What a wonderful retelling of Cinderella! Anneka Walker is a master storyteller. I love this unique Regency Romance turned mystery turned spy thriller. The main characters were so likable and good.

Theresia’s story is one of rags to riches. She’s had to endure so much and has overcome it all. After being unfairly treated by her stepmother she comes home to claim her crystal vase. It is the last item she has linking her to her deceased father. It was his special gift to her and also her dowery. When her stepmother sells it without her permission Theresia is determined to recover it whatever the cost.

Roland has returned from war to find someone has been murdered and is now threatening his father’s life. He’s determined to find the murderer and prevent his father’s death.

Theresia and Roland meet under unusual circumstances and come to find that both of their causes may be related. So they join forces to find the vase and discover the murderer. What they didn’t expect was to find the feelings they had for each other.

This is an exciting tale that will keep you turning pages. I highly recommend it.

This is a Cinderella inspired or reimagined story. Theresia Dvorak’s stepmother sends her away to school. When she returns home she finds stepmom is selling a priceless crystal vase that was left to Theresia by her father as her dowry. It is supposed to contain clues to the glass maker's treasure. Theresia is determined to find a way to get the vase back. Rolland Reese is a recently returned home Navy Captain. When the pair meet there is instant chemistry. They meet at a house party where Rolland is trying to solve a murder mystery. It adds intrigue to this romance novel. I will say I didn’t guess the culprit. The author writes clean romances and this is the first time I think that she has worked in a mystery too. I did enjoy the characters and the fairy godfather figure. I’m not fond of the Cinderella story so retellings are hit and miss for me but this one works. This is the third in the author's Enchanted Regency Romances series. It can be read on its own but does have cross over characters.

I adored this book. Theresia is courageous, kind and full of spirit. I loved the overtones of Cinderella but the story is still quite different. Rolland is fiercely loyal and good. He is also very serious. Rolland and Theresia have several fabulous unintentional meetings that are so fun to read. I love that there are twists and turns that you don't necessarily see coming. There is great chemistry and romance as well. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it.

“The Lady Glass” by Anneka R. Walker is the upcoming third book in “The Enchanted Regency Romance” series. It is a take on the classic “Cinderella” tale so the usual suspects are found in the story with some very creative twists. The daughter of a glass blower is finding her way in the world but her evil stepmother thwarts her plans at every turn. Thankfully we have a dashing Captain, his friends and “Godfather” to aid our damsel and also figure out a mysterious danger. “The Lady Glass” was very enjoyable and I will be checking out the first and second books in the series as well, and you should too!

“The Lady Glass" by Anneka Walker is such a sweet Regency romance! If you know me, you know I love a good retelling. This one absolutely delivers! The author does an excellent job of incorporating the elements of the original “Cinderella” fairy tale into the story in a non-magical way. Ms. Walker gives fun nods to the fairy tale, while also making it a unique story of her own. The love story between the main characters is perfection. I could feel the chemistry and sparks fly between the them every time they met. I love their interactions and banter. There is even a moment similar to Darcy’s hand flex from the 2005 “Pride and Prejudice” movie. Swoon!! Rolland, our male protagonist, is a good representation of a character dealing with chronic pain. Rolland is a little gruff on the exterior, due to his previous experience as a naval captain, with a heart of gold. Theresia is spunky, brave, and stubborn. Will Rolland and Theresia be able to each achieve their goals together by solving the murder mystery and finding Theresia’s missing glass vase? These two have a bit of an enemies-to-lovers story, which is a trope many readers love! This story is not just a romance, but also a murder mystery, ripe with spies and intrigue! I enjoyed learning more about female violinists of the time, the Congress of Vienna, and the Czech glassblowers. Ms. Walker even incorporates a bit of faith content into the story, which I always love to see. Although “The Lady Glass” is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Ms. Walker gives a quick summary of who characters are from other books, so you will not be confused if you only read this book or start here. I want to now go back and read the rest of the books in this series. Fans of “Bridgerton” will love this romance without having to be worried about explicit content.

Content: I give this story a PG rating. It is clean as far as the romance. Some examples of the content are: a person wants to keep from being seen as a “light skirt”; there’s mention of the prejudice of the English against the Roma people during this time period; some characters go to a fortune teller; there is talk of a woman being mistaken for someone’s mistress; someone curses, but the words aren’t actually spoken; someone was drunk in the past.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, Anneka Walker, and Covenant Communications and was under no obligation to post a review.

When Theresia's only possesion left for her parents is stolen, she decides to asume a false idenrity and get what is hers back. But a encounter with a charming captain puts her charade in danger. She is not going to trust in English people again, less a man, handsome or not, but then, the man proposed her working together and both would get what they want.
Rolland has just land from a long journey. But he is requested because someone, his father, is threathened with death. The solution to reach the suspect is to throw a House party and invite all the people who could be culprit of the threat and murder. He has to be fast or his father would be killed. The thing is that one of the most suspicious people from the party seems to be Theresia, so why is he always doing all he could to protect her? Step by step Rolland will untangled the killer identity, but also he would unravel their true feelings toward her and also face a future that he had not expected.

Well written, great banter, good Historical setting, mystery and great romance
Can't wait for the next book from Anneka!

I have been catching up on Anneka Walker's books and her regency fairytale retelling series was a very pleasant surprise. The Lady Glass is a fascinating Cinderella retelling full of romance and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Theresia is a foreigner with nothing left to her but a priceless glass vase that her father made for her, but, of course her step mother refuses to give up. Rolland had recently returned from the being a captain in the Navy only to find that there are threats he still has to face at home. Through a series of circumstances their two goals become tangled up.
This was lovely and interesting! A very great novel!

I received a copy from Netgally and all opinions are my own.

Cinderella got a modern makeover and I am HERE. FOR. IT. The cast of characters had me hooked and the plot twists kept me on my toes - I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!

The banter and chemistry between Rolland and Theresia had me giggling like a schoolgirl, and their hilarious run-ins were the cherry on top! Let's not forget the side characters - Rolland's mom and the mysterious godfather stole my heart, while the stepmother and Rolland's father were like the villains in a comedy show. And that house party mystery? It was like a real-life game of Clue!

If you're all about that Regency life but also love a good dose of danger and wit, then this book is your cup of tea, my friend!

❓What’s your favorite enchanted story? Mine is Cinderella.

Anneka Walker's latest entry in her Enchanted Regency series was a delightful murder mystery! There are so many angles and elements to love - the Bohemian violinist, the Naval captain dealing with what he's seen and done, the friends who join their specific talents to solve mysteries, the side characters from indigent circumstances who have a large impact on the main character, the glassblowing tradition - if you don't lean something new by reading this wonderful story, I'll be surprised!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

I loved this cinderella-esque story from Anneka Walker and was immediately engaged. The heroine is strong and brave despite losing her father years ago and being left with no supportive family. It was intriguing to have a murder mystery tied up in between the budding romance between Reese and Theresia. With Captain Reese being matched with another what can happen between them?

This book was a fun one to read. I loved the nods to Cinderella- they were subtle, but there.
I liked that it had romance but also a good mystery- I didn’t want to put it down.
It was well written. The characters were likable and the bad guy was also well done.
I believe this is part of a series, but it can be annoyed as a stand-alone.
I can’t wait for the next book

I am always excited when I see a new book by Anneka Walker. I enjoy fairy tale retellings and Cinderella is my favorite, so I was really looking forward to this one.

The romance was up and down for me
- it started well, quickly became an insta love connection and eventually finished strong. it was a bit much to go from virtual strangers (while he’s on the lookout for a murderer no less) to being so obsessed and possessive of one another. Honestly, that’s usually the best part - the initial spark of interest and watching it grow. We seem to have skipped it entirely.

The catalyst appeared to be the visit to the fortune teller, which I wasn’t a fan of either. Christians are warned against engaging in such things and it was just casually slipped in and seemingly used to take things from 0-60 in 5 seconds with our two MCs.

Theresia fits right in with and is thoroughly embraced by Tansy and Andalin. This bothers me because 1) none of them seem to have any flaws 2) they are nothing like the ton / what society values at that time which 3) makes them all feel kind of cookie cutter- ish. To be fair, I have this similar complaint with a lot of fairy tale retellings (too perfect), so it could just be sticking to the style. And 4) it feels like another kind of insta love. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like people are slower to connect and bond, to embrace and trust. No one is skeptical or jealous or just shy. No, the women see and determine they are smitten and meant to be so they just embrace her like family. I can’t relate to this, and certainly not over and over again. (Tandy, andalin, his mother, etc).

I liked the “godfather” - his history, how he was worked in, his role.

It was an interesting backdrop. I loved the attention to historical detail. I liked the murder mystery spin (she got me)! It was a good blend of familiar story elements and fresh, creative (Cinderella) ideas.

This book had a slow start .
It follows the stories of Theresa and Rolland. Rolland is investigating a murder at a house party and Theresa is trying to find a missing vase that her father had left her as her inheritance . The book is described as a Cinderella like story but you don’t find out much about the step mom and why the relationship is what it is.

Theresa and Rolland’s lives intersect when he helps her during an attempted robbery.
They intersect again when he finds her sleuthing through the house he is staying in. He convinces her to disguise as Lady Glass to convince the ton she is a Lady instead of a wanderer . By posing she can help find the murderer and look for the hidden vase as well.

Im not sure why she was looking in this home for the vase I would have thought she would think it was gone -sold .
I had a hard time in seeing why she would get asked to help find a murderer when she kept showing up having stolen in to the home .

Rolland seems intrigued with her instantly and Theresa gradually feels the same .

I felt like there were some missing character development in the story - we don’t find out much about who Rolland is and Theresa’s back story doesn’t seem to match the story she’s in now. Nevertheless the story is intriguing and suspenseful . You aren’t sure who is the murderer until the very end . You are rooting for the couple in this clean romance . Well done .

I was provided a copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

There's not much I enjoy more than picking up a new book by Anneka Walker and her latest enchanted Regency romance was so fun to read. I really like how original and creative this story was. It's a unique twist on Cinderella, with a vibe all its own, full of rich historical details (I want to learn more about glassblowing and the people who traditionally perfected this art), and a charming romance set among a mystery that had me wondering who the murderer could be. It's got a little bit of a gothic vibe and complex characters I came to truly care for.
Theresia is a very fresh heroine. She is caught between worlds and unsure of where she really fits in society. I loved how cheeky she could be when she wanted to, especially at first with her interactions with Rolland. It made for some great flirting between the two right out the door. I also appreciated the way Theresia was over expectations and when her last tie to her father was stolen from her, we got to see the spunk she had been hiding inside and her determination rise to gain back what was rightfully hers. She shed the propriety she’d learned to be the heroine she needed.
Rolland was a fantastic hero. I loved his dedication and heart. I enjoyed watching him fall for the spirited Theresia and his acceptance of her regardless of what her perceived past and connections were. This story very gently reminds us to not judge others for their station in life or their background. It was super sweet.
I really enjoyed the mystery/spy aspect and that it wasn't predictable. It was fun to have cameos from the first two books in this series (all work as standalones and can be read out of order). This is a clean Regency romance with a light mystery, some fun banter/humor between the main characters, and deeper themes. I highly recommend it.
I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A unique Cinderella retelling which, although it had the right characters of the original, I’m happy to say the rest is quite different. It was a murder mystery, treasure hunt, as well as a romance. In order not to give any spoilers, I will just say I was able to guess some outcomes, but others I was completely surprised. Having lived in Germany, and visited Bavaria (in Germany) which is next to the Czech Republic, I was intrigued the story was inspired by the author’s ancestors, Bohemian/Czech glassblowers. I love historical fiction that makes me do a little more research to satisfy my curiosity about something in the story that peaks my interest, and I had to look up Bohemia to find out its history. My favorite part of the story was the lovely romance between Rolland and Theresia. Their chemistry practically sizzled even though this is a clean romance. I didn’t realize this was part of a series when I got it, but it did make me want to read the previous ones to know their stories. I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley and Covenant Communications but was not required to give a positive review.

This story was so much fun! All the twists and turns! I LOVED it! I had my suspicions on who was the robber and murder and was pleasantly surprised that I was completely wrong! I loved the characters and the journey to their love story!

Captain Reese is determined to do what his parents want him to do, including marrying the woman of his father's choosing. He has it all planned out, he just needs to solve the mystery of who is trying to kill his father. With the help of his friends, they host a house party to discover who the culprit is. What he doesn't expect is finding an intriguing and lovely Miss Dvorak.

The only thing Theresia has left of her family is a vase her father made for her, intending it to be her dowry. After her father's death, she is shooed away into a seminary by her horrible stepmother. When she finally becomes free of the seminary, the vase in only one thing she needs to get and then she can be done with her stepmother forever. However, her stepmother sells the vase before she has a chance to take it, Determined to find her vase, she makes her way to the same house party Captain Reese is attending.

A fun Cinderella Fairytale retelling. I wish I had read the books previous in this series before reading this one. It can be a stand alone but you can tell throughout that there are stories and characters and things you’ve missed from stories before this one.
I enjoyed the mystery intertwined with romance. At times though I did feel like there were too many characters and trying to keep up with them all and everything that makes them suspicious was a little much.
I really enjoyed the two main characters, Rolland and Theresia. Rolland is dealing with guilt and scars from his years in the Navy and now is home to keep threats away from his parents. Theresia is a bold character who is determined to get what belongs to her. Together they make a pretty formidable pair and along the way find love!
Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. I enjoy Anneka’s book and would recommend them.

What a fun tweak on Cinderella. We have a navy captain working to protect his father, a young woman spurned by her stepmother, trying to get back her dowry, and a godfather who helps out when things get tougher. Then we just throw in some spying, some linguistics, some death, hidden staircases, climbing up arbors, Roma camps, and you get a great story.

Reading this made me want to go back and reread the other two books in this series. I love when an author does that!

The characters are well formed, the plot well done. This is another winner!
