I really wanted to enjoy this one more. The synopsis had me really interested, but about halfway through I realised the book is not as described in the blurb...
It took me until I reached 60% of the way through the book to actually get more than slightly interested. This is where the majority of the plot develops and makes for an easier read. Daniel Hurst definitely did a good job of coming up with some last minute twists!
Overall, it was well written and enjoyable.

I binged this book in two days and this was the first stand alone book I have read by the author as I loved the doctors series. This is a quick fast paced read and was filled with numerous twists up until the end and loved it was set in Ireland! Would highly recommend if your looking for a quick thriller read and would be a perfect holiday read. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this ebook.

WOW The Family Trip a psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst just blew me away.

Rosalind and Donovan Conway are living the dream in America and have a son Barnaby and a daughter Esme. This couple are not all they seem as they embark on their own private plane across to Ireland where they put their devious and vengeful plan into place.

The Conways engage Shannon a tour operator in Ireland to show them the sights but on a privately booked tour which includes thier son Barnaby and his Nanny Philippa.

Shannon has debts and when offered $20,000 for showing the Conways around Dublin she takes time off from her tour operator job to privately take the Conway's very generous offer.

Both Shannon and the Conways have secrets that will rise to the surface as the tour continues.

This is a fast paced psychological thriller that is so gripping and makes your heart miss a beat as the secrets unfold and there is a twist that I was not expecting at the end.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was invested right off the bat, the first page had me wanting to read more. The Family Trip is fast-paced and has several twists and turns throughout. Shannon is an Irish tour guide barely scraping by; she receives an email from a rich family from Boston (the Conways) who are looking for a private tour of the greatest parts of Ireland. Once she sees how much she is being offered she cannot refuse and agrees to give them a private tour. What Shannon is unaware of is the ulterior motive the Conway family has for why they want a private tour.

I enjoyed how the chapters jumped between Shannon and Rosalind Conways POV’s - I very much liked trying to guess why the Conways were targeting Shannon. Once we got the reveal, it was something I was not expecting. See, the Conways are liars so it’s hard to distinguish what we should believe, and what we cannot.

This will be released May 31, 2024 - I highly recommend it if you enjoy addicting, twisty books.

A seemingly innocent quick cash making guide tour job for Shannon appears nothing but ideal, the rich American family who are coming to Dublin have requested her specially after reading reviews of her wonderful tours online

But this is Daniel Hurst and so nothing is as seems at first and soon Shannon regrets her decision as the couple turn out to be vile, rude and obnoxious, and it almost feels personal

Because it is

The story moves quickly and we are soon in a race against time and Shannon more than wishes she had said no to the seemingly cushy job

Typical of the author it is a fast paced, anything can and does happen story with twists and carryings on a plenty, probably my favourite by the author this year!

I enjoyed the descriptions of Dublin and surrounding areas and learnt a bit more about the City/Country

Despicable characters with a good plot made this a must read

Shannon O'shea works as a travel agent in Ireland and is barely making ends meet. She dislikes her current job and dreams of showing people the "real" Ireland, parts that are rarely seen and appreciated. When a wealthy American couple want to privately hire her to do just that, as well as paying her a very sizable sum, she is ecstatic. Little does she know that this couple is not all that they seem.
This story started off interesting, I kept wondering what unexpected twist was coming. When I finally got to it, I found it pretty preposterous. It just kept getting more and more unbelievable and I ended up a bit disappointed. I've enjoyed other books by this author, but this was a flop for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really really wanted to love this book. I have heard nothing but great things about Daniel Hursts books and this was my first one. However, it really kind of fell flat for me. I think the characters were great, I really liked Shannon and the Conway’s were completely awful - in a good way. I felt like the twists were predictable and on the unrealistic side. I also found myself skimming past the thoughts and getting the dialogue. I do seem to the minority in this thinking, I am definitely going to be reading more by this author and giving it another go. Thank you for giving me the chance to read this book.

Another great read by Daniel, a twisty turny storyline with strong characters, don't think I've read a bad one of his yet, took me around 10 hours to read, a perfect read for a sunny afternoon in the garden

Daniel Hurst is one of my go to authors and yet again he doesn’t disappoint with his latest novel ‘The Family trip’.
Donovan and Rosalind are a wealthy American couple with two children and a nanny. They are planning a trip to Ireland and want to book a tour guide for their travels so they can get the real Ireland experience.
Shannon is a tour guide, and she loves her job, but she can only get to the most popular places under the company guidelines and her boss takes all the profits. She wants to branch out on her own and take people to remote and unique places. But she is broke and in debt. So, when she is contacted by Rosalind and Donovan who overs her a substantial amount of money that will get rid of some of her debts she owes. She can’t wait to take the chance to make some extra money. But wonders how they found out about her. No all as it seems and Shannon will soon find out the real couple’s agenda.
Mr Hurst has done it again with ‘The family Trip’ This is another unputdownable read. It’s a great twisty thriller with another ending that you didn’t see coming. 5 stars.

I have read and enjoyed many of Daniel's books and this was no exception. A fairly short book that was excellent and kept me gripped from the first page. I certainly wasn't expecting the ending, what a twist! I highly recommend this book and author.

Daniel hurst never disappoints. This fast past pov story had me gripped from page 1. Its full of secrets ,twists and turns. The characters are well developed. For me the burb was the ultimate twist as it didnt feel true to the story. I loved the way the story was revealed and although i did ultimately gueese the true identity of the nanny. The actioned packed second half and final reveal was worth the wait. Relatively short read. Could see a possibility of a sequel. The dialogue between the characters within the pov really help me understand the characters more.
I can see the burb is a deliberate red herring. The actual plot seemed quite real to me although ott but reflective of the characters.
Highly recommended this 5 star read. Thanks netgallery and publisher and author

So good I read it in one day! I really enjoyed the style and writing of the author, it kept me wanting to read it to the end and I didn’t get bored.
I did predict the initial twist early on, but certainly not the ending which was clever as I suspect others will have done the same.
The story is gripping and I had a good image of the characters and their personalities
I will certainly be reading the author’s other books!

I received an advance copy of The Family Trip from NetGalley! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review.

Daniel Hurst is easily one of my current favorite authors, and The Family Trip didn’t disappoint. It was fast paced, gripping and satisfying. We bounced between the perspective of Shannon, a young tour guide and Rosalind, the rich woman who has hired her.

I always love getting to see into the different perspectives to get a feel for both sides of the story. Rosalind was completely devious and hard to like from the get go where as Shannon seemed sweet and clueless. The development of both characters was well written and quite the interesting read.

It was easy to see where the plot was going, but not in an overdone or stereotypical way. I really enjoyed this book.

OMG, what an exciting story with plenty of surprises! Shannon O'Shea is a tour guide who is not happy with her current job. She gets an e-mail from a very wealthy American couple, Rosaling and Donovan Conway, who have planned a vacation to Ireland and they would like to have Shannon as their personal tour guide while there are there. The pay is more than Shannon can turn down so she accepts the job offer. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. Daniel Hurst is one of my favorite authors who always comes through with an exciting thriller.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this thrilling book.

I’ve read quite a few Daniel Hurst books now and they certainly never disappoint. This book was fast paced, easy to read and I couldn’t put it down.

Shannon O’Shea is a tour guide in Dublin and one day she gets the offer of a lifetime - a huge amount of money offered to do a private tour for an American couple. Shannon can’t pass up the opportunity of that much money so she agrees to do the tour without telling her boss at the tour guide agency.

Donovan and Rosalind are the American couple that engage Shannon to be their private tour guide. They are wealthy and the money they offer Shannon is not a great deal to them. They don’t just want Shannon as she’s reputed to be a great tour guide - they have hand picked Shannon because of who she is and the reasons for this unfold as the book progresses.

A fab book that keeps you reading as you need to find out what happened.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst

Okay I’m not going to fib….. Daniel Hurst is an instant hit for me especially with the last few books I have read! Wow just wow!

This one was no different! This book captures you in the first part and holds you until you are sitting there with your jaw open saying “No Way!!!!!”

Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland that is barely making ends meet with her current position. She loves what she does but is still having trouble, so when she gets a too good to be true offer to take a family on a private guided trip around Ireland for a hefty amount of money. She can’t pass it up!

Rosalinda is a trip, she has a prefect marriage and is booking a family trip to Ireland. But when the trip arrives she is unhappy and edgy with every recommendation that Shannon has.

The underlying issue with this couple is just baffling and shocking. This book was insane and amazing! I loved it!

Such a great read!

Ms O'Shea is your typical girl from Ireland. She has dreams of running her own tour company, but lacks the capital to get her started. Then she gets the offer of a lifetime from an American couple: to show them all the best, unknown, sites of Ireland. They will pay her $20,000 for her time. How could she refuse? But as the saying goes, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. She doesn't realize this couple has a very sinister plan in store for her.

From the beginning, the book starts off with a bang! It gives just enough details to keep the reader intrigued. The more I read, I pretty much figured out the twist, however, it twists again, and I guarantee it will leave you saying What!? I read the last 30% in one day, as I didn't want to stop reading. I wanted to find out what happened next.

The few grammatical errors did not take away from the story. It was otherwise, well written. This was my first Daniel Hurst book, and I wasn't disappointed. I would recommend this book and I will even look into more of his books for future reading.
