Lisa Jackson sends readers on quite a ride with Our LIttle Secret. The heroine, if one could call her that has decided to break off her affair. The young man she has lusted for has gotten a little out of hand and she wants to concentrate on her family. As she tries to break it off and pull away she finds out more than she bargained for, not just about him but her own husband and his secrets. Can this family stay together? It's a wild ride. Thanks to #NetGalley#OurLittleSecret#LisaJackson for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Wow. There is so much to unpack in this book. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down. There were so many twists and turns and how everything came together…ugh. I am glad we got resolutions to all the storylines. What a great thriller to suck you in. Cheating spouses, snarky teenagers, crazy siblings and stalker vibes, this book has it all. The characters are all so real and you keep reading because you want to know more and find out their secrets. Thank you NetGalley and Kensington books for this great read! I loved it and would highly recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC

I was so excited to read Our Little Secret. The marketing material called this " a sexy, gender swapped Fatal Attraction ". That happens to be one of my favorite movies. I was seriously disappointed. The characters in this book just annoyed me. Brooke was the worst. She actively ignored a million red flags. She made the most idiotic decisions possible. I don't need a "likeable" character. I just want them to be interesting. Nobody was particularly fun or interesting to follow. Fatal Attraction was a great movie because of the chemistry between the characters and the build up to a crazy conclusion. I got very little chemistry between the characters here. And the conclusion took way too long to arrive. The story felt overwritten and repetitive. The last 5% was decent, but unfortunately it didn't save the book.

This was my first Lisa Jackson book and I enjoyed it. The book has many twists and lots of lies and deception. I will say I was gripped immediately but felt that the story became predictable as time went on. I still enjoyed the book and will definitely read more by this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the e-arc copy in exchange for my honest review.

Yikes! How does the author come up with these stories?!? This one was a nail biter! I loved it, and can’t wait for the next one!

I’d like to thank Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Our Little Secret’ written by Lisa Jackson in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Brooke Harmon has been having an affair with Gideon Ross but she wants to end their affair and when she tells him he says he’ll kill for what he wants. Then she starts receiving messages from an unknown number on the burner phone she uses only for Gideon. Is it him or has he passed her number to someone else?

I had high hopes for ‘Our Little Secret’ as I like Lisa Jackson’s style of writing and although it started off well it quickly went downhill with characters who were quite frankly horrible and totally unbelievable. The plot was absurd in places, such as when Brooke’s husband orders a pizza and who should deliver it but Gideon! I so wanted to enjoy this novel but it was so predictable that I skipped chapters so I could get to the final conclusion which was abrupt and a fitting end to a novel that I didn’t enjoy at all. Sorry!

This has not been the first book I read of author Lisa Jackson, and I have to say I was not disappointed. It was fairly easy to follow along and had a lot of mystery. They sister rivalry was through the roof!

I liked that it had action almost all throughout and it definitely kept me on my toes. Brooke made a HUGE mistake by having an affair with a total psycho! You know, those ones that say, "If I can't have you, no one will."

I have to say that I was not a fan of Brooke's sister Leah. She just didn't know how to let things go and played the victim card ALL the time. Neal, Brooke's husband, was also not my favorite. The sneaking around and doing things behind Brooke's back regarding THEIR money just irritated me so much.

I did feel like the end was a little rushed. I wanted to read more about the life changes that occurred after the fact. I don't want to get into detail because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I feel like the epilogue could have included an explanation on Neal and Leah's part and confrontation between the three. I was left with so many questions!

Overall, this is a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read for me. I highly recommend!

I want to thank Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review.

**Our Little Secret** by Lisa Jackson is a taut, psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story revolves around Brooke Harmon, who, after ending a brief affair with the charming yet obsessive Gideon Ross, hopes to put the past behind her and salvage her family life. However, Gideon's ominous promise to never let her go casts a long shadow over Brooke's attempt to move on.

As a year passes and Gideon seemingly vanishes, Brooke's sense of unease persists, blurring the line between paranoia and justified fear. Lisa Jackson masterfully weaves a narrative of suspense and tension, as Brooke's world teeters on the edge of normalcy and terror.

This book was decent. I think it was a bit predictable, but that doesn't mean it wasn't worth the read! I also think that the book would have hit the same with much fewer words. The ending was rather abrupt, I was a bit disappointed that it was wrapped up so cleanly so quickly.

Thank you Lisa Jackson, Kensington Publishing, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

MINI REVIEW🤫👀🌪️

Our Little Secret - Lisa Jackson
PUB DATE: 6/25/2024
My rating: ⭐️⭐️/5 stars 🥴

Ok guys, I don’t *like* posting reviews of books I didn’t enjoy, BUT, I also want to remind everyone I am a human and I’m not the type of person who is going to act like I love a book just because I want likes/shares/engagement etc.
Some of my favorite Bookstagram accounts on here are those of you who post 100% honest reviews, including books you did not like!

👀That being said… this book was just not enjoyable whatsoever. I had never read anything by this author before, but it wasn’t a good first impression.
The main character is a woman named Brooke, who has recently reconciled with her husband after a short separation, & therefore decides to end her whirlwind “affair” —(? Not sure how it was an affair if her & her husband were seperated & living apart, but ooook)—with Gideon Ross, a mysterious man she met & started sleeping with during that time. The book begins with Brooke confronting Gideon & telling him she wants to end their secret relationship & work on her marriage and family. Gideon does NOT like this. *Cue the crazy stalker ex-lover*, & In true “if I can’t have you, no one can” fashion, Gideon begins stalking Brooke, even going as far as breaking into her home & setting up secret cameras to spy on her & her husband, & their teenage daughter (gross). Despite having tons of proof that Gideon is stalking her and also proof that he is threatening her own daughter, Brooke decides not to go to the police or tell anyone.
🙄All of the characters are extremely unlikeable. Don’t even get me started about the sister LOL. Brooke’s husband Neal is a complete dumbass too, and Oh I forgot to mention… he literally cheated on Brooke a few years prior to this, while they were married, yet Brooke is sooooo scared to come clean to him about this “affair” with Gideon that she had, while they were seperated.. even when her own family is in danger because of it. ????🫠🫠🫠🫠
Super repetitive, boring, aggravating.

I’m done! I give it a 4 out of 5 stars! I really enjoyed it! It kept me pulled in from the first couple of pages. A couple twists I did NOT see coming!! The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 was because the ending was a total let down. After reading an entire book that kept you on the edge of your seat, the ending was super quick, expected and lacked everything the rest of the book had.

oooooo man I love domestic thrillers like this. Lisa Jackson is the queen of these types of stories and this didnt disappoint. From the begining I wanted to know the end and wanted to know who would end up dead or alive or even behind bars. Gideon was nuts and I'm not trying to spoil anything but omgggg great evil character.

Nope. This one just doesn't make the cut of great reads. It's not even a good read, in my opinion. Trite and overdone storyline with characters that are just unlikeable. This is probably one of my least favorite books of the year. This is one Lisa Jackson book I will not be recommending.

Thank you #netgalley and #kensington for the eARC.

This book took me on a rollercoaster ride; I couldn’t escape the drama and trauma of the characters—except for Shep, the family dog. He was the only one who didn’t stress me out. Before diving into the review, I want to express my gratitude to the author and Kensington for providing me with an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) in exchange for an honest and opinionated review.

I rates this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (3.5 stars).

From the very beginning, I was hooked on the story. The characters, though annoying at times, were strangely enjoyable. They made me cringe, laugh, and even hate their personalities. Leah, in particular, struck me as the perpetual victim, and she became my least favorite character. Yet, their flaws and complexities mirrored real-world people, a testament to the author’s skill in creating authentic characters.

The writing style and plot were engaging. The balance between dialogue and description was just right—I appreciated glimpses into the characters’ thoughts and text messages.

However, my rating falls short of a full 4 stars because I could predict certain events. The ending, especially concerning one of the missing girls, felt rushed. Predictability can dampen the reading experience. If you’ve seen movies where someone becomes obsessed and will stop at nothing to possess another person, you might anticipate some twists. Still, if you enjoy such themes, this book is worth your time.

Overall, Lisa Jackson’s writing style and suspenseful plot kept me guessing. Despite my reservations, I won’t hesitate to explore more of her books in the future.

This book fell flat for me. It had so much going on, but the writing wasn’t captivating as I would like it for a thriller.

I've read multiple Lisa Jackson books over the years, and they never disappoint. She has a real knack for coming up with interesting and distinctive characters and weaving them into a suspenseful, tense plot. What I enjoyed most about this book was the realistic family squabbles between the main character Brooke, her sister Leah, her husband Neal, and her daughter Marilee. The family drama only adds to the tension caused by Brooke's lover Gideon who refuses to let Brooke end their affair and will go to any lengths to keep her. Fans of domestic suspense and thrillers will definitely enjoy this book.

Our Little Secret was my first ready by Lisa Jackson. The story felt a little predictable & very cliched from the beginning. I finished but didn’t find this to be the type of thriller that I crave.

Thank you NetGalley & Kensington Publishing for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This one started a little cliche, cheating spouse and creepy boyfriend? Very overly dramatic.

The story line did get better as the book continued but overall I wasn't thrilled by this one. It's all a bit over the top and the ending felt a little rushed and also dramatic.

When Brooke tries to end her affair with Gideon, he refuses to let go. He soon starts sending threatening texts, and Brooke starts seeing him everywhere she goes. Scared of losing her family, she tries to ignore it and keeps her fears and deceit to herself. However, as the threats start escalating, she begins to fear not only for herself but for the safety of her family, including her teenage daughter.

This was a good scorned lover story filled with obsession and betrayal. For fans who love being entertained on unhealthy, toxic relationships, you will love and devour this one. There were, however, a few things that irked me, which is kind of a surprise with this seasoned author. The protagonist seemed a little too naive and oftentimes didn't see what was right in front of her eyes. She also didn't use her brain a whole lot. If your secret burner phone goes off while around people who don't know about it the first fifty times, turn it on silent already. It didn't add to the story, so it was one of those things that the protagonist didn't need to be dumb about. The ending, while predictable, was done well and had just the right kind of escalation and climax. Overall, I give this one three and a half stars.

Thank you, Netgalley and Kensington Publishing, for this ARC.

I gave Our Little Secret three ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you Net Galley and Kensington
Publishing for this ARC. These are my honest opinions.

I love a good thriller and I love a good Lisa Jackson book. This one was lacking, though. It isn’t up to the normal Lisa Jackson expectations. I didn’t care for the characters. Like, none of them. The main character, Brooke, was especially annoying. Well, her sister and daughter were just about as bad. They were all self centered and just annoying. Brooke had an affair with- kind of. Her husband had had an affair, he moved out and they were separated for months. The affair was wrong, but not as wrong as if her husband had never cheated and left. But, her guilt trips on herself were too much. And everybody was hiding something.

There were some twists, and those were pretty predictable. And the ending was rushed and then it was just over.

Some people may enjoy this book though!

Our Little Secret by Lisa Jackson is a highly recommended twisty domestic thriller about secrets, obsession, and betrayal. There are some Fatal Attraction

Brooke Harmon ends her affair with Gideon Ross. Brooke and her husband Neal were having problems, but they are working on their marriage now. The two have a fourteen-year-old daughter, Marilee. Gideon claims he will never let Brooke go, something he makes quite clear as he obsessively contacts and stalks her. He even becomes violent. On top of all her stress over Gideon she keeps getting strange texts say he is not who she thinks he is, Marilee has an attitude, and then Leah, Brooke’s sister, decides to visit. Leah blames Brooke for all her unhappiness and is always asking for money.

Our Little Secret is a fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists and an all consuming sense of fear and dread hanging over every chapter. That will keep you reading as the fall-out from poor decisions rain down upon the family. The drama picks up toward the end when all the secrets and betrayals are exposed.

Conversely, you need to know that it is a bit predictable. Astute readers are going to feel the "Fatal Attraction" vibes and suspect where the plot is going. This won't stop you from reading because none of the characters are likable or trustworthy in novel so you won't care too much what happens to them as the plot unfolds. (Except for the good boy, their dog Shep.) Really, the human characters are all annoying. I never want to meet any of them anywhere.

Jackson gets major writing points for creating a plot so compelling that I could overlook such aggravating characters and keep reading because I needed to know how it all ended. Thanks to Kensington for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.

The review will be published on Edelweiss, X, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
