Wow! Thank you so much for allowing me to be an ARC for this book.
What an incredible, addicting, enticing mystery. You grow to truly love the characters and their growth through the book. I was drawn into the book within the first chapter and couldn’t put it down. I hope to read more of yours books in the future!
One of my top 10 books of the year! A story about loss and grief that always gives you hope. I can’t recommend this one enough!
A little boy disappears without a trace. – when he disappeared was 1985 so the past timeline was set then and the present day was set in 2006. The structure worked perfectly for this type of story, the range of characters, the different voices of people in the town, who may or may not have been keeping secrets but alos we get to hear from Davy himself, the missing boy, who tells us hour by hour what went on that night – this is such a great example of a mystery that had a thriller pace. The author was inspired by and lists many of the kids who went missing in the 80s, for example adam walsh- excellent full cast narration with the audio
I wasnt sure about this book was it turned out to be a quick read and kept me engrossed. Highly recommend.
This was such a good book! I like how it is touching and heartbreaking. The book does make you feel real emotions which is good writing on the authors part. I think it was a bit unrealistic at moments but its okay. I like the theme of longing and lost childhood
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
Davy, at age 11, went missing in his small town, hometown. This book follows all the people impacted by his disappearance such as his parents, his older brother, a new friend, and the neighbor suspected of the crime.
To survive the event, the older brother, Thaddeus, writes a memoir. He is now on tour due to excellent book sales. When the book begins, he gets a call that there's been a development in the case. This happens 20 years into the disappearance. Thaddeus is strongly urged, by an old friend, to get home to support his now-divorced parents.
I felt the author did an in-depth job of showing how wide and long is the impact of a life-altering event.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Harper Muse for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.
It’s a sad story and an emotional rollercoaster.
Davy has been missing for over 20 years when his favourite jacket is found.
There are two timelines, the night Davy disappeared and the present day.
Davy’s older brother Thaddeus has written a best selling memoir about his family tragedy, which has been a huge success, but does not reveal what really happened that night.
Will the opening of this cold case bring the family some truth. There was a chief suspect 20 years ago, was he the person responsible?
Heartache and sadness can cause huge rifts in family relationships and as the story is told we see how the Malcor family dealt with their grief.
A story of loss, regrets and hope. A story of a fractured family.
This is my first book by this author and I am now keen to read more

Davy is the protagonist who went missing 11 years ago. The police have no clue as to where he went it's become a stagnant file on their desks. Fast forward to the present, Davy's older brother, Thaddeus writes a best selling memoir of his memory of that devastating night. Only, it seems not the whole story was depicted in his book. After a new discovery, the family is thrust back together and are forced to faced reality once again.
This was incredibly captivating from start to finish. The writing was top tier, I couldn't put this down. While it does have a crime/suspense element to it, it does lean more toward the general fiction genre. You can't go into this expecting a fast paced thriller, or a huge plot twist. This is definitely a slow and steady burn and character driven.
I wasn't disappointed by the lack of twists because this was intended to capture the emotions of the characters and was very sad. This has a real haunting and eery small town feel to it. At points, it felt like a criminal minds episode and then other moments it felt more like a sad drama movie about grief and the characters despair at the unknown.
These characters are flawed and it was interesting to observe their responses to the the situation. The choice of dual timelines kept me engaged. I appreciated how realistic this was without the dramatic flares - it's horrible to think how many missing children disappear without a trace...
Thank you Harper Muse and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
Books about missing children are not an easy read. In this novel, young Davy goes missing one night when his older brother and friends are drinking beer and playing outdoor games. The aftermath is what is focused on here. Told in flashbacks, hope drives the characters in current time while the past is full of dread. The not knowing evokes both. The first half of the book draw a bit but the second half finds its flow. Overall, a solid read.

A Saturday night in a small southern town, every parents worst nightmare, a little boy disappears without a trace.
No one knows what happened to him the night he went missing 20 years ago. When a piece of his clothing is unexpectedly found the cold case reopens and once again the inner turmoil begins again for the boy's loved ones and community.
Will there finally be answers?
This is a story of loss, regret, hope and redemption.
Captivating storytelling and characters kept me turning the pages.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Muse for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I picked up this book for the fall vibes, mystery, and family drama, and I was surprised by the depth of the family story and the grief that spools out through the the pages. I have a son who's away at college, so the story of the missing boy and especially his brother's feelings really got me. I love a mystery, and this book does follow a mystery, but is so much more about the characters and community affected by the mystery. Great read, and thank you to NetGalley and Harper Muse for the gifted copy of this book.
On a Saturday night over 20 years ago, TJ Malcor and his younger brother Davy biked to a nearby cornfield to hang out with their friends. At the end of the evening, Davy disappeared without a trace, and he has not been seen since. Two decades later, Davy’s jacket that he was wearing that night is found, causing everyone in the town and elsewhere to focus on his disappearance again, including a reopening of the cold case. Told from the perspective of four individuals impacted by Davy’s disappearance, the book unfolds at a fast pace as the reader slowly learns more about that fateful evening. The novel delves into themes of guilt, regret, and the crushing impact on those left behind when a family member goes missing. This one will be a great fit for fans of family dramas and compelling stories.
Every Moment Since

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
In this "neatly crafted story about lives connected and changed by one night" (New York Journal of Books), four people are bound by tragedy. Perfect for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid and Jessica Knoll.
A small Southern town. An ordinary Saturday night. A little boy disappears without a trace.
With hauntingly vivid prose, Marybeth Mayhew Whalen peels back the curtain on the inner turmoil of those who were left behind in the small Southern community as they pick up the pieces that remain and press forward into the light to find hope and healing.
A true family saga story with subtle hints of mystery woven throughout. Whalen’s prose shines in this incredibly moving yet suspenseful novel. Sure to capture book club attention, EVERY MOMENT SINCE is a novel that will keep people talking!
Thanks to Harper Muse and NetGalley for this ARC. My first by this author and I really enjoyed the writing style. This was a fantastic slow burn of domestic suspense that had me thoroughly invested in the characters.. 4 Stars
One of the best books I’ve read all year. I loved the storytelling in the dual timelines and from the different perspectives. Seeing how this tragedy affected so many people in the community and how that shaped them throughout the years was very realistic and heartbreaking. The ending was a great twist that I didn’t see coming. I also appreciate how you can still feel sorry Phillip, even though he was involved in such an awful thing and kept it a secret for so many years. This novel was so well written and told the story well.
Every Moment Since by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen is a well-written novel that skillfully combines mystery and family drama set against the backdrop of the small Southern town of Wynotte, North Carolina. The book’s dual timelines and multiple perspectives bring a unique depth to the story, allowing readers to experience the ripple effects of Davy Malcor's disappearance from every angle. I was especially captivated by how distinct and complex each character felt—whether it was Thaddeus, wrestling with the consequences of his memoir, or Anissa, whose hidden connection to Davy adds another layer to the who-done-it intrigue.
The pacing was a little slow for me in the middle, but Whalen’s resolution was well worth it. She wraps up the mystery in a way that feels both realistic and satisfying, allowing each character a sense of closure and hope for a better future. This book is perfect for readers who appreciate stories of healing, second chances, and the unbreakable bonds of family.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary copy. All opinions stated here are my own.
I was able to read a finished copy of this book and it was really good and held my interest. I would recommend it to any reader from new to thrillers to those who read a lot of thrillers (3.75 stars)
This was such a heart rendering story. A mystery that devastated a family. Each family member dealt with lost and tragedy in different and unique ways. All the emotions and with twists that keep you turning the page!
Another excellent mystery book from this author. I really enjoyed this one. The pacing was great. The different points of view and types of writing kept the story fresh and moving. I highly recommend this one!
This is the second book that I have read from this author and I enjoyed it more than the first one. This book is told by alternating point of views that moves the story along and covers the emotions and thoughts of the different characters. I felt that there was a lot of repetition because of the characters and their position to the missing child or family. The part about the police liaison was just odd as she never left the area. It is really
not plausible in a small town that they wouldn't know who she was. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley. This was a good read.
