Beautiful cover attracted me, but it took me years to start reading "Eastern Europe!"
I love Tomek Jankowski's writing style and wealth of information. The humor helps immensely. Nothing stodgy, though I find some of this to be overwhelming because I have a PDF of the book. The PDF makes it difficult to imagine what the print copy looks like.
I will go to Goodreads to write more about the book.
Thank you for the ARC.
This is an incredibly thorough book on everything related to Eastern Europe, from pronunciation to languages to religion to history. It's sometimes entertaining but is also just a ton of information, which may be more than some folks need. Note that it's designed for adults and not for kids, but it's suitable for teens who are studying the region. Also note that I am not from Eastern Europe and am not an expert on the region, so I just have to assume it's accurate. The author does seem to fit both criteria, so I assume it's as accurate as anything can be (folks always quibble about the details). This would be a great book for anyone wanting to learn more about the region and its history.
