The chemistry between these two is amazing!
I loved the lightness and banter they brought to each other.
Anneka Walker wrote with such wonderful tension and mystery.
I loved the cinder, ash and glass metaphors. They were beautiful anecdotes both as nods to the original and as ways to deepen the characters.
She had interesting ways of blending in favorite Cinderella moments while still writing a completely unique story of its own.
I loved the feeling of home and belonging she wove through it and the way she kept the mystery pulling you along. This is such a fun read!
This is a great regency twist in the Cinderella story. The author is a master storyteller. She paints such a picture with her words that the reader is transported right into the story.
I saw this book advertised a few times on Bookstagram and I decided I needed to look into reading it. While Walker isn’t a completely new to me author, I’ve only read one by her a couple years ago.
I adored this adventure. A historical fiction romance taking place in the regency era with real historical connections was a great back drop. Adding in the suspense and a Cinderella spin took things over the top. A murder mystery, spies, glassblowing, family, and touches of faith made this an incredible read that I didn’t want to put down. This romance had dual POV and while it is the third in the series, and I could tell there was a lot of history since the mains of those stories where supremely prominent in this book, it worked well as a stand-alone also. I would love to read more by this author.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Of this standalone series this has been my favorite of them. I felt like this story made more sense than some of the others. I really liked this retelling of Cinderella and the use of glass. It was used in ways I'd never really thought about which was really cool! I enjoyed this book!

Theresia Dvorak has nothing left of her parents except her unusual dowry which is a priceless crystal vase. However, it has been stolen by her stepmother and Theresia is determined to get it back, even if it means assuming a false identity and stealing it back. Gaining access to a house party as a musician, she runs into naval captain Rolland Reese, who makes a daring proposal she cannot refuse. He will work with her to gain her dowry back, if he can determine who wants his father dead. As Rolland unravels a tangle of clues, he faces the greatest threats of all, falling in love, knowing that a future together is impossible.
Not only was this an amazing suspenseful thriller but a sweet romance. Rolland is a true hero, doing all that he can to assist Theresia. Likewise, Theresia has a determined nature but with a kindness that shows through to Rolland. An enjoyable read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It has been a while since I've read one of Ms. Walker's fairy tale retellings. It was fun to read and fun to see the characters from previous retellings. It was also fun to see the parallels to Cinderella in the story. Glass is a big element in the plot, she has a lovely Godfather, and she even leaves a shoe behind for her "prince to retrieve" though it doesn't happen exactly the same way.
I think my only complaint was that every time the step sister started to speak her stepmother interrupted so I never got a really clear picture of what she was like. Was she mean or nice or just under the thumb of her mother? I don't really know. And since she is a minor character in the story even if her name comes up a lot I guess it doesn't matter that much if I do know.
I loved watching the way Theresia touched Rolland's heart and funny bone. It was lovely to watch his self imposed walls come down bit by bit. Their banter was fun and how they interact with each other too. I also loved Rolland's mother and Theresia's Godfather even though we didn't get to spend all that much time with him.
There is a thief and a murderer to catch and I didn't figure out who done it a head of time. It was not an obvious case to me. The romance was the bigger part of the story but the mystery was not a minor part of the plot.
Loved the book.

Someone seems to be targeting government officials, and Rolland’s father is next on the list. He and his friends, who spy for the crown, decide to invite all of the suspects for a house party where they can work together and stop the murderer. It should only take a day or two…
When it becomes more complicated than they thought and Theresia has another angle to explore, they bring her into the house party with the fake identity, Lady Glass.
I loved the intrigue, the high stakes, and the tender moments! Theresia and Rolland were perfect together: such chemistry, trust, and care for one another. I loved this loosely based Cinderella story!
I have adored Anneka R Walker's Matchmaking Mamas series. But I didn't love her book The Dreaming Beauty. I can't say the complaints I had with The Dreaming Beauty are exactly the same as they are with The Lady Glass, but there are similarities in the feel. For one, the pacing was slow at the beginning of The Lady Glass. I try not to be someone who has a short attention span, but I prefer to be hooked into the storyline quickly if possible.
Marcus, who was the leading male character of the previous book, is hosting a house party full of guests who are suspects in a murder and plot of the potential murder of Rolland's father. Rolland is the main male character in this story. He was a captain in the Navy until he was injured in the line of duty. He is still recovering, but his main purpose for now is the discovery of the murderer. He, Marcus, Ellis (the leading male character from The Masked Baron, which I haven't read), and Simon--a friend from school--are the main crew investigating. I was disappointed in their efforts during this book. None of the characters involved in solving mysteries and spying for the government in the past books did anything noteworthy to discover the murderer in their midst. Their attempts were nonexistent and pathetic. I mean, this served for the plot, but it felt unrealistic or believable how little progress was being made. Or more than that, the effort behind the progress is what was so lacking.
Theresia was fine. I mean, when I look at her knowing that she has nothing to lose by seeking the vase her father promised to be her dowry, but her stepmother sold, I guess I can understand some of her actions. But that's a stretch. She had almost a disregard for her life at the expense of her quest. She was involved in breaking and entering and searching other people's property, who she has no indication actually stole her vase. Theresia did more for the investigation than any of the four men who have spy and military backgrounds did.
I did end up reading most of The Lady Glass quickly. But I think the mystery plot might be Anneka R Walker's downfall. These aspects tend to bring up the unbelievable simply for the sake of the mystery plot. I think her storytelling is much better without the mystery components. But I liked Rolland and Theresia overall. The Lady Glass gets 3 Stars. Have you read The Lady Glass? What did you think? Let me know!
Theresia Dvorak just wants her father's vase, the one that rightfully belongs to her. When it is secretly sold without her permission, Theresia decides she will get it back no matter what it takes. Captain Rolland Reese becomes a reluctant ally when he realizes Miss Dvorak could be helpful in solving the mystery of who is trying to kill his father. As the house party continues, will they be able to keep everyone safe and find Theresia's vase?
This book is a murder mystery romance set in 1814. This story pulled me in from the very beginning. It has Cinderella vibes but with a "Fairy" Godfather instead. I really loved this story and loved seeing some characters from previous books. I highly recommend you give this sweet historical romance a read!
@anneka…. ‘s next novel in the Enchanted Regency Romance series, The Lady Glass was one I did not want to put down. I struggle with fairytale retellings that just follow the fairytale story. Walker weaves Cinderella into this book in a way that you can see the Cinderella elements, but it’s not just a copy of it. It was so well written!

This Cinderella-esque mystery romance would have made the evil stepsisters swoon! I loved how the subtle nods to the original fit wonderfully into this unique story Anneka created.
Theresia has lost the one thing most precious to her when her wicked stepmother sells the vase her late father left for her dowry. That is the last straw in the long list of terrible things she has endured. Theresia decides to find the vase and escape back to her homeland.
The search for the vase leads her to a house party that she soon discovers is a ruse for a secret investigation into suspicious activities surrounding a murder mystery. And to add to the surprise one of the gentlemen leading the search is Rolland Reese, the mysterious man who helped her thwart an attempted robbery.
When the pieces begin to fall into place, Rolland and Theresia realize their causes may be related, so they devise a plan to aid each other.
This was a pure delight! Theresia is such a fun character, kind, sweet, resourceful, and quick witted. She find herself in the most awkward and hilarious situations. Rolland is a serious man who is devoted to family and country. He has no desire for romance, but Theresia and her charms prove irresistible.
Highly recommend! Thank you to @netgalley and @covenantcommunications for the advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

An irresistible twist on the Cinderella fairytale! I adore Anneka Walker’s fairytale retellings & The Lady Glass’ a new favorite. This third book in the Enchanted Regency Romance series is filled with mystery, romance, spies, & so many clever nods to the original fairytale.
The only thing Theresia Dvorak has left of her family is a priceless vase made by her brilliant glassblower father, meant to be her dowry. When her cruel stepmother sells the vase, Theresia embarks on a daring mission to retrieve it. She sneaks into a house party where she believes the vase is only to be discovered by the handsome gentleman throwing it. Though suspicious at first, he believes her & enlists her help in rooting out a murderer.
Captain Rolland Reese returned from the war scarred in more ways than one. He’s also returned to find a plot to murder his father. He decides to throw a house party as a way to ferret out the murderer. The gorgeous beauty he finds sneaking into his room also finds a way into his previously shuttered heart. As they work together to find her vase & the suspected murderer, they face danger, mystery, & love.
Theresia’s an amazingly talented, strong Cinderella. I enjoyed her quick wit & thoughtful personality. Loved the witty banter between her & Rolland & their sigh-worthy romance. Rolland’s a wounded hero, but every bit the charming prince. I enjoyed the ways he & Theresia grew together as the story progressed.
All the nods to the fairytale were fantastic including: the cinders, a mysterious godfather, a conniving stepmother, beautiful dresses that magically appear, an innocent stepsister, glass slippers & how she loses one, the ball, & so many others.
The mystery added an exciting element & kept me guessing. Loved the house party setting with all the suspects. Along with the intriguing mystery & romance were beautiful messages of sacrifice, true love/friendship, & the real meaning of the treasure woven throughout the story.
A creative twist on the original that’s a must read for Regency mystery/romance & fairytale fans. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author & publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided. 4.5-5 stars!
This is a regency era romance, mystery, fairytale. An enchanted Regency romance series. I have loved the other books in this series and this one is wonderful also. The wit and the banter is spot on. The characters are written so well. Rolland is the perfect prince hero -so swoony. Theresia plays the Cinderella role to a Tee. We have the wicked stepmother, the unknowing stepsister and of course the Godfather. There is a lot going on from beginning to end, but it all plays out smoothly. The story will keep you up at night because you did not want to put it down. I love Anneka Walkers books, she writes clean wholesome stories That are intriguing witty and always entertaining. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I enjoyed this Regency era retelling of Cinderella. It was such a unique take on the Cinderella story, while still weaving in so many aspects of the original story that I love - a kind hearted leading lady, a dashing hero, a mysterious godfather, a slipper lost at a ball, a terrible stepmother, the sweetest romance.....man. It is just so good.
Besides all the nods to the original Cinderella story, I loved the murder mystery aspect to this story. There were definitely some plot twists there at the end that I didn't see coming, which was awesome. The suspense in the last fourth of the book was really great.
My only real complaint with the book is that it seemed so long. When I was called away from reading to take care of real life, I wasn't upset about it. I guess I would've hoped for a little more spark of excitement, something to really pull me into the story to keep me wanting to read it.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the early copy of the book; all thoughts are my own.
The Lady Glass by Anneka Walker
Is such a creative Cinderella retelling! It has its own strengths and merits while pulling from the original fairy tale themes in such a unique way. Not to mention the reappearance of other characters from this series. I loved the spunk and sass seen in Theresia, from the first moment we meet her, all the way to the end. Rolland is a naval captain and set to help secure political allies through whatever means necessary. He did not plan on Theresia, who becomes Lady Glass to assist in his newest mission. I relished the Roma and glass backstories and how they tie into the mystery. The side characters were delightful, especially the godfather!!! There is an excellent cadence with plenty of romance and charm. I enjoyed the depth of the characters and the relationships that were built.
If you enjoy clean, sweet fairytale retelling with some creative twists and excellent storytelling, you won’t want to miss this one!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
The Lady Glass is a great read. I like the characters and seeing progression in the past stories in the Enchanted Regency Romance series. The house party takes place at the home of Marcus, Duke of Westmoreland, who was the hero of Dreaming Beauty.
The hero of The Lady Glass is Rolland Reese. He is a Captain and he is attempting to safeguard his father who is on a committee that will be seeking to stabilize Europe.
Theresia Dvorak is the daughter of a Bohemian glass blower. She is a Cinderella template but has much gumption that leads her into some interesting situations.
I recommend reading The Lady Glass.
Thanks to Netgalley and Covenant Communications for the opportunity to read this book.
Lady Glass is a charming romance with a somewhat far-fetched plot. The story follows Eliza, who is looking to retrieve a vase given to her as inheritance from he father, and Henry, an injured navy captain trying to uncover who is threatening his father. Their chemistry is delightful, and I enjoyed their perspectives.
Fans of Walker’s previous works will be pleased to see familiar faces making appearances. However, I found that the author’s attachment to these recurring characters sometimes overshadowed the main storyline, which is a personal preference.
Overall, “Lady Glass” is an enjoyable read with likeable characters and a heartwarming romance. If you’re looking for a light and entertaining read, this book is a worthy pick.
4.5 stars
This book looked so good and it did not disappoint. I have greatly enjoyed this series and I was excited to see that there was going to be another book in the series. The Lady Glass is the third book in Anneka Walker’s Enchanted Regency Romance series. It is such a fun twist on Cinderella.
I adored both Theresia and Rolland from the beginning, they were both such intriguing characters. It was interesting to read about them and get to know them better. I loved their interactions and banter.
Theresia was definitely a fun Cinderella character. I love how she wasn’t weak but instead was witty and cunning. She was trying to survive in a world that hadn’t been kind to her. Theresia had to learn what was truly important to her and how far she would go to get her vase back. Oh Rolland, he was just trying his best to navigate life. He was kind of brooding but he was kind underneath his seriousness. I like how Theresia brought out a different side of him.
I greatly enjoyed this book and getting to know the characters. The suspense and hints of mystery had me on the edge of my seat, and I wanted to know how this book would end. There were so many twists and turns that I did not expect. I also love getting to see some old characters.
I would totally recommend this book! It was a wonderful addition to a fun series. The Lady Glass is a clean historical romance with hints of mystery.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
#BookRevew : THE LADY GLASS by Anneka R. Walker
The Lady Glass is my first book by this author, and I loved it! This is a fantastic Cinderella retelling! It adds a layer of enchantment with mysterious events surrounding Theresia. By the way, I love her name!
Theresia's relationship with her stepmother was strained, so when her father's (a glassblower) prized vase went missing, she didn't hesitate to track it down. This marked the beginning of her intriguing journey.
The thief incident and Theresia's unwitting climb onto Rolland's window were not only interesting meet-cutes, but also created a memorable connection for both of them. Despite the vast difference in their social status, they couldn't resist the pull they felt towards each other. Their witty banter, never over-the-top but always charming, was a highlight. I always look forward to their time together. Rolland couldn't help but seek Theresia out. His protectiveness towards her during the danger brewing at the house party was heartwarming.
The story's pacing kept me captivated the entire time. The secondary characters were amazing as well. I love Theresia’s new found friends. I really enjoyed this book. Now I'm eager to dive into the first two books in the series, particularly "The Masked Baron."
