A gripping page turner for sure! Delores is left with a dead husband who committed suicide, and moves in with her son Leo, and his wife, Madelyn. Madelyn can't stand Delores, and having her move in with them is not easy. Then comes a mysterious life insurance agent who believes that it was not a suicide, makes Madelyn start to question what the motives of her mother in law really are. This was a great quick read and left me hanging until the very end. I did not guess that twist and had so many other theories in my head. The character of Delores was written so well it made it impossible to like her, and I love being able to feel that way about characters in books. I haven't read any other books by this author but I for sure am going to add them to my shelf now!
James Caine is so good at producing fun twisty quick reads and I just want to read them all!! I’m always kept interested and just fly through his books as they are total page turners.
Imagine your mother in law moves in unexpectedly and creates all the drama from day one! That’s all you need to know about this one as you should go in blind and just hang on for the wild ride!
This book commited the cardinal sin no thriller ever should: it was boring.
It took so long for anything to happen, and then, when it did, I didn't care. None of the characters were likable, even the one you were supposed to be rooting for. Leo and his mother were both very manipulative and gaslightly but so obvious about it, and Madelyn was whiney.
The reason I gave this two stars instead of one is because the plot twist, and one death, did catch me off guard. Whilst I didn't see either coming, I just didn't care enough by the time it did; I was ready for it be finished.
The writing itself was very repetitive, and I wish there had been paragraph serperation within the chapters themselves.
Imagine having a mother-in-law who hates you... Even worse, imagine she comes to live with you and your husband. And then there is the suspicion that she murdered her husband... Another brilliant thriller from James Caine that keeps you guessing and racing through the pages until the shocking ending. Great twists and turns, a brilliant read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for this eARC. I really enjoyed the premise of She Won't Leave by James Caine. A maid turned trophy wife who is now suddenly dealing with her overbearing and sinister mother-in-law living in her mansion. I enjoyed the quick read and plot twists. I will say that the actual writing felt very elementary to me and not incredibly well thought out with discrepancies throughout. That being said, I did enjoy the thrilling ride.
Thanks to NetGalley and #VictoryEditing for the book #SheWontLeave by #JamesCaine. This is such a phenomenal book, I read it in one sitting. Could not put it down! A mother in law moves in and makes her son’s wife miserable. There are so many bad things happening including murder. But who is responsible for everything happening? Could she be killing people for her gain? I love this story along all of James Caines other books and highly recommend it!
I can always count on Caine to deliver a fast-paced, nail-biting thriller with psychotic characters that are perfect for stirring up your emotions and making you feel like a madman. This book had my skin crawling and my blood boiling! I was literally ready to go to war for Madelyn and open up my inner gangsta can of whoop a$$. I tore through the pages like my life depended on it and I most certainly did NOT see that ending coming. What a wild ride! I think this is my new favorite of Caine's and I immensely enjoyed reading it. Can't wait to see what he comes out with next! I highly recommend this one!
Thank you to the author, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for granting me digital access in exchange for my honest review!
As someone who frequently has beef with her mother-in-law, James Caine sure knows how to write an amusing and exaggerated fictional depiction of the very real relational drama that is often between mother in law and daughter in law. There were so many times I was reading this book and I found myself reflecting on situations with my own mother in law that were similar.
She Won’t Leave was a great quick read. It was fun, colorful and written in a way that was relatable to those with mother-in-laws that know no boundaries. It was humorous and thrilling at the same time. This story will leave you being thankful for your own monster in law, reality could never get this crazy! I will definitely recommend this read.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in return for my review.
Wow, trust no one especially in this hook. Not only were most of the characters quite unlikable but you can’t trust a single one of them, these qualities go hand in hand and I have to commend the author on this. The way these characters are written makes the reader so frustrated to the point where, I wanted to throw my kindle across the room.
A short but thrilling read with plenty of twists to keep you guessing.
Good book! Wow! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, gas lighting, a fantastic who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Thank you Victory Editing and NetGalley for an early copy of She Won’t Leave. I loved the title, the book was a very fast read, I didn’t trust Leo right from the start. I liked Madelyn a lot, she was a great character. You want to hate Delores BUT WAIT……… the last page is what I knew from the prologue but it wrapped up nicely.
