Her Pretty Lies starts with Kendall Good having the worst day of her life, it starts with her finding out her fellowship funding will no longer be available, and she has no way of paying for school and it ends with her catching her longtime boyfriend cheating on her with his ex.
This book was a fast and short read. I enjoyed most of the book and kept wanting to find out what was gonna happen. I found that this book contained a lot of drama, secrets and lies. Most characters, if not all were hiding things from each other and lying to one another.
I did find the ending a bit rushed and did not love the final reveal, which made me give the book 3.5 stars. Although, I am rounding it to 4 stars, as there is no half stars here.
This was my second read by Angela Henry and I enjoyed it a lot, I will definitely keep checking this authors books.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC, the above review is made of my own thoughts.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #StormPublishing for the book #HerPrettyLies by #AngelaHenry. Kendall fells like her world is turned upside down. She loses a fellowship, her boyfriend and is now homeless with no job. Now she is getting threatening messages and her father is out of prison after 12 years. This book has murder, suspense and danger and many, many twists with a surprising ending. What does she and Mack, a rich influencer, have in common?
The Cover is definitely the reason i asked for this but glad i did!
When i started reading i thought for sure that i new what was going on and i had it figured out nope something threw a wrench in this read. The Character build was great and the plot was brilliantly written. The revenge in the story was epic and I would recommend the author and the writing. Was fantastic!
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
The second Angela Henry book I have read this year and another psychological thriller that is full of twists and turns. Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.
This was an entertaining, kind of ridiculous thriller. The twists kept me on my toes but didn't really make much sense. I found the first part a little confusing and it took me a bit to get into it.
It was a fun read when I did though. I'd recommend it for when you're in the mood for a breezy soap opera-ish thrill ride with an ending that may or may not be setting up a sequel. I may or may not be there if it is.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.
This starts off as a slow burn and the last 15% of the book is so action packed with lots of twists. While this story seemed very far fetched, I did enjoy it. If you like a story with a lot of unreliable characters, you may like this one. I couldn’t put trust into a single one. At first I feel like all of the characters were a bit much, but it evened out over time. I feel like there was so much more to this story than what you think you’ll read based on the book synopsis.
This book could easily have been named Liar, Liar Pants on Fire. The web of lies from almost every character in this book was so thick that you could not cut it with a sharp instrument. The lies just kept piling up. I was beginning to wonder who was lying and who was telling the truth,
Kendall Good has had a bad day. Her life has went from a bed of roses to being destitute. When she is approached by a woman who has an answer to cure all of the bad things in her life, she is a little timid at first, but then she jumps in with both feet. Oh boy is she going to regret this decision. Someone knows her secret and now they are playing her like a puppet. The perfect crime has just been committed, or has it?
It was a little slow burn to get where we needed to go, but once we got there the engines were racing to the finish line. The explosive twists just kept kept coming, I would think that this is the end, and another explosion would occur. I am still sitting here stunned and dumbfounded. This was a great psychological thriller which will play with your mind and all of your senses as you try to fight your way through the web of deceit.
Thank you to Storm Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
this book has so many twists and turns! it will definitely keep you on your toes and questioning everything. the beginning was a little confusing because there are different starting points and characters, but once you get past that point, it gets so much easier to follow. the book also gives a hint of frieda mcfadden stories!
I really enjoyed this book! It kept me wanting to pick it up and see what would happen!
It Starts With Kendall, in an act of desperation, making some questionable choices!
From there everything goes off the rails, and everythin she thinks she knows of her own life spirals out of control!
Tons of twists and turns, I kept changing my mind of who I thought were good or bad.
Several surprising reveals throughout!
A great suspenseful story!
Kendall’s story starts with her getting screwed out of a fellowship and it really all falls apart from there. It’s an interesting thriller with many twists and turns that kept me engaged and wanting more. The characters were all well written and had depth, the plot gets a little lost in the middle but promptly picks back up and ties up nicely. I didn’t see the end coming and even after everything is “resolved” the author has a few more left hooks to hit you with that left me gasping until the last page.
Jam packed with thrills and twists, there is never a dull moment. A fast paced psychological thriller with a hint of brooding romance!
The story begins by following 24 year old psych student Kendall Good. If anyone is having a bad week, it may be hard to top Kendall’s with the hand she’s recently been dealt. Only mere days ago she had everything, the man she hoped to marry, a new apartment and a prestigious fellowship for graduate school. When Kendall’s life is turned upside down, her past still looming into the present, and not knowing who to trust she’s faced with making a few decisions that could disrupt her journey even further.
Where to start, what a whirlwind! If there’s one way to describe this book, it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Kendall is thrown into the deep end, not knowing who to turn too, who to trust even, add a mysterious handsome man to the mix and things become a lot more complicated.
We follow flashbacks from younger Kendall’s diary as clues to what the truth of her past really is and how does this connect to what’s happening in the present. The rollercoaster doesn’t end there, each character plays a role whether that’s a connection from the past, the web is spun perfectly and full of delicious secrets. Henry leaves the reader guessing how does each piece of the puzzle fit.
Henry keeps the readers guessing, deceiving them time and time again leaving only a few breadcrumbs. The juicy twists and turns will leave you filled with curiosity, unable to put down the book to reveal the truth and characters you’d never expect…
Thank you to storm publishing via NetGalley for my advanced copy.
Her Pretty Lies was a novel that truly intrigued me based on the premise and other reviews. I did find it to be slow in the beginning and hard to get into but I stuck to it. All the twists and turns do come at the end and I felt that that was very overwhelming. I like when twists are spaced out.
I cannot even express how this book had me captivated for an entire day. I was like cleaning my chicken coop and looking at phone reading this book. I was even at working risking my job for this one. OMG the ending too!
I loved everything about this!
Synopsis - Kendall Good seems to be on the verge of breaking down. She lost a prestigious scholarship that will enable her to continue with her graduate studies, her boyfriend cheated on her and now she was homeless and literally broke. When a student and a famous influencer offers Kendall Good a job that would actually help Kendall with her lifestyle, Kendall accepts the job. However, the particular student was found dead and Kendall realizes that student has been impersonating the influencer. Now Kendall was in a middle of drama and deceit.
Good points- I actually like the plot. The plot was interesting and intriguing. You have a vulnerable and unreliable character named Kendall Good which is a suitable type of character in a psychological thriller. The prologue was really good as it will gave the reader a promising start of the story. This book is also binge worthy, and if you are someone who wants to read a book in a short span of time, then this book is one of those--it was quick to read. The writing of the story was actually great.
Bad points-- Whilst I liked the plot, I was confused with too much of main characters in the story. And as such, I have to reread a page to see who is who. Although I liked the plot, I liked the initial plot where Kendall finds herself unemployed, then gets a job offer and then finds herself entangled in a murder investigation. There were too many loose plot holes, some of them were unnecessary part of the story and it sometimes I felt like dragged on and on.
Overall verdict - It wasn't a bad thriller--it was more an OK thriller. I have never read this author's books before but I actually liked her writing and so I might try out her other stories. I give this book an overall rating of 3.5 stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Thank you Storm Publishing and Angela Henry for this read.
I thought the book started so strong and I binged this book in 2 sittings. It was fast paced, mysterious and had some great twists along the way.
Some of the dialogue I felt a little forced / over the top.
This book is perfect as a popcorn thriller for lovers that want a fast paced read that they won't be able to help themselves but the binge in 1 or 2 sittings!

Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the early access in exchange of an honest review.
The story begins with our main character Kendall whos literally having the worst day of her life. She catches her boyfriend cheating on her and her fellowship is withdrawn. She’s out on the street and all her plans has been crushed.
Somehow she’s involved in a murder and she’s the main suspect. What happened and how?
This is a book full of twists and turns. When you think you have it all figured out Henry twists the story again and it’s just one wild ride! It was fast paced and a page turner.
The story came together nicely and will have you on the edge of your seat.
If you like a good thriller pick this up!

After loving The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry, I was ecstatic to read this one! The premise had promise and the plot was interesting, but overall this one fell flat for me. There were some good twists, but quite a bit of it was predictable. There were so many different elements going on, it was hard to keep track of at times. The writing wasn’t very polished and things felt scattered. There wasn’t much depth to the characters and I felt no emotional connection to any of them. I found the ending unsatisfying and lackluster. This was honestly a little disappointing to me.
This book is full of unexpected twists and turns! Some catch you off guard, while others are more predictable. I found myself losing interest around the halfway point, as Kendall faces one setback after another and it gets a bit predictable, with her past haunting her at every turn. Despite the deception and leaving Kendall feeling betrayed by those closest to her, the book's ending completely rebooted it all back up for me! The final twists and turns were CRA-ZY and they added an exciting and satisfactory end to the story. When you just close the book after finishing it and go "Aaaah".
Great read :) Removed one star for the middle part.
TWISTY Thriller!
This book starts off with learning Kendall learning she is losing her grad school funding and it was all too relatable being in grad school myself! She then has to figure out a plan on how she will survive the semester without having to ask for funding from her mom and she makes some questionable choices.... I was unsure how much I was going to like Kendall as a character but I quickly felt myself starting to root for her!
This is a solid 4 star psychological thriller! If you are looking for a thriller that keeps you guessing this is the next one you need to pick up!!
Wow. This was such an easy read and a well written story! The first couple chapters were a little slow but after that I could not put this down!!! Every single twist for every angle! I did not expect the ending either and really threw me for a loop!
Thank you NetGalley for sending me this ARC!
