WHAT GOES WITH WHAT by Julia Turshen is a cookbook that offers "100 Recipes, 20 Charts, Endless Possibilities," but I found it to be a bit disappointing. There were NO pictures (at least in the preview that I received). You should decide for yourself whether her practical suggestions based on pantry ingredients (great idea) make up for the lack of photographs and nutritional information. Her earlier cookbook, Simply Julia, is very popular (and has photos) Plus, Library Journal also liked WHAT GOES WITH WHAT, saying "The world will never have enough practical weeknight cookbooks, but what will make this one fly off the shelves is Turshen's unique cooking philosophy and wonderfully tasty results."
I was hoping this would motivate me at a time when I just moved to an adu with the most limited kitchen imaginable. Thinking about a fall season without sheet pan cooking and pumpkin baked goods seemed awful. The book didn’t actually do that but I liked and will use
the idea of a ritual before cooking. I’ve read Julia Turshen in the past and loved her recipes and thoughts so I am sure it will inspire most well equipped cooks. three stars for me four for most readers I’m guessing
