Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
Tuning into your heart can make all the difference when it comes to living a healthier, longer life. I found this book to be very interesting and informative. This book helps people to become much more proactive and empowered when dealing with their health. I thank Netgalley and Hachette Book Group for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This was a decent but not great read. The for,at felt off with the patient stories, doctor stories, personal stuff all mixed together. It felt strange to read recs from a doctor who admittedly ate like crap, smoked and drank so much. I felt this would have worked better if there were also examples of how to interpret and use the Garmin watch or oura data. I have a Garmin watch and have no idea what half this data means even after trying to read up on it.
While this book has some good ideas in it, unfortunately do to life It is harder for me to implement some of these techniques.
Super authentic tips. Many of the tips read like common sense but it was good to see in one place. For example, we’re all taught the necessity of sleep - but the exact number is different for everyone. I also appreciated that a test group was used.
The Pulse Cure gives a fascinating look at how to use the data created by our Garmin or other fitness wearable to measure the effect of many outside forces on our physical wellbeing. These devices measure (and then abstract using proprietary algorithms) our heart rate variability (HRV); understanding how the food we eat, how well we sleep, and how hard we exercise, among other things, affects HRV can help us be healthier and less stresses. Dr. Faero explains the science behind HRV and what it tells us about what's happening in our autonomous nervous system -- and then how to apply the HRV data to making changes for long-term health. If you want to know what those Body Battery metrics mean, this is a great resource!
