Cute little blue ridge read! I haven’t read any of the pervious jubilee books and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything- so no need to go back before you read this one. The story is easy to digest and the narration production did a nice job. A cute and easy, if not predictable little love story that has you rooting for the two main characters. I always find books like this to be a perfect palate cleanser from my typical thriller books.
The Blue Ridge Breakdown
Rachel Hanna
Ava is a runaway bride. She escapes the wedding, grabs her dog and old truck. She heads to the Appalachian Mountains. She doesn’t know where she is going, she just has to go. The snow is piling up and her old truck isn’t up to the challenge. Millie her dog gets away from her. She climbs back in the truck for refuge but its cold and getting colder. Jack is looking for people stranded in the storm for he knows someone will need his help. He lifts Ava from the cold truck and takes her to his home.
They are attracted to each other. But she has a secret.
This is a sweet romance. It is wholesome and cute. This is a nice easy read. This is the type of book I want to read sitting next to a crackling fire while sipping a cup of steaming coffee. The characters are nice. Ava was keeping what she considered a deep dark secret but it really seemed rather silly.
Escaping from her wedding, she goes up in the mountains to clear her head. She finds herself near death experience after her truck breaks down during a grueling snow storm. Thinking this is it, she's going to freeze to death. A bearded man comes to the rescue. What unfolds before, during and after the storm is anyone's guess. Read this book to find out.
I love everything by Rachel Hanna. However this book full short. I was hoping it was the same fun narrator from her South Carolina series. This narrator fell flat and unconnected to the book itself. The plot was meh to me.
A cute and cosy read, perfect to snuggle up and get lost in! A lovely narrator to listen along to, I now want to go to a snow covered mountain and hunker down in a cabin!
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much that it seemed way to short and I wanted it to continue.
While I haven't read the other books in the series, I didn't need to in order to read this book and understand what was going on.
A rom-com romance because of a snow storm and small town members accepting another another into their family.
I will for sure go back and read some of the other books in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the arc.
Book 5 in the Jubilee series followings Ava's journey fleeing on her wedding day, getting stranded in a snow storm, losing her dog and being rescued by the perfect man. Rom-com beach read for sure.

This is what I call a cozy romance. We have Ava, who is escaping her current situation and finds herself stranded in a snowstorm. When she gets out to see if she can get any cell reception, her beloved boxer, Molly, makes a mad dash out into the snow.
Ava is beside herself with worry for her dog, but she knows it is too dangerous to go out into the storm. So, she goes back to her car, hoping and praying someone will find her before it is too late.
Jack finds her and gives her shelter, and things are sparking, and it is not a one-way street. Jack offers to help Ava find Molly as soon as it's not dangerous for them to start looking.
Who doesn't love a small-town romance?
This was precisely that, and I am here for it.
The narration was perfect for these two.
Eva is a runaway bride, and she just wants to find her dog!
This is such a rom-com; it has so many Christmas movie vibes.
I absolutely loved the fact that there wasn’t exactly a miscommunication or misunderstanding trope here and that the angsty portion was so short and resolved quickly. LOVED. IT.
I hate when romance books spend chapters and chapters into the angst because I just don’t want to read that! Whenever I (rarely) feel like reading a romance, I already know what I want: sweet, fluffy, candy books. And this was exactly that; for some reason, it is quite difficult to find books like these that satiate my palate, so much, much love to Rachel Hanna.
Eva runs away before marrying her celebrity fiancé, whom she met through a reality show, and she finds herself in Jubilee after getting mad cold-feet; the fact that the fiancé literally showed up with a camera crew and all was hilarious. This whole book helped me get through an early work day.
Short and sweet, nothing more.
A sweet small town romance that features a runaway bride who was on a reality show. Ava just couldn’t go through with the marriage to a man she didn’t love. After her getaway she hops into her red vintage pickup truck with her faithful dog. Not planning where she was going has her in the middle of a snowstorm, trying to get cell service she opens the door and her dog escapes. Freezing she goes back into her truck and tries to get warm, but is running out of gas.
Jack as part of the rescue team he is on, decides to make one more run down the road for anyone who may need help. When he stops at the red truck and sees the woman is listless he helps her to his truck instead of giving her a tow. Taking her back to his cabin to get her warm, he promises her as soon as it is safe they will look for her dog.
A sweet slow romance begins between the two. There are other storylines going on that probably are a continuation from the previous books, but can be read or listened to as a standalone. It did seem in the narration that it was a bit rushed or skipping from one scene to another without a pause. Probably reading would be a little less confusing. I rate it 3.5 🌟.
Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley. #BlueRidgeBreakdown
"To Find one's self, one must lose themselves"
"Blue Ridge Breakdown" by Rachel Hanna tells the story of Ava, a woman who is trying to escape a marriage she never wanted with her beloved dog, Milley. While driving through a snowstorm, Ava hits black ice and spirals out of control. She ends up stranded in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to keep her warm but her furry companion.
Jack, a volunteer rescue worker, comes across Ava's truck while doing his routine rounds. He immediately notices that something is wrong and goes to investigate. When he arrives on the scene, he sees Ava, who looks like she's sleeping, but he quickly realizes that she's in trouble and needs his help.
Throughout the book, the characters' stories intertwine, and their relationship develops into something more. The love story between Ava and Jack is captivating, and readers will find themselves rooting for the couple every step of the way.
While "Blue Ridge Breakdown" is the fourth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel. However, readers who want more background on Jack and the town of Blueridge may want to consider reading the previous books in the series.
A cute, wholesome, Hallmark-like small town romance. Probably not wholly memorable but enjoyable in the moment. There were a lot of characters, so I felt like I was coming into a show in season 3, but had fun either way
Ava and Jack are such an opposites attract couple in "Blue Ridge Breakdown" by Rachel Hanna. I loved listening to this shorter audiobook and the narration was excellent. Ava escapes from her wedding, goes over the mountain to Jubilee and gets stuck in the snow during an intense snowstorm. Her dog runs off on her and she's stuck in her car not knowing if she'll survive. Along comes Jack and as they say...the rest is history.
There is some angst due to Ava's past and a cast of eclectic characters. I really enjoyed this book and recommend this to fans of Rachel Hanna and clean romance books.

Aww this is only my second [author: Rachel Hanna]. The other was [book: Sea Glass Summer].
My reaction to it is the same as this one- “A quick light enjoyable read.”
Ava Monroe is a runaway Bride. She met her fiancé via a reality show only she knows she doesn’t love him and marrying him is a mistake. She decides to escape to Jubilee, Georgia in the Blue Ridge Mountains a place she has only read about. She grabs some clothes and Millie her boxer dog, and takes off in a vintage red truck. Only she did not check the weather and heads into a blizzard. Only the truck slides into a snow bank and she is stranded. Not only that but she opened the truck’s door Millie took off running. ~ Thus the title Blue Ridge breakdown!
Luckily a “Good Samaritan’ comes to her rescue and takes her to his cabin to warm up.
Since her decision making skills aren’t all that great; she does have some fear he might take her back to his cabin and killer her. She decides she is too cold and will have to take her chances. He turns out to be an ex-deputy now a member of a Rescue team who checks the mountains roads for anyone stranded. He not only provides her with a warm place to stay but also volunteers to help look for Mellie in the morning.
There is another story going on in Jubilee with Madeline who runs a bookstore.
This is the eleventh book in the South Carolina Sunsets series. However, it is my first! But It wasn’t difficult connecting with characters.
If you are a romance reader, you know a romance story it is one that gives readers the sense that something is going to get better. This was a sweet story; however, since this is a series, I wasn’t positive if there was going to be a HEA and may have to reads next in the series.
I did enjoy this and I love a good Audiobook my only negative about this is I was a bit disappointed that the narrator was that - a narrator. She really wasn’t performing the characters. I could not distinguish Ava from Madeline. Whereas other times there would be a voice differences in other characters. Hmmm!
I want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select/Rachel Hanna and for this audiobook..
Audiobook Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 16, 2024
If you’re looking for a nice easy read, in a small town setting with mature characters this is the book for you. This was a cute feel good story. The side characters are interesting too.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Rachel Hanna is a favorite author of mine and I love this little Jubilee series.
The books starts out with Ava escaping her wedding in an old truck with her dog Millie. She gets stuck on the side of the road and Millie escapes and she is devastated. She is out of gas and is most likely going to freeze to death on the side of a mountain road. Yes, you all guess it….here comes our hero Jack just in time to rescue her. Jack takes Ava back to his cabin and after a few days Ava thinks she might be able to escape her past or will her fiancé be able to find her.
I love a good little romance and this one hit the spot for me.
Special thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and author Rachel Hanna for advance access to Blue Ridge Breakdown, in exchange for my honest review.
Blue Ridge Breakdown is book 4 in the Jubilee Series. Book 3 is already out, and books 1 and 2 come out April 22, 2024.
Blue Ridge Breakdown is a short, sweet, small town romance. Ava flees her wedding (with her dog) and finds herself stranded in a blizzard. She is rescued by Jack (the lumberjack). While they're waiting out the snow storm, a new relationship is formed. It's not without complications though.
I enjoyed this book and plan to read the remaining books in the series.
Blue Ridge Breakdown by Rachel Hanna was the first book I have read by this author. I am so glad I got the Audiobook of it to listen to on my trip.
Ava Monroe made a huge decision in her life the minute she saw the open window and became a runaway bride! What an adventure this one moment started for her. Little did she know how her life would go when she got stuck in a snowbank during a snowstorm and her dog jumped out of the truck and ran away. At the point she was convinced this was where her life would end a man stopped and saves her.
I don’t want to give a lot away but let me say I loved this book!
I am now hooked on Rachel Hanna books.
Thank you NetGalley, and Rachel Hanna for the audiobook of Blue Ridge Breakdown. This is my personal review.
Rachel Hanna's Blue Ridge Breakdown is a very sweet, wintertime small town romance. I enjoyed the audio version of this book which is nicely performed by Anne Smith.
Ava gets stuck in a snowstorm when her truck fails, and hunky Jack braves the weather to rescue her. There's a nice insta attraction romance between Ava and Jack, and some interesting supporting characters as well.
Ava ran away from her wedding, through a window and in her wedding gown. She had been the selected bride from a reality show. Her intended husband is rich and famous. After her escape, Ava went home grabbed her truck and her beloved dog. She ended up in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains during a massive snow snow.
Her dog escaped into the storm. Ava was rescued by a big, strong, resourceful man. As they weathered the storm, Ava learned what she really wanted in a man. Dog found and relationship grew.
I listened to the audio book. The narrator was very good. This is a story that can be read and enjoyed by most readers.
This sweet romance is a quick, undemanding listen. The snowy setting may be a good antidote to summer heat. The shorter length with multiple perspectives means character development for Ava and Jack is lighter and the story jumps between them and characters who are established in other titles. If you’ve read previous titles you will appreciate the ongoing characters and the broader focus on the people of Jubilee rather than just Ava and Jack. The narrator conveys a small town feel, but gives little differentiation in characters.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a review audiobook. All opinions expressed are my own.
