I had not read a Jessie Weaver book before I had the opportunity to listen to this book. I realized after starting that this is the second book in the "Like Me Block You" series. I quickly listened to the first book (which was an equally enjoyable list, btw), and then jumped back into Lie Until It's True. There were many references made to the first book, so it was worth getting through that one first.
Lie Until It's True was a fun young adult mystery. I can totally see both books in this series being very relatable and fun for kids to read with all the social media references throughout each. I thought pace was good and their was enough mystery and suspense to keep interest peaked.
I will definitely be recommending this book to the kids I teach!
This is the second book I have read by Jessie Weaver, and it is one I will purchase again. I had really wanted to preview it, so I was excited to have the opportunity as it was a choice I could make for my JLG box and I will definitely keep it in the box. This one was a clever mystery-and I think even better than her first book. It took me a little to get into the book, but not long, and I was immersed in her world. F Weaver delivered an immersive and thrilling experience that left me continuously guessing at the multitude of layers and mysteries within the novel.
The cast that feels real, and relatable to the reader especially I think my students. As a reader who values both a compelling plot and well-developed characters, I found the balance in this book to be perfection. Weaver skillfully weaves multiple crimes into the plot, creating a page-turner that keeps reader wanting to know more. The mystery, the intrigue, and the setting all contribute to an irresistible combination
I think the incorporation of social media into the storyline, adding an extra layer of depth and intrigue. I think this was the portion that ook me a while to get into but I think student readers will probably enjoy it and see it before I did because every detail serves a purpose, and the payoff is undoubtedly worth it. I don’t think I’ve read a YA book that has incorporated Tik Tok in this way, and it’s definitely unique; it reminded me of how some YA books incorporate podcasts.
The audiobook narrator was great, and one I hope to have on our Sora App for students as well as the physical copy.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc preview of this audiobook.
I highly recommend this book, especially audio version. The narrator did an amazing job and this was the easiest audio to listen to. This is one of those YA books that avoid being a cliche YA. Yes, the characters are in high school, yes there is thoughts that I would say is teenage style. However, they do not focus on the typical issues YA can have. There was no smut which is perfect for the age. I found it had a lot of mystery and twists to the point where I questioned where it was going. However, the ending was brilliant and made everything clear. I would say this is perfect for high schoolers who want to read mysteries. It also had amazing character development and every reaction made sense for the character. Hands down my favorite YA book this year.
Full of personable characters and set in a fascinating and slightly creepy location, Lie Until It’s True, takes you on a twisting journey through the history of a gang of friends and unravels how their unique personalities and circumstance drive them to actions they may or may not regret.
Woven into this complex tapestry, two death. Is it the retribution of a ghost or are living mortals to blame? You’ll have to read to find out…
Lie Until It's True is an excellent addition to the YA thriller genre. Fast paced with fully fleshed out characters. The hint of a supernatural story will also appeal to readers. Hand to fans of Karen McManus.
This is an interesting story. Amanda is a strong character, one looking for redemption after having pointed the finger at her sister for a murder. So, when her close friend’s mother is accused of a murder, Amanda wants to help him figure out what really happened. Yet upon arriving in Colorado, she is wrapped up in a mystery that is even bigger than she expected. This is a fast-paced book that integrates the past and present beautifully to help the reader figure out what really happened that fateful night. While this is the second book in the series you do not have to read the books in order to enjoy this book. I think teens will love the intrigue and the twists that accompany this tale.
Thank you to Disney Publishing and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.
I listened to the audio format of the book as I followed along with a print copy of the ARC - and I am super glad I had the ARC. The audio of the book is well done, I enjoyed the narrator and the pacing was good. The issue with the audio is that the book is filled with text threads and social media posts and those are just easier to understand (at least in my opinion) when you can see them and not just hear them.
The mystery is on point and there are definitely several twists along the way. I am admittedly not a huge fan of the main character Amanda, but I don't think you are really meant to be. She is an unreliable narrator, which is something that always irks me a bit.
Overall, I enjoyed the read and will be adding it to my school library.

I liked this book more than Jessie's first book. The characters in this book are relatable. The pace moves quickly and keeps the reader guessing until the end. Another fantastic book. I can’t wait to read more!
This book kept my attention. It did not turn out the way i expected. I really liked the characters and the character development. A good listen!
What do you get when you cross a haunted hotel, connected with a couple of deaths, with a group of teenagers and a reality show? The Summit has been the gathering place for Amanda, Vince, Cole, and Mallory ever since they were 5 years old. Now that they’re 16 and have had their own issues to contend with (a mom in jail for murder, a sister being proven innocent from murder, and striving to be rich and famous) they reconvene for a final time for one last hurrah. Unfortunately, yet another death occurs at the Summit and instead of a carefree summer together, the group is thrown into a murder investigation, which they need to solve before they are accused themselves. Multiple suspects, multiple murders, multiple lies. This story will keep you guessing until the very end. Highly recommend for readers who enjoyed One Of Us Is Lying and Truly Devious. One note: the audio version made it hard to keep track of present day/past day.
I stayed up later than any teacher should on a weeknight to finish listening to this one! I know it’s a regularly used approach in writing reviews to mention similar texts (especially popular titles), and I actually find that strategy a little annoying. However, I’m breaking my own rule to say that I feel certain that fans of _We Were Liars_ will also love this one. I had both the audio book and the text, and I went back and forth to read the two. The narrator did such a good job that I found myself listening more than reading! I looked forward to her spin on the tale. This will be a great addition to my library.
This was a fun read. While some of the twists and turns were predictable, I am a crime junkie and still enjoyed the tale of it all. The narrator was really good at bringing you into the story. All in all, I give it one and a quarter thumbs up!
Lie Until It’s True was a fun little mystery with flawed friendships and some social media content thrown in. I will read Jessie Weaver again I liked the narrator.
Thanks to NetGalley and Disney Audiobooks | Melissa de la Cruz Studio for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Amanda Pruitt turned in her sister for murder and then anonymously posted about the trial on TikTok. After her sister is found innocent, Amanda spends the summer with her aunt in Colorado where she reunites with her three childhood friends, one of whose mother is accused of killing a local billionaire. Amanda and her friends try to uncover the truth.
Quick audiobook that I listened to in a day.

Three years ago sixteen year old Amanda Pruitt accused her sister Cora of murdering a social media influencer, Amanda found Cora’s diary that indicated incriminating evidence; so she turned it over to the police. However, after she turned in the diary she continued to investigate and opened a true crime TikTok account using @UntilProven. True Crime fans followed for three years and now Cora has been found not guilty.
While the trail was going on Amanda no longer visited Colorado a place where she and her friends - Cole, Mallory and Vince spent so many hours. Amanda contacts them and tells them that they can get together as this summer she will be visiting her Aunt Amy at the Summit Hotel. Mallory’s parents own the Summit House and Cole’s mother is the manager.
Amanda is surprised when she finds out that the famous artist, Royden Das, was murdered at the hotel – what’s worst is her friend Vince’s mother who runs the local art gallery is in jail for his murder.
Cole believes that Das was murdered by a ghost (as we all know most hotels are haunted!)
Author, Jessie Weaver tells us that this is the companion novel to the book "Live Your Best Lie" - not a sequel. Both books are self-contained mysteries and can be read individually.
Although I am not the target audience, I did enjoy this, The Narrator is GREAT. Her performance of ALL characters is super. My only negative about this is the language. It isn’t THAT bad and I know middle schoolers use nasty language. I just don’t like that it appears normal and necessary – however IMO it is being lazy as there are so many good adjectives that could be used-lol!.
Want to thank NetGalley and Disney Audiobooks/Melissa de le Cruz Studios for granting me this early audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 7, 2024.
This was super fun! The narrator was wonderful and did a great job differentiating the characters. The story itself was great and I loved the alternate timelines. It was suspenseful and engaging.
