Donald Clark’s Artificial Intelligence for Learning is an insightful and comprehensive guide that delves into the transformative potential of AI and generative AI in "real world". I also read an earlier version and this second edition is particularly timely, addressing the rapid advancements in AI technology and its implications for learning environments.

The book is meticulously organized, beginning with an overview of AI and its foundational concepts. Clark then explores the specific applications of AI in learning, such as personalized learning experiences, AI-driven content creation, and the use of chatbots for learner support. Each chapter imparts practical and helpful knowledge.

Clark debunks common myths and misconceptions about AI, providing a balanced view of its capabilities and limitations. He emphasizes the importance of ethical considerations and the need for transparency in AI applications.

Clark’s writing is clear, engaging, and authoritative. His extensive experience in online learning and AI projects is evident throughout the book.

Artificial Intelligence for Learning is an essential read for anyone involved in education, training, or professional development. Clark’s expertise and thoughtful analysis make this book a valuable resource for understanding how AI can enhance learning experiences and outcomes. Whether you’re looking to integrate AI into your learning strategy or simply want to stay informed about the latest developments in the field, this book offers a wealth of knowledge and practical advice.

Well written book but I feel like I didn't appreciate just how solely focused it was on education, it could have done with more backgrounds on origins and pro and cons of the types of AI. For someone who is focused on learning and AI this would be a good book it just didn't meet my needs.

AI is quickly becoming a large part of learning and development departments in large corporations, small businesses, and nonprofits alike. It has taken L&D and learning organizations by storm, and the changes and new arrivals on the scene can be daunting. What is AI equipped to handle fully? What tasks can AI assist learning professionals with? What are some of the current ethical concerns that need consideration? These are all questions that need answers in the year 2024. The practical and strategic advice found in the second edition of Artificial Intelligence for Learning - Using AI and Generative AI to Support Learner Development is valuable. I recommend this book to anyone in the training, education, and professional development fields. It will help them better understand how to truly optimize AI and avoid current pitfalls.
