Thank you to the publishers, Bookouture and NetGalley for the eARC of this novel.
Little Cleo watches as her mother, Darcie is grapped and bundled into a car. Her last words to Cleo are RUN! Cleo runs and runs till she takes refuge in a neighbour's barn. That's where she's found the next morning. DI Gina Harte and her team are called in to find the missing woman. It seems secrets and lies run throughout Darcie's life and those of her inner circle. It's a challenge to determine which one caused Darcie's disappearance.
This is number 15 in the Gina Harte series. I wasn't familiar with the previous books and am happy to say I didn't need to have read them in order to follow the story. It's an excellent book, full of twists and turns, and an ending I didn't see coming. I'll definitely be looking up others in the series. 4 out of 5 stars.
Her Last Goodbye, book 15 in the Detective Gina Harte series totally delivers!!
Wow! Carla manages to yet again serve up a mystery full of potential suspects!
From the opening epilogue, you will be wondering what really happened all those years ago on the lake, that would spark the events occurring 20yrs later. You won’t be expecting the secret that adds a final twist in the story.
On the great cast of characters, they are all back, including Jacob who is just returning to work as this case starts. After putting herself in great danger in book 14, Gina finds herself battling with an overprotective Briggs.
Absolutely amazing! I was so invested and kept guessing throughout. Its one of those books that is feels so vivid that your hair stands on end as you read it. The characters are well written, everyone has secrets and the twists in this book are sheer works of genius. Loved it

Carla Kovach never fails to write a superb installment in the Gina Harte series.
The whole time of reading this book I was stumped to figure out how she would link it all back that amazing prologue. Never thought it could be brought round full circle. But she did.
The whole time iw as questioning everyone along with the team and felt I couldn't trust a single person. So many lines of enquiry that just kept you guessing. I did figure this out a tiny little bit. But not to the extent of the reveal.
That's the magic of these books, they constantly keep you guessing and even if you did work it out a little you never figure out the full story.
Another fantastic book, and I will be anticipating meeting up with the team again soon.
Was great to be back into the life of DI Gina Harte and her team . These books just keep getting better and better and this one can be summed up in just one word WOW.
I was invested from the beginning and new that once I had started reading nothing else would get done. This was an edge of the seat suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns and gasp out loud moments
I have said this before and will say it again this series of books needs to be made into a tv series. Already looking forward to book 16.
Another belter of a case for Gina Harte and her team… and another fabulously written book from Carla Kovach!
I love seeing the next book come out in this series as I know it’s going to be a book that I’m instantly hooked on, and one that I can’t stop thinking about from the minute I pick it up to the moment I finish it.
Always hard to review books that are this far into a well established series, with such solid characters, as I feel I’ve already covered everything in my previous reviews so I’m just going to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved being back amongst the team!!
Brilliant! Amazing! Fabulous!
I can’t fathom how Carla Kovach manages to repeatedly hit us with another fabulous thriller that not only gets us addicted to it straight off the bat, where we are constantly thinking about it but yet again leaves us gobsmacked with those sneaky deceiving twists!
She certainly caught me out on this one!
As always the prologue throws us into a brilliant mystery, that you are left wondering what is happening. I quickly threw myself into the present time and emerged myself back into Gina Harte’s team.
Gina is on top form as are her detectives as they desperately try to figure out which character she needs to focus on to find the kidnapper!
A fabulously written novel that’s full of secrets, twists and my favourite, an unreliable narrator! As always and can’t wait for the next one.
Detective Gina Harte is very good at her job. While still struggling from the death of a colleague and a difficult on-again-off-again relationship with her boss, Gina is called to a B & B where a lost little girl has shown up. The girl tells them that her mother was taken by a man in a mask, but she ran away as her mom told her to do. At the scene, they find a human finger that does not belong to the victim. Gina and her team begin searching for the kidnapped mom by tracking her last movements and interviewing her friends. When another woman is found nearly dead and without a finger, it is clear that she has been abused. Unfortunately, they don't know her name, and she is put in a coma. When more women disappear, and more fingers are found, Gina struggles to find connections between the victims and has a few suspects. It's an exciting chase with a surprise ending. I can't wait for the next Harte book!
This is book #15 of the Gina Harte series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. We find Gina and her team working on the case of a missing young mother, whose daughter is found hiding in a barn after seeing her mother kidnapped. The case doesn't leave Gina much to work with though and her team find themselves hitting dead end after dead end.
I really enjoyed this book and was hooked from the very beginning. I love Gina Harte's character and have followed her storyline throughout the series. Gina is a strong character who has been through a lot over the course of the series and if you're a woman of a certain age (like myself!) you can certainly relate to some of the things she has been through! The storyline is fast paced and is cleverly written with lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. The identity of the kidnapper is kept well under wraps and I have to say I didn't work it out until we got to the big reveal!
This is a story with lots of suspense and tension, and filled with secrets and lies. I really enjoyed meeting back up with Gina and her team and once started I couldn't put it down! Would recommend!
A new Gina Harte will always make its way do the top of my shelf - even if k am already reading something else!
Having been an avid fan since book number 1, I always fly through them.
A missing mum, a severed finger, several red herrings and Harte being her usual self, I couldn’t work out who was taking the women or why, but it all came full circle at the end.
I just want her and Biggs to just get it on proper! Not that he deserves her!!
I loved it! I hope book 16 isn’t too far away!
Well this was a real head buster of a book, there was a choice of culprits but I just did not see this brilliant ending coming! The main characters were strong and I like Detective Gina Harte. We were taken on some wild and murderous routes where the rest of the characters kept us guessing until the end.
This is the first book of Carla Kovach and Detective Gina Harte's that I have read and it can be read as a standalone book. I shall defintely look out for some more of the books in the series. The author does a fine job of keeping our interest held throughout the book and keeps us well entertained.
Gina is back and what a brilliant read, fast paced which kept me involved in the storyline from the beginning until the great ending.
All the characters were well described and everything was brought together for a satisfactory conclusion.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I can thoroughly recommend and I look forward as always to book 16.
This is book 15 of the DI Gina Harte series and it's ideas are as fresh as those of book one. Gina and her team always manage to solve the case despite numerous red herrings along the way. In Her Last Goodbye I managed to guess one of the murderers quite early on but the twist at the end had me totally surprised even as an avid fan of Carla's books. Already looking forward to Gina's next outing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.
Another brilliant Gina Harte book where the team race against time to find a terrifying kidnapper. This one kept me guessing and turning the pages until the shocking conclusion. Brilliant!
Book 15 in the Gina Harte series and still as fresh as book 1. The plotting, as usual, is excellent and it hooks you in from the start with it's fast pacing. The characters work well together in this complex tale and I never guessed who the bad guy was. I was invested right to the end in this enjoyable read and highly recommend it to lovers of crime fiction genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
What a fantastic book. Detective Gina has her hands full when a little girl is found hiding in a barn clutching a toy saying her mummy told her to run. As she tries to find out what has happened to her mummy more people who know one another go missing. When a severed finger turns up at the scene where the man attacked the little girls mummy which is old so therefore belong to someone else ransom demands they know that things are not looking good.` Great storyline with plenty of action throughout.
I found it hard to put this book down it was that good. Highly recommend this author.
This was an absolute belter of a read and I was so engrossed I read it in one sitting. Darkly terrifying in places this really affects your imagination and you can almost believe you are there in the action. Very clever and well written this is exceptionally good.
My Review:
Loved!!!!! Amazing!!!!! Wow!!!!! Just when I thought this series couldn’t get any better, it totally does. I don’t know how this author writes such fantastic books. I just can’t get enough of her and this series. I would say my favorite part of all of them are the awesome characters. I can’t get over how well they work together. Like a well oiled machine. Plus they are family to each other and that is the greatest part in my opinion. Who can’t use more family in their life. I know I can. Next up is the plot. I always live for the books that have children in the story in some way or another. This one had a little girl who watched her mother get kidnapped. I really felt for this girl and what she was going through. I definitely needed tissues for that. Now let’s talk about that roller coaster of an ending. I couldn’t believe it. It left me in total shock and saying OMG. This book is what my soul needed. I’ve been reading so many good books lately but I needed a book with a great mystery attached to it that needed to be solved and fast. This book brought that. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I already know I will love that one too.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
