**ARC REVIEW**

As much as I usually like thrillers, this one just was not it. I guessed most of the plot twists, and everything at the end felt rushed, and almost like it was just trying to finish the book and tie all of the loose ends.
The characters point of views changed from first to third person every chapter or so, and it was a bit confusing, and there were so many side characters that I couldn't keep up. Maybe it's because I've read a lot of romance, but I was hoping for more with Cal, or at least more of his back story, maybe more on the now of the story.

Her Pretty Lies
by Angela Henry
Pub Date: May 03 2024

Her Pretty Lies is a fantastic thriller full of suspense, intrigue with very complex characters, the story keeps you guessing until the very end. The kind of book I love to read! It's a fast read which I'm sure you're sure to enjoy if you're a thriller fan.

Synopsis: The paramedics tell me I’m in shock as they load the body bag into the ambulance.

Only days ago, I had everything. A man I wanted to marry. A prestigious fellowship for graduate school. A perfect new apartment. I’m a psychology student. I should have known she was hiding something from the start… Now I’m shivering under a foil blanket wondering how my life became a nightmare. And when the paramedics check me over, it’s not concern I see on their faces. It’s fear. They think I did this. They think I killed her…

Many thanks to #NetGalley #HerPrettyLies and #StormPublishing for providing me with and E-ARC of this book.

This is a solid 4 star read.
Kendall's plans crumble to pieces when she finds out her money and living situation is not what was to be expected & now she is at ground zero.
Kendall finds herself in a unlikely situation which begs the question, do desperate people really do desperate things?

at about 80% i thought i had it all figured out, at 85% i wanted to DNF because WTF WAS THAT?
BUT i am so glad i stuck it out because the ending was so perfectly wrapped up.
I would definitely recommend this book!

I love a good thriller and this grabbed my attention with the prolog and held me in a tight grip throughout. It's fast-paced and addictive with it's 288 pages. Quick and easy. A book for anyone who likes authors like Freida McFadden.

Because of the way the book started, I found the ending to not be too much of a surprise. There were mutliple twists, and a few did surprise me, but there were a few that didn't. It did seem like all the twists happened all at once, right at the end of the book.

There are also multiple viewpoints and it took me way too long to realize it which caused a little confusion for a while.

Overall, though, I did enjoy the book. I usually base a lot of my reviews on how much I wanted to keep reading and how much I HAVE to know what happened and I found with Her Pretty Lies I did want to keep picking it up when I had a chance and I never got bored.

I enjoyed Her Pretty Lies. It was a quick and easy read for me. I'll probably check out other books by Angela Henry in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read the ARC.

I enjoyed reading this story but I'm so confused? I need some time to process all of this. After all it was still a quick, easy read!

Her Pretty Lies was definitely a slow burn kinda book. So many things kept falling apart for Kendall and it kept me wondering when things would turn around for her. Kendall was a strong female lead with great character progression throughout the book even though life kept knocking her down.

Towards the end of the book, the story line really started getting twisty. You learned that there were secrets hidden everywhere. The more I learned, the more I needed to know. This definitely reminded me a of a Freida thriller the way it was set up.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the trendy language, but maybe I’m just too old.

Kendall loses her funding for her grad program, her boyfriend and her home in a stressful and eventful day. She's jobless, homeless and has no where to turn, until an opportunity fraught with complications comes her way. Under the pressure to make her tuition payments she accepts, having no idea what she's really gotten herself in to.

This is quite a slow burn that I found a little too slow for my taste. It was a little too heavy on twists, especially at the end of the book. I still enjoyed the storyline though.

Buckle Up! This story has more twists and turns than a roller coaster! Is anyone telling the truth? Can any of them be trusted? Kendall Good has had the worst day ever! She loses her scholarship that was going to cover her rent, tuition, basically fund her whole life for the foreseeable future. Oh, her boyfriend of three years? Yeah, she comes home to find banging his ex in their bed! But help comes in an unexpected form from Mackenzie Burk, famous influencer. But Mac has secrets of her own...
This was a fast and enjoyable read but, it was a lot to keep up with. At times told in varying points of view, it was sometimes confusing who was speaking. And then keeping up with everyone's secrets and lies? Girl, bye!

The synopsis hooked me but the book itself did not reel me in. I was confused the whole book to what was happening.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this book early.

WHAT A THRILLER!!!!… This one caused me sleepless nights because I couldn't put it down!! Good book!!!!!

Kendall wakes up to what she think is the worst day ever..

Due to circumstances beyond her control she loses the funding to her fellowship and subsequently her home.
Then only to find her boyfriend of 3 years in bed with his EX girlfriend.

Kendall goes to her old workplace to beg for her old job only to be told her position has already been filled , then the solution to all her problems slide into the booth next to her….

Things almost feel to be going too well for Kendall and you know what they say… if thing are too good to true they probably are.

Cue dead body’s and guess who’s the prime suspect.

There were twist and turns in this book and a few times I thought I’d guessed what was happening only to have another curv ball throw our way and it take a whole new direction.

It’s slow paced till about half way then hold onto your pants because all sort of things and people get thrown down!

I enjoyed it . I found it a enjoyable read 🖤

The book started pretty slow to me but was a fast read. It took a while for me to catch on to what was going on since the story was going back and forth between the back story and the what was happening in that moment. At some parts, I had to keep going back to figure out who was talking at that time. It just felt all over the place. About 30-35% into the book, everything picked up and started to get good! Man you can’t trust anyone nowadays. It was so many secrets, you don’t know who was telling the truth. Overall, I liked the plot twists and it all came together in the end, but it wasn’t my favorite read.

This is the first book that I've read by Angela Henry and Wow! I am now a HUGE fan! Loved the character Kendall Good. Kendall was supposed to be the recipient of the Lena Bennett fellowship, but all her well laid plans were put on hold when the fellowship was put on hold. This left Kendall penniless and homeless. Then the social influencer MacKenzie Burk makes Kendall an offer she cannot refuse. Kendall always believes in the greater good, but her naivety just gets her into more trouble. Like the saying goes, No good deed goes unpunished. Kendall also has this really complicated relationship with her mother who always reminds her how hard she'd worked to get Kendall a good education and that she should be the perfect daughter. Yet there are secrets that her mother is keeping from her.

Then there's super-hot Cal who accepts Kendall with all her quirks and insecurities. Kendall has such a good heart and Cal is the only one who doesn't take advantage of her. Everyone else has secrets and lies and murderous thoughts and Kendall gets tangled up in the middle. I found Kendall to be so entertaining! Despite the chaos around her, she remains true to herself.

I read this book exclusively because the synopsis said “An edge-of-your-seat, gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller for fans of Freida McFadden and Jeneva Rose’s The Perfect Marriage.”

I’m a fan of both of those authors, so this should have been perfect for me.

The writing felt YA but with adult themes and language. I didn’t find any of the characters likable. It just didn’t work for me.

I loved the beginning of this book. I didn’t love Kendall, but I think that was kind of the point. Where I got lost was the really childish dialogue, which felt either unrealistically fake, and/or just plain annoying, which made me lose interest quickly. I think overall the twists and plot were awesome, and that a younger adult audience would be ideal readers for this one!
