You'll Never Find Me, the first novel in Allison Brennan's new Angelhart Investigations series, hits the ground running. Margo, a solo private investigator and a bit of a lone wolf, finds that one of her cases is mixed up in her siblings' own investigation, through their family PI business, Angelhart Investigations. Margo has refused to join the family firm but finds herself partnering up with her siblings in order to solve a crime, catch a thief, and hopefully prevent murder. I enjoyed the novel's fast pace, which kept me turning the pages, eager to find out what would happen next. In addition to the crime fiction focus, the dynamics of Margo's family were very compelling. I look forward to reading future novels in this series and to learning more about Margo's backstory and family - and to seeing her investigate more cases!
You’ll Never Find Me by Allison Brennan is another one of her strong mysteries. Several plots - including family drama, romance, intrigue and deception - are intertwined to make a solid, entertaining story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.
I’ve always liked Allison Brennan’s books and I’m adding this one to the list. This was very fast paced and multiple POVs, which I enjoyed so much! Totally recommend this satisfying read!
Thank you NetGalley and Mira for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!
Personally, this book just did not work for me at all. 2 stars MAX! This book was very cheesy and a luke warm read. The plot was not surprising. The writing was generic. And it read like a Lifetime made-for-tv movie. I am not a quitter so you can imagine my relief to finally finish it!
You’ll Never Find Me - Allison Brennan

Nothing brings family together like crime.
Working alone as a private investigator is tough. Estranged from her PI family, Margo Angelhart does what she must to get by—including taking on sordid cases that pay the bills, even if she’d rather be helping those the justice system has failed.
An abused wife, an abusive cop husband, an embezzlement scheme, a cheating spouse and a whole lot more bring Margo, her brother Jack, her sisters and her mom together solving a few cases that all seem to come together at the end. This book screams sequel and I for one cannot wait!
In a new series from Allison Brennan, Margo Angelhart is a Phoenix PI tracking a rich tech guy whose wife thinks is cheating. Not her favorite type of case, but it pays the bills. When her case intertwines with a case her family's PI agency is working on, an agency she helped planned then shunned after a falling out with her mom, they work together to get to the bottom of presumed corporate espionage. Also in the mix, Margo helps an abused wife of a state trooper and their kids disappear with the assistance of her priest Uncle Rafe. I'm a longtime Brennan fan and will definitely add the Angelhart series to my reading list!
Another win for Allison Brennan as she begins a new series. Margo Angelhart is a great character and the storyline is one that keeps you turning the pages way later than you should. Definitely recommend
You'll Never Find Me features Margo as the protagonist and her family as the back up band.
Margot and her sibling are both investigating crimes that intersect - one a missing spouse and the other corporate espionage.
The book is told in chronological fashion, a feature I enjoy in a book.
It is an interesting read - not as full of sharp plot twists as I enjoy but a good book nonetheless
The very best word I can use to describe this book is interesting. Following that this book is also about family and what to do when something as dear as family falls apart. Finally, and I will explain each thought a little more shortly, this book sets the stage for more stories to come. There are a lot of good strong characters in this story, and I can absolutely see the author delving more into each one as additional stories unfold. Besides, I think the author set the stage for an overarching mystery that needs solved to put the family fully back together.
Let’s go back for a minute before we talk about this book. My first foray into Allison Brennan’s books was the No Evil trilogy and this book is nothing like that book until you look beneath the surface. Allison’s earlier works seemed a little grittier and a little more action packed. This book may not have the action of previous books, instead it is a puzzle with too many pieces, and they might not all go together. We have the initial tech secret, the thief, the abuser, the schemer, and the family of detectives. Allison does a super job of building characters you can relate to. I know Margo may have been the star, but I found myself liking Jack, Logan, and Lulu the best. Jack is strong and sold, exactly the kind of man who deserves a good story of his own and a second chance. Logan and Lulu spoke to the geek inside me. Margo is complex and as Jack said more like her mother than she chooses to believe. That causes tension which tore the family apart. Jack, in his role as the good guy, offered an olive branch which made me like him even more.
The mystery is complex and there are puzzle pieces that simply don’t fit the whole if the mystery is the puzzle. However, if the puzzle is how to live a good life and be a good person and a good detective, then the puzzle pieces to fit to make Margo a complex and multi layered character. One puzzle piece I am still not sure what to do with is Rick. Does he fit or better question, should he? Back to the mystery for a minute, when taking IT classes, you hear about the “bit bucket” and this mystery is a variation of that. I found that interesting since it tied back to something I heard about years ago.
I have two final random thoughts. I am watching the Rookie right now, so I love the call outs to the training officer and the FTO program. Up until this point, all my comments have been positive so I have to point out the one short coming. I wasn’t thrilled with nearly every chapter being labeled and being about a different character, especially if that character felt unimportant. That shortcoming affected the flow of the story making me unsure of a rating. I would rate it between and 4 and a 5 (maybe 4.35.)
I would recommend this book because as I said above, there a lot of material in this book that would be fodder for more stories. In addition, I think some of these characters deserve more of their story to be told. While waiting for the next book, check out the Seven Deadly Sin series. It was by far my favorite series by Allison, and it was quite a departure from both her previous works and this story. Until the next book, I’ll be waiting for more Angelhart Investigations.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Holy cow! You’ll Never Find Me by Allison Brennan was such a wild and twisty ride and I enjoyed every minute of it! It was fast paced with multiple POVs and all the family drama. I couldn’t put it down!
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, NetGalley, and Allison Brennan for the complimentary ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
A new Allison Brennan book is always exciting, but doubly so when it is the beginning of a new series. This is a fast paced thriller with well developed characters, I especially like Margo, the main character and can't wait to see what other adventures she gets up to. This one hooked me from page one and i didn't stop reading until I got through the various twists the the satisfying ending. Highly recommended
Thanks to NetGalley and MIRA publishing for an advanced reader copy
3.5 stars
Really enjoyed the story and character mix. The crime / suspense story kept me guessing and wasn’t a book where I’d figured out the ‘villain’ early on.
I was intrigued from the start and while the first few pages made me want to keep reading I did feel as though perhaps I had missed a previous book and I found there is novella before this book that at the time of reading had not been released. It took a bit into the book but I did get my answer as to why Margo was estranged from her family.
I like that the author has different characters point of view and has worked well in her other books but I felt there were too many different characters point of view in this book. I’m not sure if the author is setting up the series so each book is a difference main character.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin MIRA for providing an advance copy of this title for review.
So excited that it looks like Allison Brennan is starting a new series. She's one of my favorite recommendations for patrons looking for twisty, well-written thriller that will keep you hooked until the last page, and You'll Never Find Me is no exception. Looking forward to what she writes next!
Marvelously done, Allison Brennan! I am hooked and ready for a series with these characters. An intriguing story that pulled me straight in all the while keeping my interest throughout the book. Could there be a love interest in the future? Can a family be stronger than their challenges? Will the truth that separated her from her family come to light? Though "You'll Never Find Me" could end here, I want more!
I loved that the author did not go overboard with detail nor did she continuously repeat the thoughts of the characters. I am giving it a 5 star. It did what a story is meant to do and I'm giving it credit for that! This will be a great pick to get your hands on when released in June 2024. I definitely recommend it.
Margo Angelhart works alone. She doesn’t have time to deal with the tensions in her family’s PI business. That is until her latest client forces her to become entangled with her family once again. She and her siblings may not always see eye-to-eye but they are a force to be reckoned with then they team up. There are a lot of twists and turns as we try to figure out where Jennifer White is along with other unanswered questions that may or may not tie back to her disappearance. Check out the first of hopefully many in Allison Brennan’s series about Angelhart Investigations, You’ll Never Find Me. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
Another great book by Ms. Brennan, and hopefully a start to another great series!! A family PI business, and the one odd woman our due to a family conflict makes for a great read. Very good character development and a nice, strong female lead. 2 very interesting story lines that do keep you very well hooked.
Thank you to Net Galley and Harlequin publishing for allowing me to read a d review this ARC.
Private investigator Margo Angelhart has been at odds with her family ever since they refused to appeal their father’s conviction for a crime she’s convinced he didn’t commit. She’s left the family firm and struck out in her own. Her newest case finds her tracking a cheating husband while dealing with the uneasy feeling the wife is also keeping secrets. When her latest stakeout reveals not only two unconscious victims but members of her family also staking out the house, it becomes clear that her case intersects their industrial espionage investigation. They will have to find a way to work together again. A neatly plotted mystery, complicated family dynamics, and the unanswered questions surrounding the family patriarch make for a compelling start to Brennan’s new Angelhart Investigations series. Fans of Brennan’s other series as well as readers of Marcia Muller’s Sharon McCone mysteries should enjoy.
While I enjoyed reading this book, there were some mentions in the book that I could not read further into it. But what I did read, it was a good read.
First and foremost thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me the privilege of reading this ARC. I am a thriller girlie to my core. This story was well developed and brought you in right away. This was my first read by this author and I was impressed with the writing style. Very engaging and worth the read.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I enjoyed the family story that held strong through the background and the additional plots. The book is well written and easy to read. The female main character is strong in a reasonable way without being over the top. It felt relatable.
