This is book two, but each book starts and ends an adventure, and can be read as a standalone. I loved this one. Maybe because of the search for the library and old books.
Because of a difference of opinions, Fish, the pirate kid who never fights (takes a lot of practice, time, and exercise to learn how to evade all types of attacks) finds himself with some friends taking a different path from the Scurvy Mistress crew. But they end up caught by a terrible pirate treasure hunter Countess, who is quite cruel and has a peculiar love for pet rats.
Because Fish is awesome at swimming, she forces him to do a few tasks to find a cursed ship. Now Fish sails with the Countess in the Rat Queen. But his old friends will return.
Legends and classic epic stories hide many truths, and to find out where the ship with emerald eyes is Fish needs some classics like Utopia by Thomas More. This takes him to Venice.
Lots of fun dialogue, humor, action, fast-paced adventure, friendship, and allies. This is the perfect read for those who love a good pirate treasure hunt and sea battles.
Thank you publisher and Netgalley for the e-arc.
