An Excellent story again by Ms. Palmer. Each story never fails to delight. I liked the romance and the storytelling.

Rancher's Law (Harlequin Special Edition) by Diana Palmer
This was not one of my favorite Diana Palmer books. I had a very hard time getting into this book, and I almost DNF this book a couple of times. Overall, I just found this book to be ok.

The "Hero" was just so awful to the heroine that I was rooting for her to find someone else who treated her better.

I am a HUGE Diana Palmer reader. I have read every book she has written and to be honest I have mostly loved them all. This book was the worst one I have ever read by her. Why? Well because its mostly in the past. The book ends around 74% on my kindle and we only get back to the present around the 60% of the book. The majority of the book takes place about 7-8 years before and tells of what happened with Cal and Amelia. I really do not like books that are so in the past. I want stories NOW in the present. A chapter here or there in the past is ok but the majority of the book, well that was not something I like. And the happily ever after wraps up way too easily. Cal really needed to work much harder for the way he treated Amelia than we got to see in this book. On top of all that he is cruel to her, married someone else and stays with her until she dies. I couldn't even respect him. He is not the kind of hero I can respect, and I think Amelia deserved so much better. The only part of the book I loved was Amelia and Eb!

I forgot how annoying Diana Palmer's Heroes all are and never liked doormat heroines so unfortunately this was not my cuppa tea but others may enjoy it.

Ranchers Law by Diana Palmer

I really enjoyed the story line originally. It started in the present then went back to the memories of both Cal and Amelia. Unfortunately it was too repetitive in the backstory. The same incidents were told over and over again. I think we heard how the poor African kid got blown up on three different occasions.

I thought that it would be a back and forth story between the present and the past. This didn’t happen. We had tons of Cal eating dinner over at naive Amelia’s and granddad’s; and tons of Cal not liking Edie. It finally got interesting with Cal’s recovery and all that happened to Amelia. But just when I thought it was going to get really good with Amelia joining Ebs crew, we get nothing! None of her going off to be a badass. Very disappointing.

So finally the story moved forward again and poof it was over! Amelia just rolls over and forgives and forgets AND just walks out on her job because Cal said to!

Such potential with this story that fell flat.

This is a quick read. There’s a lot of angst. It’s mostly flashbacks of the history behind Amelia and Cal. I really liked Amelia. It’s a well written book. There is a bonus short story included that was also a good story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
