I love Peter James's writing and the Roy Grace series. I remember reading the books leading up to the ending of this book from Roy's perspective and being so mad at Sandy for all the things she had done. I will say, this book made me feel a small amount of sympathy for Sandy but I still think that everything she did could have been solved if she was honest with Roy.
Very much looking forward to reading One of Us is Dead by Peter James when it releases in October 2024.
Tense, menacing, and gritty!
They Thought I Was Dead is a clever, captivating mystery that takes us back to the beginning and into the life of Sandy Grace, the elusive first wife of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, whose reckless behaviour leaves his world irrevocably turned upside down and hers on a fast road to ruin.
The writing is brisk and tight. The characters are multilayered, vulnerable, and impulsive. And the plot is a sinister tale full of twists, turns, deception, mayhem, lies, secrets, suspicious personalities, revelations, addiction, and murder.
I have to say that die-hard fans of the Roy Grace series will be absolutely thrilled with this latest outing by James. They Thought I Was Dead is an ominous, sophisticated, entertaining tale that finally gives readers the insight and answers they’ve been waiting for.
They Thought I was Dead presents the story of Roy 's wife who disappeared one day and after doing all he could to find her, Roy had Sandy pronounced dead.
His life had to go on.
I have followed the series from the first to the last book and I was eager to hear what really made Sandy disappear.
I was nervous I would not like this book as much as the others but I was so wrong.
Sandy has a fascinating story .
Its as story of decisions made good and bad, secrets, bad choices and determination.
Its the story of motherhood and the story of not letting go of the memory of Roy.
Peter James holds your attention from the first to the last page and writes a compelling story that had me staying up late to finish.
They Thought I was Dead is a book that will stay with the reader for days to come.
Thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan, Macmillan for the privilege of reading and reviewing I Thought I Was Dead.
