I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would! I did not expect it to have so much spice!
The book begins with Emma and her three best friends, Jade, Sara, and Tessa, having a glass of wine at a bar in Rome. Emma is in Rome for an MBA program and her girls are in town visiting. At this bar, Emma meets a handsome silver fox and decides to do something spontaneous and go home with him. Unfortunately, the night does not end well for Emma. She gets in her head after Santo's sexual approach and rushes out of his apartment. It has been decades since someone has done sexual acts to Emma and she is self-conscious about it.
Her first day of class, Emma is shocked to find out this handsome silver fox from the bar is one of her professors. Emma and Santo both have desires for one another, however they're unsure how to go about it. What is they do decide to pursue eachother? Would this make things awkward?
I loved this book! I loved the idea of both characters being older (40+) and finding that spark again. And the spice was definitely top notch, in a very mature way! A great read, for both younger and older! 4.5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley and Liz Alden for this read!
I would like to thank netgalley and the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The title and cover sold me at first but I really enjoyed this romance with mature main characters. This is my first book by this author and loved the chemistry each character had for each other and had a good amount of spice.I loved some of the real life issues this FMC goes thru (dealing with divorce and body image etc.) definitely will be reading more from this author!

My thoughts while reading:
🚨ALERT SPOILERS AHEAD🚨
His impending move?? Hmmm
Yess a man that loves her curvy boddddy
I know the bar is in the ground but when a love interest loves the main characters body for what it is and isn’t like omg you’re not big you’re not curvy like no curvy is beautiful!!!!
Oh shit she’s just leaving???
Oh and she’s moving toooo omg I wonder if they’re going to be neighbors 👀
Oh my god she fucking pepper sprayed him oh nooooo
Screaming Emma is sick and they took her temp. It’s 39 degrees and I was like H U H but then realized it’s in Celsius bc duh
God I’m so serious the “MC takes care of the other MC when they’re sick” is my favorite trope of all timeeeee
I’ve been devouringgggg this book today I cannot put it down!!
Vincente can fucking kick rocks!!!!
I’m loving Shonda so much and her telling Emma that maybe possibly she has ADHD
Emma is on a journey of self discovery after her divorce because she it’s never too late in life to start over . Her self discovery journey has lead her to join an international MBA program in Rome . And what better way to start off her new Italy adventure than with a one night stand which a smexy silver fox named Santon, but everything seems to come to a halt when Emma meets her new professor and it is none other than Santo . Now the two of them must figure out how to have a professor/student relationship without crossing the boundaries any further .
A fun, quick, spicy read that will transport you to the villas of Italy . Emma + Santo are so cute together . They have already lived so much life that they just enjoyed their time together without there needing to be any crazy big drama . I did feel like the last 20% of the book felt kinda rushed with us not fully getting all the answers about who turned them in, but overall it was a good read .
This is book three in the Aged Like Fine Wine series + it can be read as a complete standalone .
This book was given to me for honest review by Netgalley + the author .
Will I be going back and reading the rest of the books in this series? You bet.
This was such a lovely read. I love Italy. I also get a kick out of the one-night-stand failing trope. I also really enjoy when you stick it to a lousy ex.
I was hooked right from the title and cover. There was no part of me that was disappointed in anything in this book.
She's riddled with insecurities, he's not....
Emma is 42, divorced and riddled with insecurities, especially her body. This is a main theme in this book. She's in Italy trying to get her MBA.
Santo is an older guy, successful but unsuccessful in relationships.
He's confident and sure of himself, the opposite of Emma.
I guess he is into Emma, as he's both her professor out of bed and definitely in his bedroom, he is the instructor. He is teaching her in and out of the bedroom and is down with that power dynamic.
Another captivating installment in one of my beloved series! The chemistry between Emma and Santo was electric, and the sizzling scenes added an irresistible intensity. I’m eagerly anticipating the next book in this enthralling series.
Thank you Liz Alden and NetGalley for this ARC read
This is book three of the Aged like Fine Wine series. It is a sweet and spicy Rom Com. A returning ex, a secret relationship with her professor, this girl has all kinds of things going on. Great characters that you fall in love with. I really liked how the author built up the relationship between the two main characters. I was rooting for their happy ending through the whole book. Detail well plotted storyline that keeps your attention throughout the book. Great holiday read that gets you in the mood for the holidays. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Disfrute la historia. Algo que me gustó es que ambos protagonista están en su cuarentas.
Es un libro ligero, fácil de leer, corto y con hea asegurado.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for and honest review.
Liz Alden does not disappoint. Prosecco with My Professor gives and excellent student x teacher relationship without making you feel weird about it. Alden does a fantastic job of making you really feel for the characters and has you devouring each page. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!
this sounded good but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. it was a little over 200 pages so felt like a novella, I didn’t feel any connection between the characters expect lust and it all felt very underdeveloped and rushed. it was a quick read though, the friendship group were fun and although this is the third book in the series, I haven’t read the others and wasn’t confused or anything so don’t feel like they need to be read in order to read this one.
thank you NetGalley and Liz alden for the arc.
tropes:
-set in Italy

-professor x student
-plus size fmc
-both divorced
-older characters

This is an example of don't judge a book by its cover. One would think this was about a winery in the countryside looking at the cover. Boy was I was wrong!!! In a great way. FMC has gone through a divorce and recent started her MBA program abroad. She tries to do a one-night stand prior to classes starting but that goes wrong due to low self-esteem regarding her body. As you can guess the MMC is the one stand. You watch the struggles of the relationship develop but also the FMC self-esteem continue to grow. This was the first book I read from this author, but I now want to read the rest of the series.
Prosecco with My Professor by Liz Aldan
Rating: 3.5/5
Tropes: Age Gap, Forbidden Love, Opposites Attract, Forced Proximity, student/teacher.
Prosecco with My Professor is book three of the Aged Like Fine Wine by Liz Alden, although it can easily be read as a standalone.
This was an easy read with more mature characters than the usual romances we tend to read these days. The student/teacher relationship was handled well and didn’t leave that usual icky feeling that tends to come with this trope. The side characters were also very well crafted and really managed to bring it all together with a perfect little bow.
My only issue with the book, hence the lower rating, was that I felt like the storyline was a little bit underdeveloped and could have done with a bit more work.

This! Was! Re! Freshing!
Prosecco with my Professor was steamy, with lots of slow burn, will they / won't they, a smidge of angst ("Oh no, it's forbidden... I can't have them..."), but most of all maturity. There were no silly miscommunication tropes, but instead a lot of honesty with wanting someone but having them is risky. I don't get to read a lot of later-in-life books, because let's face it, most protagonists are between the ages of 18 and 30 and the rest of adulthood just fails to exist in literature, so I was particularly excited for this one. Can I relate to the FMC? Honestly, not really. I'm recently married, in my early 30s, no kids, never been to Europe, and have zero college education. But that didn't stop me from loving this!
The chemistry between FMC Emma and MMC Santo was on fire, but not in a passionate and impulsive way. They were deliberate, and sure of their choices. That was new for me to read and I liked it! There were multiple sources of conflict: from the power imbalance of the professor/student dynamic, to the ex-husband trying to re-enter the picture, ,and even Emma's own inner demons (as a mature woman who has had three kids, she's got some body image issues). I've said before in other reviews, I enjoy some struggles in my romance, not everything should be sunshine and roses. This delivered just the right amount of tension without being overly angsty bordering on emo. There was a great balance that felt authentic and plausible, and ultimately made the relationship satisfying to watch.
As for the supporting cast, CMC (Cat Main Character) Zola stole the show a few times, so she deserves an honorable mention. There was a decently large cast, with Emma's family, her group of friends who like to Facetime each other (this sounds cringey in theory, but was actually pretty cute in practice), her classmates, her neighbor, her neighbor's dog, and Santo's family, friends, and colleagues. I don't remember everyone's names (Emma's friends names and two of her kids escape me, in particular) but each character had a distinct enough personality that they brought something to the page even if I don't recall their exact name.
There was, of course, a happily ever after, although the ending did feel a little rushed. Another chapter or two could have helped round out the final conflict and resolution. The epilogue was nice, but not quite enough in my opinion, which holds this back from being a 5 star read. Still, this was my first Liz Alden book and I've got another one sitting on my shelf that I'll have to pick up sooner rather than later!
Prosecco with My Professor could be a movie and I'd watch the shit out of it. Definitely recommend!
Arc review
⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
I loved the premise of this book, older main characters, set in Italy, professor/student. While I did enjoy it, it did fall a little flat for me.
I really loved Santo and Emma. Emma was trying to find herself after a divorce and Santo is the experienced handsome Italian. I really loved their interactions, they were so sweet and their banter was so good. With that said I felt like I needed more, the book was short so I felt like we didn’t get enough of them as a couple.
The girl group was my favorite part of this book. They are so funny and they just love eachother so much!
Thank you netgalley for this arc
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Liz Alden for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Liz truly never misses!!!! This sad another great story by her and I love hearing about the romances of her beloved friendship group!
This was the third instalment and I can’t wait for the next one! It was truly a delight to read!
Zola the cat and Oliver the dog stole the show !!!
This was a super quick, fun read.
What I liked:
- I really enjoyed how mature of a book this was. The characters had realistic physical and emotional flaws, and we get to see a little bit of the inner workings through this journey. I really enjoyed the wide range of body types the author included. The novel was also LGBTQ+ friendly.
- The professor x student trope was actually not creepy, not grooming, and just felt like it was done really well.
- I was actually laughing out loud with the scene with Oliver - this was hysterical.
What I didn't like as much:
- Ahhh, the story just felt like it was under-developed. I wanted so much more emotional depth, and more tension from the characters.
When they finally got together, I wasn't like "YES FINALLY," - I was looking for more of a forbidden love interest, slow burn, high tension feeling.
- The spicy scenes were tasteful and mature - but I wish there was more! I thought there was going to be more based off the description.
- The ending was very rushed, I was hoping for a couple more chapters. The epilogue felt like we jumped big time, but major plot points could have been included to wrap it up better.
I also did not realize this was a part of a series, but I didn't need to read the others to know what was going on and I really love when that happens!!
This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I hadn't realized how much I missed mature-aged main characters, as someone in my 30s it can get a little taxing reading about people in their young twenties. It isn't always relatable.
These women have decided to change their lives by moving to Europe in their 40's which I seriously LOVE the idea of. ROMANTICISE your life!!
I really loved the friendship that developed between our two main characters, also oh my gosh it is so nice for our characters to just solve their issues together, like not ignore them or have miscommunication they don't talk about.
This was such fun from com that was a joy to read, I'm excited to read more by Alden in the future especially the first books in this series.
Cute. Seemed a little long. I didn't quite understand the friend's jealousy, but it made a plot point. And the ex-husband really wasn't much of a factor either. Definitely very hot.
