. Gavin is a reformed rake, yet Priscilla doesn't believe him. In the meantime, Gavin is losing his estate. The third book in the series, this story has lots of self reflection, a bit of a mystery and some action. Set in a time where two people must marry if caught together, this author stays true to the requirements even with nothing happening. This is often rare in some romance stories. Story moves along nicely with a few twists.
Her Adorable Cad by Marie Higgins is the third in the Worthington Legacy series. Priscilla Hartwell has escaped her home to become the companion to the Dowager Duchess of Englewood. The Dowager doesn’t really need a companion but as a friend to Cilla’s grandmother, she was happy to help. All was going well until the Dowager’s grandson appeared, the new duke. It turned out Cilla had known him as Viscount Lennox, a man she knew to be a rake and a cad. He recognized her as well, and found it difficult to believe she had changed so much in eighteen months. It was going to be a tricky situation for all. He had a lot on his mind, between the theft from his coffers he couldn’t figure out, and the odd accidents that had been happening as of late.
This was a good story, but the entire time I was reading, it felt as if it were a race to the finish. The detail was there, but it wasn’t quite right. Gavin had been a rake and treated plenty of women poorly. He recognized that fact and was trying to do better. Priscilla was a good companion to his grandmother and an even better one for him. The plot was decent, with enough twists to make it interesting. It almost looked as if it was not to happen, the romance. Either of them could have ended up dead several times. She didn’t have to forgive him, but she did. Could they make a good life together after all that had happened? Thanks Marie for a pleasant book.
