Overall I enjoyed this story a lot. I wish we got more at the end. I didn’t see the twist at the end coming that’s why it got the rating it did. Up until the twist I would have rated the book 3.5, it just didn’t have much excitement. I would still recommend the book, as the ending did surprise me.

The Family Trip had me hooked from page one. While the story was intriguing, I felt I knew the premise early on, but I kept on due to the authors writing style. The story telling still made for a fun weekend read. I had mixed feelings on the likability of some of the characters, but was satisfied with the ending.

Donovan and Rosalind are a wealthy couple on holiday overseas with their son and his nanny. Money is no object and they spare no expense, including hiring a private tour guide to show them around the countryside. What looks like a family trip is not what is seems to be. What are their real intentions and what secrets are they hiding?

Daniel Hurst is an incredible author. This is the second book I’ve read by him and it’s a thrilling, gripping story. Had me on the edge of my seat and the twist at the end was incredible. However I found the main character really irritating haha! Highly recommend!

Once you start reading this, clear your schedule because you won't want to do anything else but read to the end!

From the very beginning, The Family Trip is a fast paced captivating read. The character development was surreal, I was so angry at some of these characters, I was seething! The book has two POV's. Shannon lives in Ireland where she is a tour guide. Rosalind is a wealthy mother from America who contacts Shannon to be their private tour guide when they head to Ireland. Rosalind did not contact Shannon out of the blue, she has a plan and it is to destroy Shannon. How are these two connected? Read on and you shall find out!

From the beginning, Rosalind is a piece of work. She will get your blood pressure up and you will wish you could give her an attitude adjustment. Shannon believes she is giving a private off the beaten path tour for Rosalind and her husband Donavan but when she meets them, they have their 7 (or is he 8?!) year old son and nanny in tow with them. This is the beginning of all the red flags which start to pop up faster than I can keep up with!

I binge read this over the course of an afternoon. Weekend chores had to wait, this was a ride I was on until the end! And the end did not disappoint, just while everything started coming together, a twist comes out from nowhere and had me stop to blink and digest. Did that really just happen? Yeah, it did.

Great job Daniel Hurst. Loved it. Thank you SO much to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced digital readers copy to review.

An easy 5 star quick read!

I devoured this book in one sitting. Daniel Hurst is one of my favourite authors and I’ve read all of his books. This is definitely my favourite one so far.
It’s the perfect domestic thriller with plenty of twists throughout and intriguing characters.
It’s definitely a big fat 5 star read.

Daniel Hurst has quickly become one of my favourite authors and this new release does not disappoint. I really can picture this as a drama on tv around a family holiday to island but the couple booking the tour actually have much darker plans as their children’s lives may be at stake. I won’t spoil this but it’s a great read which would be perfect by the pool in the summer with a cocktail in hand.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. I will read every one of Daniel Hurst's books!! He has a way of drawing you in, and he describes each character so well, you feel like you know them. I felt like I was in the room, watching what was happening! Lots of twists and the ending was soo good! Did not see it coming. Five stars, wish I could give it more.

Daniel Hurst does it again!! From the many twists and turns in this book to the endless unlovable characters, I was hooked from the beginning!

All of his books are complete page turners and this one is no different! How far would you go to keep your child with you forever? Well this couple has a devious plan. One that will keep you relentlessly turning the pages!

This book was absolutely amazing. The beginning pulled me right in, and I couldn't put it down. The anxiety I felt reading through some of the situations described was palpable. This is for sure one of the best reads I've read! You will enjoy twist after twist in this psychological thriller,
The writing is so smooth, and easy to follow, descriptions are at a perfect level (not TOO descriptive or not descriptive enough) and the characters are well built.
I highly suggest giving this book a go!
It's a five out of five stars from me !

4,5 stars!

This was my first Daniel Hurst book and definitely not my last.

A family traveling from America goes missing while on a trip to Ireland. We get Dual POV in this book. The wife of the family who came to Ireland on a family vacation, and the travel guide they sought out to give them a private tour of the country.

Such a fun, fast paced thriller that will keep you guessing and unable to put down. I absolutely flew through this book. I would recommend for fans of Freida McFadden and Kiersten Modglin.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for my advanced copy!

A great read! Although I guessed one of the twists, I was so engrossed in the story and the character's motivations. I really enjoyed the Ireland setting and loved the last couple of twists!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Once I had read my first book by Daniel Hurst, I knew it. He just had to be added to my list of favorite authors. So I did and he is there to stay!

First I want to say I love the cover. It gives me vertigo looking at it. :)

At the beginning of the book, you meet the characters and they all seem very normal people like there a thirteen to a dozen. Rest assured though that is always someone who is hiding his true nature.

People can have the strangest reasons for wanting to murder someone. It can be jealousy, revenge,... In this book the goal behind the killing is pretty deranged, very effective without a doubt. ;)

As per usual, the author treats us to a few twists, which makes you gasp, because you could not have imagined this outcome.

Some people are ruthless. They think the world belongs to them and if things initially don't go the way they want them to, they just take all the obstacles out one by one.

Very enjoyable. 5 stars

Thank you

Hurst certainly outdid himself with this one! I loved the Doctor series, but I think The Family Trip just earned itself the top spot on my favorites list. This was a compelling, non-stop thrill ride that I couldn't put down. Just as I thought I had it all figured out and the intensity of emotions that I felt started to reach a calm level, everything up and changed. I certainly did not expect the book to go in the direction that it did. I can always count on Hurst to deliver an exciting story with a cast of psycho characters that you can't help but be captivated by them. I've seen in other reviews that he is considered to be the male version of Freida McFadden and I couldn't agree more. This book was fun and crazy, and I highly recommend it! Can't wait to read what he comes out with next!

Thank you to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley for granting me digital access in exchange for my honest review!

In probably his twistiest read yet, THE FAMILY TRIP features Rosalind and Donovan, who plan a family trip to Ireland under the guise of spending more time their young son and recapturing the spark in their marriage.

It's all a lie. They've come to Ireland to hunt down one last loose end to protect their family.

Shannon is treading water as a tour guide. She loves Ireland and could show visitors all kinds of stunning sights, but she's limited by what the company will allow her to do. Worse, her boss keeps most of her booking fees, so she's barely getting by. When a mysterious email asks for her to be an off-the-books personal guide for a wealthy American family for an exorbitant fee, she hesitates, fearing that she will lose her job is she is found out. However, she ultimately agrees, and Shannon will soon find out that when something seems to be too good to be true, it usually is.

The characters in this book were all so compelling, even though some were absolutely vile. I wasn't ready for the huge plot twist, and when it hit, I thought it was utterly brilliant. The only thing keeping this book from a five star rating is I wanted a little more from the ending. Despite that, this was an utterly bingeable read that commanded my attention. Thank you to Bookouture for the early read. This title will publish May 31, 2024.
