I was eager to read this new release by Daniel Hurst after having enjoyed his previous work. His writing style never fails to grab me from the beginning, providing drama and suspense with storylines filled with twists and shocking conclusions.
‘The Family Trip’ unfortunately did not have the wow factor that previous reads have had. The storyline was too predictable for my preferences, and the characters were not as relatable as some others he has created.
However, despite this, I did enjoy the narration of the audio book, as it fitted the story flawlessly. I would definitely listen to more by this reader and I look forward to future works by this author.

Here is an author that never disappoint and when his latest book came out I had to clear my day to open my kindle and read it. WoW!!!!!The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst was another superb book from start to finish. It is full of brilliant twists and turns that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.......Plus, I did not want it to finish - it was sooooo good!
The Family Trip was so addictive.........a great holiday read sitting by the pool relaxing.
I highly recommend all of Daniel's books.
Big thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of The Family Trip.
The Family Trip is full of twists and turns that I have come to expect from Hurst. It is a bit unrealistic for sure, but I was here for it.
Shannon is a tour guide and receives an offer of a private tour for loads of money. The Americans requesting the tour have their own agenda and it's not a small one.
Tension filled and drama filled. Great characters that were developed well. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Shannon but really she should have known the offer was too good to be true.
I loved the surprise near the end.
Another great one from Daniel Hurst!
Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

✨ Unexpected ending
✨ Ireland based
✨ one of the book from Daniel that I actually love the most!
✨ story comes into 2 pov, from shannon side, the tour guide from Ireland and Rosalind. Oh and one unexpected pov at the end.
✨ if you love same theme as freida McFadden this is actually quite close to home but Daniel’s writing here is actually impressive from the last book he did.
✨ the family from America wanted to have a lavish holiday in the lands of Ireland. Rosalind reach out to Shannon to have a private tour all around.
But little to know of Shannon, the couple has a plan for her something brutal.
They brought there kid barnaby and philippa the babysitter.
✨ the story was definitely worth to read.
a lot of questionable scenarios and also not as expected ending which is great.
✨ Thankyou bookouture for the arc copy of this book for a honest review.

Another 5 star read from Daniel Hurst. A good, very original storyline with amazing twists. Can't wait for more by this author.
Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
'The Family Trip' was brimming with twists and turns; despite its far-fetched plot amidst the chaos, I absolutely adored it. Its fast pace had me turning the pages at lightning speed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
Wow! 😮 What a trip literally and figuratively! This was such a great read! The twists and turns! Let’s mention the trap too! My goodness and the main character Shannon didn’t even see it coming! From page one I was hooked! This is a quick read thriller. It was a page turner for sure. When a plot twist came I was like wait what. At the end I knew where it was going but that was to be expected at that point in the book to wrap it up. However, there was one more surprise at the end!
Quick Summary: Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland. One day she receives a personalized email requesting her tour services from an American couple. Little does Shannon know the American couple has a secret they are hiding.
This book was so far fetched I felt like I was reading a lifetime movie and could picture the cheesy acting as I read it. It had a few twists but they were so unbelievable and not jaw dropping. It was a fast paced thriller that was easy to get through.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for the advanced copy in exchange for my review.
This is the second book I’ve read from this author. This author is great for a quick, fast paced thriller with a couple of twists.
This story was so far fetched it was hard to really take it seriously. The entire plot was so highly unlikely to ever occur and was just incredibly unbelievable. If you can accept that, it was a good read.
The characters were alright. Rosalind and Donovan were awful, hated them immensely. They were your typical stuck up, arrogant, and entitled wealthy couple. Shannon was average, nothing wonderful about her but she wasn’t terrible. She’s your typical poor adult trying to make it in the world. Burnaby was allegedly 7-8 but the way he spoke and acted, made him seem like he was 4. Just very childish and didn’t act like an 8 year old. None of the characters were really overly developed. We hardly got any information on Shannon’s history until near the end.
I’ve found with two books I’ve read from this author, is that he tries to cram too many plot lines into one book without giving any of them the attention they deserve. There’s no real development into these storylines. The idea is there and they’re good, but there’s just not a lot of emphasis. If he cut the filler and really focused on one main plot line, this author would be writing 5 star thrillers, easily. For example, if he cut the hide and seek, and really narrowed in on the motive, it would be on incredible book.
The one liner on the cover makes this book sound like a little boy goes missing while on vacation. It’s a misleading description. No one is really “missing” unless you consider the child put up for adoption as ‘missing’. Regardless, it doesn’t really depict what the book is even about.
I’d give this book 3 stars for it being a fast paced, easy to read thriller with some twists. It lacked a solid, well developed plot line to bring this book from average to fantastic. If this book was more believable with events and outcomes that were more likely to happen it would be a 4 star. This author has huge potential to be a 5 star author. He’s got incredible ideas that aren’t developed to full potential. I will read more from this author for sure.
The Conways hire Shannon to be their tour guide for a family trip to Ireland, but it goes wrong when eight-year-old Barnaby goes missing. The twists and turns in this book were crazy, and I could not put it down. I wasn't even close to guessing the ending. Highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
When things just seem too good to be true……Ohhhh, Shannon should’ve listened to her gut instinct. This seemed a little darker than most Daniel Hurst books but I couldn’t put it down. Typical Daniel Hurst style, the short chapters read quickly and bounce between 2 characters’ POV. I liked it!
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to read and very guiltily enjoy this ARC.
This book turned out to be so different from what I had expected. From the off it is obvious that there is something off about the American couple and were it not for Barnaby's sweet nature I don't believe Shannon would have continued no matter how much money was up for grabs. The story, while not the most exciting I have read did have some tense moments and a very big shock so it is well worth a read. The author added a clever little epilogue that leaves the potential for a sequel open, hopefully he will write one soon.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
Shannon is in debt, and although she likes her job, she dislikes her boss. But when an opportunity arises, where she has been requested by the Conway’s to give them a week’s tour of Ireland for a lot of money, which could solve her problems. she can’t refuse.
But soon things aren’t as they seem and it could be all too good to be true.
Hurst gives us another fast-paced novel, told from a dual point of view that you won’t be able to put down.
I was so intrigued by these character’s I flew through this novel and I loved the twist at the end, I didn’t see it coming.
This author never disappoints and I highly recommend them to anyone.
I quite enjoyed this one got through it quite quickly as I was eager to know why they were targeting Shannon with a little twist at the end to finish it off nicely
Daniel Hurst is the king of popcorn thrillers. His books play like a movie in my head and I always pick up the next one he writes.
This one is fast paced and twisty. Unlikable characters that I liked to root against. The beautiful backdrop of Ireland is the setting. If you are a stickler for your reads to be 100% likely to happen, then this book might not be for you. But if you just like to sit back and let the story take you on a journey and entertain you, you need this book. I read it in a day and did not want to put it down. I did not see that twist coming, which is my favorite type of twist.
I’d say don’t read too much about this one before you start as I find it a little hard to write about a twisty thriller while avoiding spoilers. There is dual narration, the American wife and the Irish tour guide. One good and one bad guy if you believe the setup. Of course I never believe anyone to be reliable in a thriller, so I’ll let you judge which one is which.
And that epilogue might just be hinting at a sequel.
A quick summer read that is the perfect escape. A family vacation where the family disappears.
In The Family Trip, Hurst weaves a complex tale filled with lies and deceit. It keeps the reader in suspense, while amping up the tension and has one guessing for the majority of the story. Dark and Mysterious, The Family Trip will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers.
If something seems too good to be true you can bet your bottom dollar it is. Shannon O'Shea will discover the harsh truth behind this statement.
As a tour guide Shannon desires to take her clients to popular and unique places in Ireland. However, business policy prevents her from satisfying this desire. Broke and mired in debt starting her own tour guide business was not feasible at this time. So, she had no choice but to continue working for a boss who has no regard for his employees and who pockets all the profits. So, imagine her delight when a billionaire couple (The Conway's) contacted her requesting her services as a tour guide. The offer of 20000 would solve her financial problems but was this for real or was it a scam were the questions racing through her mind. Despite her reservations she accepts the offer, but she will learn that not every is necessarily a good one.
The Family Trip pulled me in from the first page. Throughout the story, several questions arose, the main on being the reason the Conway's hired Shannon. I had my suspicions, but unfortunately, they were all wrong. The reason for the Conway's making contact with Shannon shocked this reader to the core. From the outset it was clear they weren't likeable characters, but to execute such plan was downright diabolical.
Shannon made some not so smart decisions in her dealings with the Conway's. Decisions, which added more chaos to an already tense situation. The story delivered several twists with the major one occurring near the end. That one left me gob smacked.
Overall, I found The Family Trip entertaining and suspenseful. This story will engage you with its twists and keeps you guessing.
The family trip was a whole trip for the reader! A fun thriller perfect for your vacation read.
A seemingly loving couple plans a trip to Ireland! But is there more to this vacation than meets the eye? This couple will do what ever it takes to keep the skeletons in their closet buried for good. But will their dedication to their own desires cause their son to get caught in the crosshairs?
Their clueless tour guide does her best to meet the family’s accommodations. Even when some request seem like life or death.
This was a fun little read. If you’re looking for a nice pallet cleanser or easy beach read this is for you!

This book pulled me in right from the start, and it didn't let me go until the very end. I love Daniel Hurst's writing, and this book did not disappoint. This story develops from dual POVs, and the entire time, I was gripped by the details and intrigued about how this would all come together in the end.
Full of drama, lies, deceit, and manipulation, the plot develops at a rapid pace. I finished this in one sitting, needing to know what was going to happen. In true Daniel Hurst fashion, he kept me engrossed in the storyline, frustrated with the characters, and pleased with the journey. This author is known for unexpected twists and turns. Even though there were a few I guessed, the unexpected ones were plentiful throughout this book. Right up until the end, I found myself shocked at what was being uncovered.
I loved that the setting was in Ireland, and I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the scenery woven throughout the book. I always appreciate his short chapters, and the fact that each chapter ends with a cliffhanger that makes you feel you have to keep going. I really enjoyed this one.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Family Trip is another completely gripping & addictive psychological thriller from one of my go-to authors, Daniel Hurst,
It’s a twisted novel full of twists and turns until the end.
Thank you, Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, & netgalley for my early copy! All opinions are my own.
What a great story with a crazy couple who aren’t above murder and an unsuspecting person though the twists in this one are so good that I am still thinking about them and what happened here.
