Summary:
Paul isn’t the best at reading people. What he is good at is magic, sort of. So he’s decided to go above and beyond in getting romantic advice - by summoning the Great Duke of Hell.
Naturally, this sets off a series of events that nobody, especially Paul, could have predicted. It turns out that almost everyone in his life has a secret to hide, and he is about to kick them all up to the surface.
Review:
Let me start by saying that pretty much none of Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell went the way I expected, and I love that. This series is so quirky and so much fun; I’m lucky to have had the chance to read it.
Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell Vol. 1 is an interesting introduction to the world. It has that strong webcomic vibe (where it knows it has more time to introduce readers). That said, things quickly take a turn once the foundation is there. None of the characters act as expected—or really are who they say they are if you want to get right down to it. I’m hooked.
I do wish the artwork was more like the cover, as that was part of what drew me in. The artwork for this series is a bit rougher, but I didn’t hate it. This was just one of those times when I really wanted the art I was promised, you know?
Long story short, this series was worth checking out. If you’re curious, it might be worth hopping over to Webtoon to peek!

Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell follows teenage Paul who summons Astaroth, the Great Duke of Hell, to help him get a date with his dream girl. I did not like this sadly. I thought the artwork at times was drawn very weird and it took me out of the story too much. I also thought the plot at its core was very weak and a bit boring. I was expecting it to be lighthearted fun but it was almost like there was too much of a focus on comedic timing rather than building the story or characters. Overall, it was not terrible just did not work for me.
This has to be one of the funniest things I have ever read. So many pages are pure memeability. This is pure art. The writing and the artwork come together brilliantly to deliver pure comedy. There’s a gag to enjoy on almost every page. This was such a delight to read.
What brings this story to life is the art work. It’s so well drawn and give so much emotion to the characters. Reactions are overreactions and they really sell the comedy of the story.
Everything from the concept to how grand Astaroth is compared to the simplistic tasks being asked of him come together for the sake of making the reader laugh. I loved this Webtoon with my whole heart. It was so uplifting to read something that put a smile on my face so often.
Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell Volume One by unfins was a funny, unserious comic that followed the main character who summons a demon to talk to his crush! The art style was very meme-ish and it made me laugh. The story caught me off guard and then I finished it in a few hours! I couldn't put it down.
I didn't like this book. It took too long getting into the guts of the story. The demon seemed to be having a midlife crisis and I didn't like the main character. The most interesting thing in this story was the sister's plot but they quickly dropped it so at that point I was over it. I could not finish this.
I throughly enjoyed reading this! I found myself laughing a lot. The storyline was unique and held my attention the whole way through. I also really loved the art style! I definitely plan to continue reading this series!

~2.5~
I wasn't sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. Though there were some laugh-out-loud moments, and the illustrations were quite good, I felt lost and sometimes even thought "What I am reading?". I expected more...more? More actual moments of love advice? More silly moments between the main character, Paul, and the Great Duke of Hell? I honestly don't know. It felt like there was something missing. Some pieces of the puzzle just weren't fitting into the story, and others were left out.
Thank you anyway for the opportunity to read this, I am sort of interested in seeing what Volume Two could bring, especially with the way the first one ended.

— Why I was Attracted to this book :
The Tittle sounded like a good time
— What did you like about this book:
It toke me a moment to understand what was goin on, but it Kinda reminds me on one of the robot chicken skits that they use to show on adult swim
— What you didn’t:
The Art Style is not my cup of tea
— Would you recommend:
No, because I’m not sure who I would recommend it too plus it’s not a book I think I would remember of the top of my head in the future
— Would you read this author again:
No
— Would you continue this series:
No I don’t think I will
This book was so funny! I loved the dark humor and it had me laughing out loud. I would absolutely recommend it and can't wait for the series to continue.
Paul summons a demon, the title mentioned Great Duke of Hell, and instead of picking something like taking over the world or any evil scheme, he wants help getting a date lol
This was hilarious! It was so unserious, it was fantastic. The fish bartender/revenge mastermind (it makes sense when you read it I promise) was my favorite character in this.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the chance to read this! All opinions are my own :)
I was already familiar with this WEBTOON title and it was a pleasant surprise to find out that it's going to be released in physical form: uncompromising and totally crazy fun that made me laugh out loud! I recommend it to anyone who wants a quick and funny read.
It's a webtoon that at first heavily leans on meme humor. The plot zips along with a great pace and introduces a lot of new characters. It doesn't do much with the form, but it's more cleveer than funny.
What the heck did I just read? A boy, because that’s all I can think of him as, summons the great Duke of Hell to help him get the girl of his dreams that works at a restaurant. He makes friends with another guy that seems scared of everything and tells the great Duke of Hell he can go back to hell. His sister goes missing because she realizes there’s a demon in the house and I’m going to must kill him. And something is off with the girl who works at the café. This is just book one. I’m not sure if I want to stay or not. I finished it to the end, and it did get interesting when the great Duke of hell put on his human form. But I’m not sure it’s interesting enough to pick up the next book. The illustrations are OK, but I do find that some of it feels like it’s only half done.
This is a book that does well with humor and keeps the reader engaged. It's a fun and interesting read that pushes you to love almost every character you come across. I had already read the WEBTOON so seeing that this was becoming a novel was really exciting. It was definitely good, but nothing new or original. Pick it up if it's your cup of tea, or don't you won't miss too much from life, but it does add a bit of fun.
Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell, Vol. 1 by unfins is a humorous paranormal romance graphic novel with horror elements.
A teen summons a Great Duke of Hell for a contract to help him get a date with a girl who works at a local cafe. Chaos ensues.
This was a fun and irreverent read. I ended up laughing out loud several times while I was reading. The art style felt true to the story, especially how kind of scribbly yet intense all of the hellions are.
The story is not told linearly, which was a little confusing to me until I sorted out the timeline. It jumps around a lot to different characters, so if you prefer more streamlined plots this might not be the book for you. The main character is also a bit on the unlikeable side, but he is fairly young and naïve. There are several side characters I quite enjoyed.
If you're looking for a graphic novel with absurdist humor and a dash of horror, pick it up!
Hello Fellow Readers,
This book was a rollercoaster of ridiculousness and I enjoyed every minute. It's been much too long since I've laughed out loud, much less smiled at something I've read, but Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell was hilarious. The title alone should give you a clue as to the wackiness that will ensue throughout this graphic novel. There's just something inherently fun about watching each and every single character misunderstand each other and do the complete opposite of what is expected. There isn't one character who knows what is going on, and it just makes this a perfect quick read for me.
Overall, a fun series I cannot wait to keep reading.
Love Advice From the Great Duke of Hell is equal parts deeply funny and deeply unserious. It's a comical view of what happens when a teenage boy summons a great demon from Hell in order to help him confess to his crush and get her attention.
And, of course, nothing goes well. Nothing at all.
The webtoon is filled with a variety of silly side characters, as well as unrealistic situations of epic proportion, not including mob-like activity, demon cults, and, of course, Demons and their life in Hell. Reading this webtoon is extremely low stakes, high laughs, and perfect for the comical side of Halloween season.
That said, while it is hilarious and enjoyable, sometimes the dialogue relies too heavily on internet meme humor that it draws you out of the silly plotlines entirely. Every few pages showcases another internet meme or in-joke. The story itself has great potential that feels downtrodden by the need to insert as many memes as possible.
Overall, it's fun! It's fun, and silly, and doesn't take itself seriously. I laughed the whole way through volume one!
Thank you netgalley, unfins, and webtoon for the early copy!
The art style reminds me of that all the flashback scenes about the Founder Yimir in AOT, so while it isn't my favorite it also doesn't bother me. It's weird, I find myself liking the characters around the main guy but I don't like the main guy at all. It's also not my kind of humor.
Thanks Netgally for providing me a copy for a review.
Absolutely hilarious! I always enjoy reading WebToon novels but this one I finished in one sitting. I love how the author knew how to incorporate humor in with suspense and tension. The drawing style is unique — funny in some cases but unnerving in others. It’s the perfect balance of darkness and humor.
I look forward to reading the next one in the series!
