I'm not entirely sure what I've just read? I spent most of the time confused and unsure if I was actually reading a book or just a lazy draft of one. The characters had absolutely no depth (despite the mention of "themes of grief" I did not feel like any of these characters was particularly sad about the fact Natasha died), the story felt completely rushed and clunky (little to no development with the characters and the relationships yet extensive paragraphs about things that didn't matter at all), and an obvious lack of romance that only fixes itself on the last 30 pages of the book.
Needless to say I did not like this book and I don't recommend it.
The Baby Plan is a short story that leaves you smiling. The first chapters didn't really charm me, but I enjoyed how the story unfolded. I liked the author's writing style and would definitely read more of her works.
The Baby Plan was an excellently written romantic comedy. Samson; a Thor-like architect by day, surfer/cook/everything else under the sun by night finds out he’s a father. The only issue? The babies mother passes away and the baby is left in the custody of an aunt who also has just found out she’s an aunt. Attempting to please the other person and the baby of course; they find themselves living in the same house attempting to raise this darling little girl. We all know what happens when forced proximity comes into play. This was a great book, going to give it 3.5/5 (rounded to 4 for Goodreads) stars simply because it is a little short and the background of the characters doesn’t come into play until very late in the story. Personally, I think this would make a great movie or novella.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own
I'm not sure how I feel about The Baby Plan. The story drew my attention and kept me entertained, but it feels like bug chunks we're missing. There was something off about the writing I can't put my finger on
In any case, I read it in one sitting and give it a 4

Short and sweet, THE BABY PLAN has everything you want and nothing you don’t. This was a good, mindless, clean romance story that provided just the right amount of the feel goods ◡̈
in all seriousness, i really tried with this one but it just wasn't for me. the cover of the book really drew me in and i liked the synopsis and thought it was interesting. but, i'm afraid the story didn't impress me as much as the description nor the cover. i'm willing to give the author another shot because i thought her writing was good.
A lightweight, feel good romance, perfect for a relaxing day of reading,
I was immediately drawn to the book by the well designed cover as well as the title. The summary then drew me in.
Sophie's world is turned upside down by the death of her estranged sister and the sudden discovery that she has a baby niece, Alana. Without any prior experience of babies, Sophie has to learn how to care for her only living relative with only the internet for help. Enter Samson, claiming to be Alana's father. He too has only just leant of her existence, but he wants a part in Alana's life. Throw in the fact that Samson has a lovely house in Brighton, with spare rooms, a garden and park near by and the stage is set for the developing relationship between Sophie, Alana and Samson.
Hooked from the start, and keen to see how the story would unfold, I was willing to enter the world of fiction where problems seemed to melt away remarkably quickly and barriers were easily broken down, I was not disappointed with the ending although I was surprised by Alana's grasp of instructions!
This is not a book I would necessarily read again, but I will be searching out more of Emma Bennet's books.
The Baby Plan by Emma Bennet is an enchanting and heartwarming romantic comedy that will leave readers smiling from ear to ear. Bennet's writing is both heartwarming and humorous, with characters that are endearing and relatable. The plot is engaging, filled with tender moments, laugh-out-loud scenes, and plenty of surprises along the way. Overall, The Baby Plan is a delightful summer read that is perfect for fans of feel-good romantic comedies. With its uplifting storyline and lovable characters, this book is sure to leave readers feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
