Great book to help open conversations and build up life skills vocabulary with little ones. This is not your typical first words book. Love that this has a little more content to it and can be read with kids at many levels.
Normally, I wouldn't read a Sesame Street book to my grandchildren. Like Disney, I feel like they have become too commercial but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was very thoughtful and entertaining. I could see us reading a word a day and having a discussion after..
The words that are included in this colorful book are divided into three sections. These include You, Your Neighborhood, and Your World. Each of these sections is subdivided; for example the You words center on You Are, You Feel, You Grow, You Play, You Think, and You Dream. The Neighborhood sections has Your Home, Your Community and, Your Neighbors. Finally, the World words center on You Discover, You Act, You Celebrate.
All of the vocabulary in here is designed to inspire thought. For each, there is an illustration. Many of these feature the familiar Sesame Street characters. As an example, one word in the You part of the book is Honest. The word is defined and then there is an example. In this case it features Elmo acknowledging that he broke something. In another, Telly helps to explain what Mindful means.
I think that this is a wonderful book. It can lead to good conversations between an adult and child. I hope this one will make its way to many schools and libraries.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Kids for this title. All opinions are my own.
Not really a book you just sit and read to your children. More like a book they flip through, look at the pictures and read a few bits here and there. I enjoyed the message and all of the different traits and attributes being described. My daughter (2) loved seeing her favorite characters and I think would really enjoy flipping through the pages.
Thank you to Nergalley and Source books for this ARC
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!
Sesame Street is always a huge win in our home. We loved how the book was set up and how vivid all the images are. Any fans of Sesame Street will enjoy seeing their favorite characters. Can't wait for the release to add it to our collection!
A great book to teach words to kids with assistance from a reader. It's full of colorful, fun illustrations that help with understanding what the words might mean and includes all of the characters from "The street". At over 100 pages this book would be a great one to go back to over and over doing bits at a time while still learning words and enjoying the illustrations!
An amazing and outstanding book! Sesame Street does it again and we love it. With characters from Sesame Street we get to discover more than 100 words every little one needs to learn that are meaningful to their growth and development. It is decided into 3 sections: You, Your Neighborhood, and Your World. Each page uses simple illustrations to help us better understand the featured words. It is so fun to see the characters making the words come to life for us. We loved finding our favorite words
Like Unique, Read, Music, Adventure and Heritage. Your family will love finding new words and ideas to love. This is perfect for calm times and bedtime routines. It also works great for early childhood classrooms and homeschool.
We received this ebook ARC from NetGalley and Sourcebooks and we fell in love. We can’t wait for it to be released in October so we can add it to our home library. This is sure to become a family treasure we read over and over again. Enjoy with your family.
1000 stars
There is so much potential in the content, but how it's currently organized isn't for me.
It may just be how my brain organizes info, but the categorization of words baffles me. For example in the "You Are" section, one of the words is "Attitude". Then it goes on to say that "Attitude is how you feel and...", but then there's another section that's "You Feel" which includes words like brave and grouchy (makes sense to me). Next in the "Grow" section, we're off to a good start with "healthy" and "strong". Then we hit "challenge", next plan... Grow healthy, grow strong, grow challenge, grow plan?
Again, this may be a personal hang up. But it stops me from wanting to purchase this book or recommend it to others.
{Thank you bunches to NetGalley, Sesame Workshop, Erin Guendelsberger, and publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!}
I cannot say enough good things about this book. We are already huge fans of the Sesame Street franchise in our house. My husband and I grew up with it; now our daughter is as well. This is such a phenomenal book!! I can't wait until it comes out so we can buy it in hardcover. Learning about social and emotional words in an easy way with photos of our favorite friends is perfect.
This book came in at 114 pages long, seems to long for a children's bedtime story. Might be a good teacher book, but certainly not bedtime. It's a dictionary of sorts, with vocabulary words. I'm afraid small children will get bored with it, I felt myself losing interest at about page 35. It certainly does send some good messages when showing how the word could be used in a sentence. Sometimes words are split in the spread. I think you need to watch how that will play out so you don't have to flip the page to finish the word. It's colorful and has the sesame street gang included in action. Thanks to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for the opportunity to read and review.
This book is so cute and perfect for toddlers! I think the words they chose to define in this book are fantastic for little readers and the illustrations/descriptions they provided were excellent. My 3 year old would love this book as it has great pictures that are attention-grabbing.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
I have loved Sesame Street books since I was a little girl. Now I have a toddler of my own to read them to. This book had phenomenal illustrations and went far past my expectations! My toddler enjoyed looking at the pictures and learning new things as well. Most definitely will be buying to add to our home library.
What a cute children’s book!! My youngest son loves Sesame Street and the illustrations were phenomenal. I truly loved how the book gives a quick index of each of the 100 words discussed within the book.
It is such a positive children’s word box and excellent learning / growing for little minds.
If you have a child who loves Sesame Street, be sure to grab this one in October 2024. I have a feeling my little one will make me read this to him atleast ten more times today!
Thank you Netgalley, Erin G. and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for allowing my children and I to read an advanced copy in exchange for our honest review.
Sesame Street books are always so wonderful and this one does not disappoint. This book of words is divided into three sections - You, Your Community and Your World. Our favorite characters teach us words like diversity, courage, empathy and curiosity. It's not surprising that the creators of Sesame Street are continuing their mission to create better humans and I absolutely love them for it. Oh, and I love that Super Grover made it into the book...he never gets enough attention anymore!!
100 Words from the Street is a very cute book with a thoughtful selection of words and colorful illustrations. I like that the words had easy to understand definitions and were used in sentences appropriately. The illustrations also matched the words on the page.
This book was far more detailed than I thought it would be! Each of the 100 words had a child friendly description, and an example of that word in a sentence featuring one of the Sesame Street characters. Delightful and engaging.
Fun read for me and my toddler!
We’re learning letters and he enjoyed the words and Elmo theme.
Definitely buying. Thank you!

Here, we are huge fans of everything Sesame Street, and this did not let us down. We found this was a really enjoyable book to study because of its vivid colors and endearing characters. This would also be a fantastic resource for younger children who are homeschooled!
The Sesame Street: 100 Words From The Street is to everyone young and old who grew up with Sesame Street. The Table of Contents is broken down to:
YOU
You Are
You Feel
You Grow
You Play
To play is to learn while you have fun. You can play with toys, with friends, or all by yourself!
To read is to look at words and pictures and understand what they mean. Some people use their fingertips to read. Ji-Young and her friend read a book about pirates.
You Think
You Dream
YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Your Home
Your Community
Your Neighbors
Compassion is feeling care and concern for someone else and trying to help them.
George showed compassion when he made a yummy soup for Cookie Monster when he was feeling sick.
YOUR WORLD
You Discover
You can observe the world around you by using your senses with the goal of getting a better understanding.
Big Bird observed the other birds on Sesame Street and noticed how they were similar and different.
You Act
You Celebrate
In the book, there is an index that allows you to look up all 100 words discussed. Children develop caring and empathetic characteristics in part through words like these. I believe this is a great book for explaining those words in simple terms. With simple definitions and relatable examples, they will be able to apply these values in a realistic way.
