Thank you to NetGalley, Max Amato and Brendan McAuliffe, and Sourcebooks Kids for this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

If you have a little one who loves dinosaurs, and you want to keep them engaged in a book full of sounds this is the book for you. It is a very fun and educational book about the different types of dinosaurs and the different sounds they would make. There are also the different sounds you would hear around you during that time. The sounds makes it fun for the kids to repeat and helpful for working on speech. Plus there are some facts at the end of the story about the dinosaurs mentioned in the story. The illustrations and colors really pop and make the story come to life in such a fun way. My kids 4 & 8 really enjoyed the story and acting out the sounds.

This was an adorable story about a triceratops finding her voice. The book is chock full of onomatopoeia, and I could see it making a fantastic mentor text for exploring onomatopoeia in the classroom. I could see this being used by a wide variety of ages because of this, especially with the sections at the back describing different dinosaurs and life in the time of dinosaurs.

The pictures are bold and vibrant. I loved the change in color tone as the story went from day to night.

Terri the Triceratops has been navigating his world amidst all of the sounds that he hears in the book Stomp, Soar, Dino Roar. Crack, rustle, scratch, cheep! There are crawling creatures, shaking trees, sputtering volcanoes, and stormy seas. The world is filled with so many sounds.

When Terri makes a sound, what does she sound like?

Dinosaurs all have their own unique sounds.

The noise they make is sometimes not audible.

BONK! There are some dinosaurs who like to play rough.

Tyrannosaurus is HUNGRY and lets everyone know with a loud and boisterous ROAR! Terri is a bit scared, but he may have found his voice.

MEEP! Terri has found his voice. As Tyrannosaurus has spotted him, he is a bit scared! He certainly doesn't want to be his meal!

A cute book that children are sure to love is Stomp, Soar, Dino Roar! Throughout the book, children will enjoy following Terri as he navigates his world and hears the many sounds that surround him. Colorful and engaging illustrations make the book stand out. Children will love the book because it combines an exciting adventure with fun sounds to mimic. The vibrant illustrations and relatable character of Terri the Triceratops will capture their imaginations. Additionally, the book's playful exploration of the prehistoric world provides both entertainment and educational value.

Book Review: Stomp, Soar, Dino Roar by Max Amato & Brendan McAuliffe

Rating: 4 Stars

OMG, I just finished reading Stomp, Soar, Dino Roar by Max Amato and Brendan McAuliffe, and I absolutely loved it! This book is truly a delightful gem for kids (and honestly, for dino-loving adults like me too).

So, let me give you a summary of the story. It follows Terri the Triceratops as she navigates her vibrant world filled with all sorts of intriguing sounds. From the rustles of little critters to the rumblings of distant volcanoes, every page is an auditory adventure. Terri embarks on a journey through the Late Cretaceous Period, and along the way, she encounters new friends and learns how to find her own voice—especially when danger is lurking. It’s such a fun way to explore what life was like for dinosaurs back in the day!

Now, let’s talk about the illustrations. They are simply adorable! The bright colors really pop off the pages, making it feel like you’re right there with Terri as she stomps through her prehistoric playground. And can we take a moment to appreciate the pronunciation guides? They’re such a thoughtful addition that make it easy for kids (and parents!) to sound out those tricky dinosaur names.

One of my favorite parts of the book is the educational fact guide at the end. It provides a treasure trove of information about the dinosaurs and their world. It’s great because it combines fun storytelling with learning—perfect for any small dino lover out there!

Overall, Stomp, Soar, Dino Roar is a charming read that captivates both the imagination and curiosity of young readers. I highly recommend it as a gift for any little dinosaur enthusiast in your life. Trust me, they will adore it just as much as I did! 🦖✨

What a cute book about dinosaurs. I love that it has the pronunciation of the different dinosaurs for people like me that need that extra help!
Little Terri the Triceratops is looking for her sound. Join her as she looks for it and learn what other sounds you come across in the dinosaur era.

This book is a cute story about Terry the triceratops. It has lots of different dinosaurs and fun pictures. As a bonus for the parents, there’s a pronunciation guide under each dinosaur name and additional dino facts at the end! Some of the pictures are a little cluttered which can make it overwhelming for young children and readers.

My 2 year old loves it and has requested to read it multiple times! This is a book that’s great for toddlers up to school age children

I read this.book for free on #NetGalley and immediately showed it to our director who does storytime. I would read this to Toddlers and preschoolers as I love books that have you make noises. I loved the colors and pictures.
I have asked our buyer to purchase it for our library.

It is missing any real depth or meaning, but dino-loving kids will love it. I like the dino facts at the end.

Brilliant book of Dino sounds.

Takes the reader on a journey through a variety of dinosaurs and their sounds. The pictures highlight the dino’s strengths and characteristics especially the sounds they would have made.

Terri the triceratops can’t quite find his voice. Until the end of the book of course, when he needs to scare away a ferocious T-Rex!

Wonderful glossary at the back explaining all the dinosaur statics which we have bet throughout the book.

Thank you to Netgalley and this time for allowing me an advanced copy in exchange for my review.

There is so much to love about this book! First, it's super interactive and you can have lots of fun with it, especially with me four and five year olds. Second, the dinosaur come with guides on how to actually say the names correctly (WIN)! But what I really loved is in this book this little triceratops is trying to find her place and it takes her facing the giant to do so. But you get to watch her move through the journey and it's so fun to watch my kiddos try to make all the dinosaur sounds. Great read!!

Thank you, Sourcebooks Explore, for the ARC.

You will get to learn about different dinosaurs with some of the best action words while reading this book with the kids. The writing is fun and action packed!

The illustrations are bright. However, I feel that it can be much better.

Otherwise it’s a cool book on dinosaurs. Check out the trivia towards the end as well!

A positively fun read- aloud that your little ones will love. Especially the little ones who love dinosaurs. In this fun little book we get to learn about dinosaurs and the fun noises they find along the way as Terri the triceratops goes out to find her sound. We get to join in to see what she finds and hears. We loved this fun book. The illustrations are so fun and perfect for little ones. Bold, bright colors and emphasis on the word sounds are great. I highly recommend this for your little dino fan. It’s also perfect for using in an early childhood classroom. We were so thankful to receive this ebook ARC. Perfect for young ones. Enjoy with your family.

I received an electronic ARC from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley.
Amato brings readers back in time to experience life among dinosaurs. A baby triceratops is born and we see Terri listen to the world around them. We get to experience all of the sounds too. Terri doesn't make a sound as so many others make them just as Terri thinks about it. Finally, Terri shares her sound and chases off the T-rex. Brightly colored illustrations capture the natural world and the wide variety of animals present. I appreciate the pronunciation guides under the dinosaur names and the informative text provided at the end of the story. A fun read for younger readers.

This story following a triceratops through her home, and highlighted all the sounds she hears. I appreciated that it included pronunciation for all the different dinosaur names. The pictures were bright and vivid. But, overall, the plot was lacking.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Kids for an E-ARC in exchange for my, and my son's, honest reviews.

Anything dinosaur-related, my 4 year old is obssessed with, and this book is no different! He's asked for this a handful of times to read at bedtime. I would say this book is good for younger children, like my son, because there aren't too many words, there's a lot of "sound" effects for the reader to make. The artwork is vibrant and dynamic with a lot of movement, which I enjoy in a children's book.

Super cute little dinosaur book! All kids will enjoy reading this, and kids that like dinosaurs will ADORE this book. All of the dinosaurs were super colorful, cute, and accurate. Terri was by far the cutest dinosaur in the entire book, and I loved that she was the main character. As for the story, it was written really well for kids and the ending was totally unexpected - in the best way. Lastly, it was so, so smart for the author to include easy-to-understand pronunciations of the dinosaur names underneath the sentences. This allows kids to properly pronounce the dinosaur names so that they can flex their new fun facts about said dinosaurs properly and effortlessly.
Bravo!

This picture book is the perfect blend of high energy story time rhyme with back matter information to make any caregiver shine in the eyes of a dino loving child. The pronunciation guides along the way keep the story flowingr, but the bright colors and "join in" energy of Terri's adventure keep the reader's focus on the fun.

The simple timeline and details at the end may not be enough for a budding paleontologist, but they are an excellent place to start and this book would make a wonderful addition to either a picture book collection or a non-fiction section intended for newer readers and young adventurers. Thank you to NetGalley for access to this arc!

This is such a fun book for teaching about dinosaurs and onomatopoeia. It’s full of great vocabulary words as well, so repeated readings of this book could lend itself to different lessons. The illustrations are bright and colorful.
