I liked this book, but there were things at times I disagreed with. The total topic of the book, though , was to show that Christianity is in America and it will be staying and not going anywhere for a long time. Dyron Daughrity tries to show all the different denominations of Christianity in United States of America. It shows the founding of our nation, how it was founded on Christian principles and religion, but also welcoming other religions as long as they don’t cause any harm to our country. I am thankful for our founding and that others keep fighting to continue to support our founding and protect our Constitution and Homeland. I’m glad Daughrity wrote this book to show those that think or believe Christianity is a dying religion in America that it’s not. Today it’s still strong and true and solid. But we must always be vigilant and keep our eyes on God’s Word and make sure the gospel is taught and when it’s taught that it’s taught true.

What’s going on with Christianity in America?
It’s an ever-present and ever-evolving question. In American Christianity Today: Establishment, Decline, and Revival, Dyron Daughrity attempts to present a picture of Christianity in America in the early 2020s.
The author spends much of the book surveying the situation of Christianity in America: some of its heritage, its political associations, a fairly wide look at the different major Christian traditions of Catholicism, Evangelicalism, mainline Protestantism, Black churches, Pentecostalism, Orthodoxy, Anabaptists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and Adventists, perspectives on issues like immigration, women and their roles, interfaith and ecumenical dialogue, global missions, and approaches to societal issues, and important aspects of faith and its practice like entertainment, music, youth programs, megachurches, religious sites, and post-secondary education, and some considerations of the different ways Christianity expresses itself in urban and rural contexts.
There is much in this work which is commendable: it’s always good to get an updated feel for the various expressions and issues in Christianity across the country. If your viewpoint about Pentecostalism or megachurches is still set from the 1990s, for instance, it does not really reflect the many changes in those movements over the past few decades.
The author seems to have a generally politically conservative perspective which sometimes comes through, especially in terms of what seems to be the author’s main thesis, which is to defend the concept of America as a “Christian nation.” That America has a lot of professing Christians in it is something very few would argue against; why the premise would otherwise need to stand in light of the work as a survey of the state of Christianity in the 2020s is not immediately apparent.
Nevertheless, if one wants to get an overview of Christianity in America right now, this book does well at providing it.

This book was really interesting.I learned a lot about the different religions and how they came about. The black woman especially good too because how this woman Became a creature in 1800 when black people were not even taught to read. And how she wasn't amazing because she kept going forward and preaching what she believed. This book was very well written because every section had a different story about these churches and how they played.Important part in the world especially in america. How the P e n t e c o s t a movement was started on los angeles o Out west. This was really interesting because as it began but now it's all over the world. Christianity is very different in many respects.Because everybody has a different division of it. I like how she explained the different wakenings in the United States and that was pretty interesting.. The history is amazing in this book.Because it comes back to europe and then to america and how included every aspect of american life. This would be a really good book to teach in high school or college to explain the difference and how everybody can get along
