My love for Nicholas Sparks grows every time I read one of his books. His books transport me right into the setting of the book, every single time. Truly the best!

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC of this book.
It’s a beautiful written story about family, love and second chances. The way that it’s written makes you want to keep reading to know what happens next. It kept me on the verge of tears for the last couple of chapters something that doesn’t usually happen to me.
I would highly recommend it if you are into heartwarming stories without leaving some tragedy and sadness aside.

I found this book hard to start but once I got into it, I wanted to keep going to find out what was going to happen to everyone.
Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents. He had spent many years overseas both working for the forces and charities. When his grandmother was ill, he came home to be with her. Just before she died, she told him where his father and mother had met. With his mother long dead, he decides to see if he can find his father before he goes back overseas. All he has is the town name, Ashboro and a last name
He finds Kaitlyn Cooper a single mother with two children, Casey and Mitch. She is also a doctor who had great compassion for her patients. Tanner is attracted to her and Kaitlyn is interested in him but keeps her distance because she knows he will soon be leaving.
Kaitlyn and her children are friendly with the old man next door. Jasper had had a hard life but he is teaching Mitch to carve animals and Kaitlyn appreciates that. Jasper hears there is a white deer around and wants to make sure that nothing happens to it.
The story is told from the point of view of Tanner, Kaitlyn and Jasper so we get to see how all of them interact with everyone else.
All the characters are well developed and realistic. I enjoyed this story.

A big thank you to NetGalley, Nicholas Sparks, and the publishers for the e-ARC!

Having grown up reading Nicholas Sparks, Counting Miracles was another beautifully crafted story that didn't disappoint. The lives of Jasper, Tanner, and Kaitlyn, along with Kaitlyn’s children, are intricately woven together in ways that are both heartbreaking and deeply moving. I loved the multiple perspectives, and the twist at the end was amazing. Sparks evoked so many emotions throughout the story, with Jasper’s journey especially striking a chord with me. I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy when it's released!

This was another very emotional story that I was drawn into from the very beginning.

I'm not surprised how much I enjoyed it. This wasn't my first book by this author and I already knew that his books are emotional and hard to put down.

The characters were great, as was the story. 🧡

There were several characters and all of them played an important role in the story. Tanner came to Asheboro hoping to learn more about his father, who he didn’t know existed until his grandmother revealed his name before her death. He had a great personality that attracted Kaitlyn from day one. Kaitlyn, a divorced mother of two, was a loving and caring person. She was a doctor and she opened her heart to a strange neighbor, Jasper, who people were afraid of because of his burnt face. Jasper lived alone with his dog Arlo🐕. He carved animals out of wood, which he shared with Mitch, Kaitlyn’s nine-year-old son. The two men became friends. But it all started with Casey, Kaitlyn’s daughter. She hit Tanner’s car in the parking lot and didn’t realize that this was a new beginning for all of them. 🚙

I love Sparks' novels. They are charming, beautiful, filled with pinch of humour and subtle touches. Very character driven. Of course there are villains and dramatic plots. Jasper's story was heartbreaking and no matter the tragedies he experienced in his life, he never stopped believing 💕. When a white deer appeared in the area, which in Celtic mythology symbolizes a messenger from another world, he believed that this extraordinary creature had come just for him.

You know from the beginning how Sparks book will end, and yet it still surprises you. This time I told myself I wouldn’t cry. And I did it again.

A truly remarkable story.
As special thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this amazing book.
This book touches on a bit of everything. It most certainty makes you feel every emotion possible. The characters are incredible.
Follow Tanner on his mission to find family during whats become a soul searching journey. His path crosses with a wonderful woman in a small town after an a cident occurs with him and her daughter.
Kaitlyn is a hard working doctor and single mother.  She helps everyone in her community in ways most wouldn't bother with.
Jasper has an extremely sad past. Now living alone in his cabin in the woods. His life entangled with Kaitlyn and her kids. Especially her son.
Reading this masterpiece of a story unfold was a privilege. Amazing characters, incredible storyline. Everything and more than you expect with a novel by Mr. Sparks.
5 stars. A must read.

Let me preface this review by saying I have read every single one of Nicholas Sparks books and I’ve loved 95% of them. That other 5% I liked a lot. Which, when I think of it, is kind of ridiculous. I don’t like romance novels but Sparks stories are something more and I enjoy them greatly. Hence, I went into this expecting to love this book and I was slightly disappointed. It wasn’t quite what I expected and not one of my favourites of his BUT I still enjoyed it.

As always, Sparks writes beautifully. His characters are well written and complex. The stories are woven together seamlessly. And yet I felt like there was something missing this time. I can’t quite put my finger on what it was. It may have been the religious aspects. I’m not a religious person and I don’t like to feel preached to. Or it may have been that I found the pace slower than I am used to from Sparks. Either way it isn’t something that should keep others from taking their turn with this novel.

If you are a fan of Mr. Sparks books, I believe you’ll want to read this one. If you are new to his books, I would recommend starting with one of the others first!

Thank you to Netgalley and Publishers for this Advanced Reader Copy (ARC).

I had previous experience reading and enjoying Nicholas Sparks books. I really enjoyed The Notebook & Safe Haven. This book, however, missed for me. I felt the romance was very rushed. I also found it to be leaning towards military and religious propaganda. The religious aspects where not inherently bad, but I feel that it should be something noted in the description, especially since the first caveat was the epigraph.

Nicholas Sparks is one of my favourite authors and I got an eARC? Younger (and current) me is screaming over this.

As usual, Sparks weaves a story of complex characters that have a connection in one way or another. Not only do we get to see a budding romance between Kaitlyn and Tanner but we also meet Jasper and his dog, Arlo. There were a few parts in this story that had me FREAKING for a very tragic ending but spoiler: the dog is ok.

The ending was as heart warming as ever and definitely tear worthy.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for this eARC!!

Nicholas Sparks does it again. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to yell at the Characters
If you’re a fan of his or even just romance in general this is a book for you.
Tanner was raised by his grandparents when his mom died in childbirth. On his grandmother’s death bed she gives him the name of his father and the last town where he lived as far as she knows.
But a chance accident with a teenager leads him to more then he bargained for!
A must read but have the Kleenex with you. You might them.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC😃

I enjoyed the story overall but found myself favouring the romantic lead’s perspectives rather than our old man Jasper and the deer. Some more development and focus on the main couple would’ve benefited the story, as well as more focus on finding Tanner’s family.

While Jasper’s perspective was interesting in its own right, I did not really care about the deer or his resisting of the Bible. This book definitely felt like the most Christian of Sparks’ books, which is fine but simultaneously did nothing for me. —also being familiar with the Bible, I would rather pick anyone BUT Job to have my life imitate.

The ending also wrapped a little bit quickly for me, but overall I was satisfied and would recommend if you typically enjoy Sparks’ stories!

Nicholas Sparks delivers again.

We have a man, Tanner, raised by his grandparents, searching for his bio-father with only a name and a town as clues. Add Casey, a feisty teenaged girl, her younger brother Mitch and their mother, Kaitlyn, a divorced doctor. Into the mix we add Jasper, an elderly recluse living alone in a cabin on the edge of a forest with his equally elderly dog, Arlo. Casey and Tanner meet when she crashes into his car in a parking lot necessitating a meet with Kaitlin.

When an extremely rare white deer is spotted in the forest it ignites a great desire in the townsfolk to spot it, photograph it and, unfortunately, attract those who would hunt it as a trophy. Jasper is determined to protect it. We learn more about Jasper, his heartbreaking past and why his face is so badly scarred.

We also learn more of Tanner's history, why he travels the world, his military background and the fact that he has never had the desire to set down his roots. He, Kaitlin and her children have entered his life, thanks to the car crash and this sets the stage for the 'romance' aspect.

Sparks knows his genre well and writes just as well. I'm not a romance novel reader, but his books are a cut above. He sets the hook painlessly, has his characters fully rounded and adds suspense that keeps us reading through the late night hours, I'm one who can usually guess how a story ends, but not this time! This book was an very enjoyable summer read when we can just exhale and take a recess from the world around us. I admit my favourite character is Arlo simply because I am mad for dogs!

This was such a sad book. You knew exactly what was going to happen but it still managed to surprise me. I love the way this story was told and all the characters in it. The love story was beautiful and learning about Jaspers own love story that was filled with such tragedy. Nicholas sparks is one of my favourite authors and this book held up to all his previous books.

In true Nicholas Sparks fashion, the ending had me in tears. I really enjoyed this story as a whole, however I found some parts of the story to be too long and drawn out, specifically the flashbacks. They do provide a lot of insight into the characters, however. I think some of these could have been more succinct to focus on the present day story more deeply.

The main characters, the love story, the relationship and character development were all very well written.

I also love how the author did not include an epilogue flashing to the future. The story ends in present day, which leaves us imagining what the future holds - this was a terrific choice.

firstly, I want to thank NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for this ARC in exchange for an honest review❤️

I was incredibly honoured to have been a chosen one to read Nicholas Spark's new novel. Anyone who knows me, knows I grew up with Nicholas Sparks, from reading all his novels to watching all his movies, I am forever in awe of his work. He’s one of my all time favourite authors. A Walk To Remember is actually my favourite novel (I cannot count how many times I’ve read that book in high school) and plus its my absolute favourite movie! (Fun fact about me) anyway, Counting Miracles was truly beautiful. We have 3 peoples lives who are connected together and they don’t even know it. You’ll have to read to figure that out🤫 we have Jasper, Tanner and Kaitlyn in this story plus Kaitlyns children. Reading about every single one of these characters was beyond beautiful and heartbreaking. Nicholas Sparks has a talent for writing so beautifully that you’re in awe and then he brings in the tears because of course!? He’s just known for that and he’s brilliant.

Jaspers Story broke me. How he lost his entire family was incredible tragic and heartbreaking I’m still thinking about how he described it💔.. I was a lot more interested in him than the romance budding between Tanner and Kaitlyn tbh. Another thing I love about Nicholas’s writing, is that he loves to set his setting in small towns in North Carolina which I always adored. When he describes the setting you’re immediately transported there and can picture and feel that setting and you know it’s beautiful❤️ he writes about each of his characters with his whole heart that you feel their pain and their joy when their explained.. in my eyes Nicholas Sparks can do no wrong with me.

Nicholas Sparks delivers a captivating story in his new book, Counting Miracles. From the first sentence to the last sentence of this book, I was pulled into the lives of the characters. Sparks is a talented writer and I was thrilled to be given an advance copy to give my honest review of this book. I would very highly recommend reading Counting Miracles as your next book to read. I loved this book!!

I simply could not get into this book no matter how much I love Nicholas Sparks. I found it boring quite frankly and couldn't even finish it.

I loved Nicholas Sparks books when I was younger, but I feel like I have grown out of him as an author.

This book was good, not great but good. The character dynamics was good, the romance was blah, not the best. The connections were ok.

I had a hard time moving past the religious component of this book, I don't mind a sprinkle of religion here and there but this felt like too much.

I preferred Jasper's story over Kaitlyn and Tanners, I just couldn't connect with them as a couple. But the ending was good, I felt those emotions in my soul.

Despite my reputation for being critical of book endings, I felt this novel's resolution worked well. It did a great job of tying all the pieces of the storyline together. However, I had a difficult time getting into the first half of the narrative. The pace was quite slow, with unnecessary words, phrases, and details. I believe it would benefit significantly from additional editing.

My sincere thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy and allowing me to share my honest review.

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks is currently set to be published on September 24, 2024.
