The moon and the earth had an argument. Over what, we never find out. Let's just assume it was politics. The moon takes off to find another planet to hang out with. Although the moon eventually decides there's no place like home, the reader is treated to a tour of the solar system, and a few facts about each of the visited planets. This was just okay for me. I was not a fan of the illustrations, and the fact that the celestial bodies are depicted with legs. Kids will probably feel differently.
My son loved reading "The Day Moon and Earth Had an Argument".
He was very proud to read it aloud to me and spent much time talking through the story line and even more time on the various illustrations which bring the story to life.
Embark on an astronomical adventure through the solar system with this whimsical picture book that begins with a little rift in one of the most celebrated relationships in the universe.
Thank you Chronicle Books & Netgalley for the digital ARC! I enjoyed reading this book and looking at the illustrations. It’s perfect for children who want to learn about the solar system.
I’m a sucker for children's books, even though I don’t have any kids yet. The cover of The Day Moon and Earth Had an Argument immediately caught my eye, and the adorable illustrations inside brought the story to life. I loved how the book not only told a cute and engaging story but also included interesting facts about space at the end, making it both fun and educational. It’s a wonderful read that combines creativity with learning!
Thank you to the publisher Chronicle Books / Princeton Architectural Press for providing an advance reader copy via NetGalley
This book had promise, but unfortunately, it did not deliver. It does not say why the moon and the Earth are having an argument. Nothing happens to Earth while the moon is gone, but somehow the Earth is sorry when the moon comes back. It really feels like this story could use some further editing.
This is a cute book! I am homeschooling my young children and I would like to use this as science! I like the cute story with facts about moon!
I LOVED the art style of this book (Noemi Vola never disappoints), and the concept was really cute. I was cracking up at all of the little jokes throughout which are all too relatable. I can see this being a great book recommendation as a readaloud or supplementary lesson material for school age kids who will better understand the humor. The notes in the back actually taught me information about the moon/solar system that I didn't know! Thank you for the opportunity to read this digital ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley, David Duff, and Chronicle Books @chroniclebooks / Princeton Architectural Press for this e-book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute and funny story to explain space with actual facts to kids. My kids, ages 3 & 8, thought it was a fun book and really enjoyed the facts. They thought the illustrations were funny and they reminded me of a retro design. Plus, siblings fight so they could relate to the argument side of it. Overall, this is a really cute story, and you'll have to check it out when it comes out: 09/10/2024!!
Thank you for the gifted arc!
Such a sweet story about the moon leaving earth after an argument and trying to explore on her own. She realizes that earth is home for her and returns ❤️ learning to apologize and forgive is so important!
This was a super cute story. After Moon had an argument with Earth, Moon travels through the Solar System looking for a new planet. I love that children can learn facts about each planet from this book. I did find the argument a bit forced as a reason for Moon’s travels - the reader doesn’t know why they had an argument.
I had planned on giving this book three stars,, but the ending pushed it to four stars. I love that interesting facts about the Solar System and different planets are shared, and it adds a lot of value to the book.
We love all the space books and this one did not disappoint! I loved the random facts thrown in to make the book fun for kids but also help them learn things about our planets and solar system. The artwork is very fun and colorful as well. My daughter liked finding the moon on the page.
The Day Moon and Earth Had an Argument is an incredibly cute picture book about Moon and Earth disagreeing. Moon then tries to find a new home & goes to talk to each of the planets in turn. I loved the personification of each planet. It was a super cute way to learn some basic astronomy.
Thanks to NetGalley, David Duff, and Chronicle Books for the chance to read and review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fun and inventive way to learn about our solar system! I really enjoyed this story, and liked that there were fact pages at the end about the earth and moon.
This book is not only adorable but so very clever! The illustrations are wonderful and perfectly fitting for a child. I especially loved the facial expressions on all of the planets. I love that Earth and the moon apologize to each other at the and that the Moon founds no one as fitting as Earth. I also loved that there are multiple educational pages in the back with facts surrounding the solar system.
I have to admit that I never thought I'd read a book that managed to teach about both emotions and the solar system at the same time, but somehow this book manages it. Earth and Moon have a fight, so Moon goes off to look for new friends. In the process, Moon meets the other planets in the solar system, as well as a few other celestial bodies along the way. Each planet is personified in a way that teaches about its structure and environment. The illustrations are bright and joyful, if unpolished in a way that feels underdeveloped to me but is likely appealing to kids.
Ahh I can’t wait to get my hands on a print version of this because I know I will just love it. This fun story brings to life the characters of “Moon,” “Earth,” and their galactic friends dealing with some relatable friendship issues. A great addition to any children’s collection.
"The Day Moon and Earth Had an Argument" by David Duff is a captivating and thought-provoking book! It teaches valuable lessons through the metaphorical argument between the Moon and Earth. It's always exciting to explore books that offer a fresh and imaginative take on storytelling!
Thank you to NetGalley along with the publisher for the eARC! Space lovers- this book is for you! The black pages make it feel as if you are in space with Sun as it travels to different planets to try to become friends with as it has an argument with Earth. Very colorful pictures make it appealing for the reader as well!
I absolutely loved this book. The illustrations are Vivid and pleasing. I loved the story line and the message that was being shown about forgiveness. I was thrilled to see that Pluto was in the story! My kindergartner was fascinated by the scientific facts that were sprinkled throughout the story. We also had a ton of fun with the information pages in the end that showed facts about the planets and their moons. This is one that I will definitely be bringing into our home collection!
I LOVED the illustrations. The story can be applied to kids friendships, making good social emotional connections. I also liked the facts at the end of the book.
