This book was very fast-paced and jam-packed with twists and turns,
I absolutely did not see that ending coming at all.
I always enjoy Danial Hurst's books, they're such good and easy twisty reads and this was no different.
I did feel like the whole thing was very unrealistic, which is fine since it's just a thriller book haha but i did find myself having to take a moment at the end because it had started getting unbelievable.
I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did, at the beginning it was full of suspense and that twist!!! Another great book by Daniel Hurst.
I have previously read books by this author, and loved them. I knew I wouldnt be disappointed. I couldnt put this one down. The twists and turns were incredible.
Once again Daniel Hurst has hit me with twists and drama ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
What has happened to the Conway’s? How can a whole Family go missing? Only Shannon O’Shea knows the answer to that!!
Donovan, Rosalind and Barnaby go missing whilst on holiday and Shannon, their exclusive tour guide knows exactly what has happened…… Daniel Hurst at his finest.
This book was excellent! It was a page turner and had me on the edge of my seat! My kindle said I had 30 minutes left so when I read the end my jaw dropped because I thought I had more. So so good! I will recommend to all my friends! Thank you!
THE FAMILY TRIP was a quick read with a really interesting premise that promised intrigue and mystery. Many compelling questions were presented early on, which promised a ton of twists as the story continued. However, the twists didn’t materialize as the reveals were predictable and fell flat. The pacing was off towards the end and it was obvious what was going to happen, which was disappointing.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review THE FAMILY TRIP.
The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst published on May 31st 2024 by bookouture. Daniel Hurst is one of my absolute favorite authors and I am so glad I got the chance to read this book as well as all of his other ones.
Shannon is a tour guide who thinks she has found the answer to her financial troubles when she is hired by an American Couple to show them around Ireland. When they arrive, Shannon is shocked to see they brought their son and nanny but quickly jumps into action to change accommodations and activities. Little does she know that this is only the beginning.
This was such a fast paced read that had me guessing the whole time while reading. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thriller and have no idea what is going on and then bam it wasn’t what you even thought in the beginning. I can’t wait for him to come out with more books.
Daniel Hurst’s books always grip me immediately and The Family Trip was no exception. Shannon is desperate for money when a dream job is dropped into her lap. She is requested to be a tour guide in her native country Ireland by a wealthy family. This job is the answer to her money problems. What could possibly go wrong? This fast-paced thriller is original, entertaining, and full of twists I never saw coming. This book could easily be devoured in one sitting. I was hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend this page-turner! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.
Have always loved Daniels books and this one did not disappoint.
Sian is struggling for money as a tour guide in Ireland but a too good to be true offer lands at her feet. An American family have hand picked her to be their tour guide for their trip to Ireland, with a very large pay check attached. Discussions are had before the trip and all appears set. However once the family arrive in Ireland it becomes extremely clear this is not going to be easy.....a very demanding, rude wife, a mellow husband, an energetic 8 year old, and a nanny who really does not speak.
It soon becomes clear that there are ulterior motives at work and lives soon become in danger.
A fast paced, easy to read book with twists, and characters you really didn't like. Highly recommend a read.
This book follows two POV's - Shannon's who is a tour guide from Ireland (where the book is based) and Rosalind an American tourist, with a secret to hid. This book is full of twists and turns, some twists were predictable but overall, this did not take away from the book and I very much enjoyed it. The storyline was a little far fetched and chaotic, but appreciate the author was trying to keep it fast paced and interesting. The characters had good depth to them, I immediately took a dislike to Rosalind and Donovan - they were a stereotypical entitled couple. Would recommend, and I will be reading more from Daniel Hurst.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
It was kind of a predictable book, but it held my interest.

This book is gripping, shocking, mindblowing! One of the best psychological thrillers by Daniel Hurst. Just when you think the book is completed, the author puts a sneaky twist in there that messes with your mind. My heart really went out to Shannon. Is the end actually the start of a sequel? Really hope so, so that Shannon can also finally find her son.
My favourite author does it again! Excellent characters, fantastic plot line and twist after twist that I didn’t see coming! Daniel has me gripped from page one every time and this book is no different!
Received via NetGalley. Fine story. Slightly predictable. Liked the final two (2) twists.. I would read future novels by this author.

📚MY REVIEW:
First of all, I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for gifting me this advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. The opinions are solely my own.
This book was well-written and had a fast-paced vibe throughout. The chapters were told from the perspectives of two female main characters, and the juxtaposition of their perspectives was intriguing as I read both sides of the story. There was great foreshadowing and an intense sense of suspense, both of which really kept my interest as I read. The book itself was an overall good psychological thriller.
With all of that said, this book was not for me. Because I'm not willing to give spoilers, I can't necessarily fully share why this book wasn't for me. What I can say, however, is that there was a storyline - eventually revealed throughout the book - that felt exploitative to me. I have been a social worker who has worked in the field of child welfare for much of my career. From that lens, it felt to me that the storyline in this book took fears that are so unfairly focused on by the media - and which I've personally witnessed become such traumatic struggles to many loving families - and really took them way too far. To an extreme that just perpetuated fears which don't really need to be perpetuated -- the fears are real enough for these families.
The worst part is that I can't give a trigger warning without revealing a significant part of the storyline that isn't revealed till pretty far into the book. And the synopsis is no help.
I realize not every book is for every person. I also realize this book struck a very personal chord for me and impacted me in ways that many readers won't relate to. That's okay! As I said at the start of my review, there are a lot of great aspects to this book & I truly think fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this thrilling read!

Haven’t read any books by this author, so I didn’t know what to expect. Plot was a bit far fetched. Shannon should have trusted her gut and realised all wasn’t what it seemed with Donovan and Rosalind, but the prospect of that amount of money definitely clouded her judgement. The ending was very good, not what I expected.
Another cracking read by Daniel Hurst. So hard to put it down once you start, grips you from the first page.
Wow!! What an amazing psychological thriller. This is what you call a page turner, I couldn’t put it down. I loved everything about this book with the brilliant twists and turns and the fabulous unexpected ending. The characters were great, the story itself was so suspenseful it keeps you on the edge of your seat and the style of writing was perfect.
All the books that I have read by this author have been brilliant.. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
I would highly recommend this book and its author to anyone who likes to read this genre.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
I love Daniel Hurst and absolutely LOVED his Doctor series. His books are fast-paced and filled with twists and turns. While I normally give his books 5 stars, this book hit on a topic (adoption) that was a bit to personal to me, which made me enjoy the story a bit less. However, he is an excellent writer and storyteller and I will continue to read other books he writes. Keep writing! I am always recommending them on goodreads and facebook!
The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst
Daniel Hurst never disappoints his readers. The Family Trip is another addictive book by him.
I literally was hooked from the beginning. I love how the author cleverly moving between the POVs. From the beginning, he talked about the dull life of the tour guide Shannon. Then it moved to the motivation for Shanon to take the private tour guide job. Later, it told you why the couple had to spend lots of money to hire Shannon as the private tour guide.
Once you thought you knew it, it’s a trap. There’s another twist.
I truly enjoy Daniel’s writing! I can’t wait to read his next book.
Many thanks to NetGalley, bookouture and the author for my copy.
