Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this earc
I’m sad to say, I’m officially done with this series.
When it comes to mysteries, I need at least one of the following these to be there
- good mystery
- good romance
- good writing
When I get at least one, I usually will enjoy the book. Sadly, this one didn’t give me any of the things mentioned above.
Mystery just seems too convenient and the fact they went back to Edinburgh after being there in the last book, felt like a lot of material was recycled.
Romance is honestly non existent. They barely kiss. But at the same time it was very annoying when any time two people got on the same page, they magically fell in love. Like cmon. Not every cop has to date the first cute witness.
Overall, I just wasn’t enjoying reading this book. And there are too many books out there that still need to be read.
This book was hard for me to get into. Something about the style of writing just didn’t click with me. However, others may enjoy this story and the journey to find out who is doing the killing!
I really should not have downloaded this. I know that there's huge fan club for Graham's Krewe series but I've always struggled with it. Thanks to the publisher for the arc. Over to others.
The characters are relatable. The story takes unexpected twists. The Blackbird series seems to be crisis after crisis after crisis and then solved the mystery. It is definitely an enjoyable beach read.
"In the alleys of Edinburgh, someone is killing for profit...
Scotland has a dead body problem. Another one. And in the wake of a similar spate of tribute killings, Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald know they have their work cut out for them. Working alongside a new team of agents, the partners have more questions than answers when the crime scenes yield little evidence. In the style of infamous killers Burke and Hare, it appears victims are being moved to a secondary location, where they're dissected and sold for spare parts.
With the clock ticking on every organ being harvested, the members of Blackbird know the killers must be near at hand, and soon discover that they're also being closed in on. As questions begin to arise about the newest additions to their team, Luke and Carly are running out of time - and people they can trust - to catch the killers before the agents themselves are the next to be put on ice."
I'm so here for the Burke and Hare angle!
Overall, i did enjoy this read. I liked the relationship between Carly and Luke. I did feel like it was a little drawn out and hard for me to read at first. The investigations were well done. I enjoyed the aspect of the Scottish accents. Once you get invested, it’s hard to put down! Would def recommend!
This book was a little slow and a bit confusing with the different main characters and the 3rd person writing. That is more a personal preference for me.
In the full aspect I did enjoy the storyline, I enjoyed the character's dynamics and the twists of the book. This is the second in the series and I did not get to read the first so maybe that would have helped me understand some of the characters.
I loved reading the Scottish accent in the writing! And I very much enjoyed the help of the ghosts. I like the paranormal and this was a fun twist to an FBI/Police Murder investigation.
The couple Luke and Carly were my favorite characters, MacDuff has a special place in that elder/fatherly role for the group.
I hope to be able to read the rest of the series!

another fun read interesting characters weaving a great story that captures your attention from beginning to end
New to this author but I’ve heard so much about her books. So happy I got to try out one of her books. It was good it didn’t have me hooked but I will definitely try out her other books.
Very thrilling, edge of your seat at times kind of read. I didn’t read the first book in this series, but I don’t feel that you have to unless you want a backstory on how the MCs got together maybe. Story was easy to follow. Would recommend if you like thrillers with a little romance.
Paranormal Police Procedural Romantic Suspense set in Scotland in which two FBI agents, who's unit all have"unique abilities", race against the clock to stop the killers mimicking the infamous pair Burke and Hare.
4/5 stars: This is the second entry in Graham's Blackbird Files series, which is a Paranormal Police Procedural Romantic Suspense that takes place in Scotland and features two FBI agents, who are members of the European branch of a special unit whose members all have some kind of psychic abilities, as they investigate the killers who're mimicking the infamous pair Burke and Hare and harvesting their victims organs. With plenty of twists and turns, Graham has crafted a police procedural mystery that's fast-paced yet balances the suspects, clues and red herrings and will leave you on the edge of your seat until the final reveal. I really appreciated how Graham explored the disturbing history of Burke and Hare. And of course Graham's character work is excellent; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining incredibly likable. I very much enjoyed seeing Luke and Carly working together and continuing their relationship. This is very much a police procedural mystery with the romantic relationship in the background (the sex scenes are fade to black). I love the paranormal elements, especially the attention paid to the history of the ghostly characters. Due to the sensitive topics tackled, take care and check out the CWs. While you could read this as a stand-alone, you'll gain so much more by reading the series from the beginning; so be sure to pick up book one, Death Behind Every Door. If you'd like to read more from this “universe”, this is a spin-off of the Blackbird series (Whispers at Dusk, BK 1) and the Krewe of Hunters series (Phantom Evil, BK 1).

This is the second book in a series and it was intense! LovedLuke and Carly’s adventures - I found this more intense and the romance is heating up! This series has everything: romance, mystery and thriller set in a beautiful location. Eagerly anticipating #3!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC from my favorite author.
Another great story line as always! This one did lose a star though because her books have lost the spicy sexy moments they used to have. Also because this book seemed to spend so much time in bars and little else.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Market For Murder through Net Galley from Harlequin trade publishing .
This is the second book in the Blackbird files . This story is outstanding it's intense and twisted . It held my attention from the first page to the very last page . A very Suspenseful and intriguing tale . There is a FBI Specialized unit (The Krewe of Hunters ) .
The members have abilities and they handle strange cases . Carly MacDonald and her partner Luke Kendrick work for the Euro Special Assistance unit of Krewe (Blackbird) they work on crimes abroad . They find themselves in Edinburgh Scotland . Investigating with the Police Scotland and the National Crime Agency . They're investigating brutal murders where the victims have their organs taken . While investigating Carly and the team gets assistance from some spirits that haven't moved beyond . As the investigation continues danger closes in .This story is full of twists and turns , it's absolutely a spectacular suspense . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
In Heather Graham’s Market for Murder, we find ourselves in the second installment of the Scotland contingent of the Krewe of Hunters’ special Blackbird squad’s investigation into the latest copycat of a serial killer from the past. This time, the copycats have replicated the feel of the Burke and Hare murders from the 1800’s in Edinburgh.
This time, however, the local investigators working with FBI Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald don’t know the motivation behind the killings. Like the Burke and Hare murders, the bodies appear missing organs, but the modern day murderers could be selling these organs, merely killing for the sake of killing, or even potentially removing organs for consumption. The other problem was that initially, they had no leads, so everyone is a potential suspect, even their colleagues.
This crazy whodunit will keep you guessing until the last page, and even then, the insanity of it all will keep you reeling for a while after. Heather Graham is truly a master of her craft!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC!!
Exciting and intriguing. The same group as in the first of this series which made it all the more enjoyable. Once again, the good guys won. Now we wait for their next adventure as they are leaving Scotland and heading for Paris.
Burke and Hare!!
Body snatchers.
A great story full of history and mayhem on every page. Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald are a dynamic crime fighting due. Her upbeat energy and his charisma along with a country so rich in fascinating legends and ghost's everywhere. I'm a fan of this series and love exploring new twists on old stories.
This is the second in the Blackbird Files--a spin off from Graham's Krewe of Hunters series. We get to travel to Scotland for this one and get to travel through history to figure out the current mystery. Our main characters are back from Death Behind Every Door so we get to catch up with them.
When our team gets to Scotland, they find victims who are being murdered, gruesomely. There's lots of action and twists. You won't want to put this down.
Love this series as much as the original Krewe series. Highly recommend! Bring on the next entry!
This book was AMAZING!! The storyline was interesting, the mystery was well done!! I love the new BlackBird Krewe, I look forward to the next book in this new spinoff of Mrs. Graham’s Krewe Of Hunters series!! I highly recommend this series to everyone!!
This was different than my usual read. I liked how fast paced this read was. It was action on the first page and it drew me in. It reminded me of a crime show. Down to the communication and discussing history of crimes. It was a bit predictable but I was okay with that.
