Looking for a destination read, look no further! Set in the tropical location of Turks and Caicos, THEIR LAST RESORT features a workplace romance between Paige and Cole, at the luxury resort they both work at.
The banter and tension was great, and I loved the audiobook format, which always does the trick when I want to read but can’t find the time on the go.
*many thanks to Montlake and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review
Their Last Resort is a fun, summertime romance between two coworkers, who seemingly are at-odds, at a vacation resort!
Paige and Cole are coworkers at a resort in Turks and Caicos. He’s assistant director of the resort and she works and leads guest activities at the resort. They kissed once but have kept their distance since and both assume the wrong thing a lot, but now with a hurricane coming to the island, they’re forced to shelter-in-place and spend time together!
Paige’s character was very frustrating and immature, her actions and thoughts weren’t great. But her and Cole are both kind of lost with their “hate” towards one another, so they kinda deserve one another? 🤷🏼♀️ I used to read a ton of this author’s books years ago, and her newer ones I’ve tried just haven’t been as much of a hit.
I received the audio ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
This was a cute and fun Island romp of a romance. I was swept away for an afternoon and I had a wonderful time.
Paige and Cole both work at a resort on a beautiful island. They had a missed opportunity to get together a few months back and have since been keeping their distance. But when a tropical storm hits and forces all the employees to double up in the hotel... they end up in an Only One Bed scenario that gets all our blood pumping.
I haven't read an R.S. Grey in a hot minute, so this was a nice little read to kick off the summer. I also listened to this on audio and the performances were fun and comedic and sultry all in one.

I’ve been a fan of RS Grey’s writing for years. She writes some of the best inner monologues filled with realistic & hilarious self deprecating humor. While I didn’t love this one compared to her other work, I enjoyed my time here.
Their Last Resort is marketed as an enemies to lovers romance when really it’s more of a mutual “I like you & I don’t know what to do about it, so I’m going to nettle you instead.” This worked for me, especially since it’s clear that he falls first & is just bidding his time.
I’m always up for a destination setting & I love a romance set at a hotel / inn, so a resort set on Turks and Caicos really did it for me. The forced proximity brought on by a hurricane worked & I loved the only one bed tension that followed.
The timeline bounced around a bit at the beginning that left me occasionally confused & having to go back to reread. This is also fairly short which is great as it makes this a quick read, but the romance felt like it was lacking the depth Rachel usually brings leaving me not as connected with the characters.
I listened to this on audio & you can too if you have KU or snagged this as an Amazon first read in April. I loved the narrators & was able to finish this in only one day!
4/5 stars
Thank you Netgalley and R.S. Grey for this book in exchange for my honest review!
I really liked the narrator and they made this book even better!
I flew through this book! I can always count on a R.S. Grey book to be filled with amazing banter, characters that have depth, steamy scenes and a beautiful ending and this book was no different. I loved Paige and her friend group as well as Cole’s rule following and sometimes uptight personality. Cole’s character was strong and it was cool to see his bravery unfold. Although I enjoyed this book, it felt a bit repetitive of other books by this author but I also know what I’m getting when I pick up one of her books!
You’d like this book if you like:
•just one bed
•enemies to lovers
•opposites attract
•frenemies
•tropical settings (Turks and Caicos)
•banter, chemistry and steam
I was so excited to give this author a try, I have heard great things, but this book just did not work for me. I could not get into their relationship or feel the chemistry between them. I just had a difficult time connecting with them. The FMC was a little too over the top for me and felt a little YA with her unreasonable thoughts and the way she acted. Also, the instalove for me is a big nono and that immediately turns me off.
This was a first read for me from RS Grey. It was a cute and easy read. I loved all the banter between the FMC and the MMC. Luci Christian and Wyeth Watts did a great job on bringing this story to life and making it sound believable. If you are looking for a light read with some spice, then this will be a good choice for you.

Paige Young and Cole Clark work at a luxury island resort. While Paige spends her days on excursions, Cole is the assistant director of the resort. They are two polar opposites and can't stop driving each other crazy. However, their situation takes a turn when Cole is tasked with firing Paige, all while a hurricane threatens the island, and they have to share a room.
✨Thought✨
I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear while listening to this audiobook. Paige's inner thoughts were simply endearing, adding a touch of cuteness to the storyline. I found myself genuinely invested in both main characters. The narrative carried a light and cheerful tone, providing exactly what I needed.
What truly elevated this audiobook experience was the amazing dual narration by Luci Christian and Wyeth Watts. Their voices perfectly embodied their characters. Listening to Luci Christian's interpretation of Paige was an absolute joy!
Overall, if you're looking for a charming rom-com, this is an excellent option. Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for this ALC.
Super cute audiobook and easy listen. I loved the banter and interactions between the two. I loved the setting in Turks and Caicos!
Cole is Paige's work nemesis, from the first day they meet, his cold demeanor is the exact opposite to her sunny one. Each day they throw barbs at one another and it's obvious to everyone around them (except them, it would seem) that they are made for one another. after a few vulnerable moments, Paige isn't sure that Cole really truly likes her, so she tries to protect herself by putting all the walls up and trying to find someone else to focus her attention on.
I really did enjoy the chapters we got to see from Cole's POV and I will admit, seeing Paige try to make Cole jealous, got a little cringey, but I lived for Cole. I loved his patience with her, his quiet brooding and his willingness to banter back and forth with her. He was so shy and like a little puppy I just wanted to hug. I love workplace romance, especially when it is enemies to lovers and the boy falls hard and first. So if those tropes are your jam, you need to check this out. 3.5 stars rounded up cause I really did love Cole.
The audio was fantastic.
Thanks to Brilliance, Netgalley and RS Grey for an early copy.
Set in Turks and Caicos, we're transported to a luxury island resort where Paige and Cole work. The two never get along, always sniping at each other and poking fun when the other does something wrong. It's all fun and games until Cole is ordered to fire Paige. And then things start to take another turn. This was so easy to listen to. I highly recommend the audiobook as I felt like I was there on the island in real time. The narration was fantastic, the writing style flowed so well and I loved the witty banter between our characters. Such a fun read!
A good book for romance beginners that want a slow burn with tame spice. Nothing shocking or dark in this romance. A cute rom-com with an enemies to lovers storyline. I thought the Male narrator sounded too old for the part, but the female narrator was perfect.
Oh my! Paige and Cole stole my heart. I love their witty banter and Paige's inner thoughts so much. I listened to the audiobook and Luci Christian and Wyeth Watts just nailed these characters and their personalities so perfectly. The chemistry was hot and you could feel their attraction from the beginning. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and it is perfection in this story. I can't wait for a physical copy to put on my favorites shelf.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.
I've read quite a few of RS Grey's books and she definitely excels in the enemies-to-lovers trope. In Their Last Resort it's sort of a faux enemies-to-lovers situation - Paige and Cole are attracted to each other but won't admit it to themselves. There's a wealth of great tropes here: grumpy-sunshine, only one bed, work romance, forced proximity, and he falls first, and I enjoyed them all within the story.
I generally liked Paige, but felt like she edged right up to the line of ditsy. Happily she never actually went over that line. And Cole was a terrific grumpy boss/boyfriend.
Their Last Resort is a light, tropey romance and I enjoyed visiting Turks and Caicos with Grey and her characters.
