Shannon is an Irish tour guide, dutifully taking tourists to the most touristy parts of Dublin. She would love to branch out and show people the REAL Ireland, but she has to abide by the terms of her employer until she can afford to launch her own company, so she’s stuck showing pubs and castles.

One day, she gets an email. The Conway Family - Donovan, Rosalind and their son, Barnaby, are coming to Ireland from Boston. They don’t want the typical lame tourism weekend that most people get with the agency. They are offering Shannon $20,000 for a private tour of Ireland, seeking out the most remote and exclusive spots. Their teenage daughter Esme is in boarding school, but they are bringing their young son and his nanny, Philippa.

From the beginning, it’s clear the Conways have an ulterior motive for taking this trip. Rosalind is too rude, Donovan is too nice, and Barnaby and Philippa barely speak. The synopsis is slightly misleading, but we do know from it that they wish to harm Shannon. That’s a huge part of the mystery - why would this wealthy American couple want to kill a young Irishwoman who doesn’t even know them?

Their reasoning for wanting Shannon dead is a bit odd, but the uber-wealthy can be eccentric, so it definitely didn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. This was a very quick page turner, as you’re going to want to find out who this couple is, and why they want to kill Shannon. The book raced along into a shocking conclusion that I didn’t see coming. This is your perfect summer thriller - 4.5 stars!

Daniel Hurst gives us twist after twist in this one! Finished in a day!

Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland. Coincidentally, Donovan and Rosalind are traveling to Ireland and need a tour guide! What a coincidence, or maybe not?

If you love Freida McFadden or John Marrs, give Daniel Hurst a try! He won’t disappoint!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for this ARC.

5 stars out of 5!

Wow, this book really takes you on a trip! Daniel Hurst is quickly becoming a go to author for me. Everything I have read from him has been fantastic, The Family Trip was no exception. This book had me hooked immediately and kept me flipping the pages as quickly as I could. I did not want to put it down until the very last page. The characters were all well written and I really enjoyed Shannon and Barnaby. Donovan and Rosalind were just awful but that really contributed to the success of the book. The ending tied everything up nicely for the most part but I could also see a book number 2 in the series. If you are looking for a fast thrilling read, look no further!

I think the blurb is a little misleading that was written since Barnaby doesn't actually go missing. So Without giving too much away, in The Family Trip, we meet Shannon who is a tour guide in Ireland. She gets a private request from a wealthy couple from American for a tour of the secluded and off the beaten path spots for their trip. Shannon agrees and gets everything set up for their tour then meets the family at the airport. The tour seems to be going ok but Rosalind has been extremely rude to her. Finally the trip is coming to end with their last day, a beach day, for Donovan and Rosalind. Shannon finds a secluded beach where no one is so the couple can enjoy a nice day together while Barnaby is with his nanny back at the hotel. Shannon soon finds out these people are not what they seem and their trip takes a drastic turn.

Story is told from the POV of Rosalind the mother in the family and Shannon a tour guide.

Donovan and Rosalind Conway are a very wealthy American couple from Wellesley Massachusetts an affluent suburb of Boston. They are planning a trip to Ireland.
Rosalind contacts Shannon O’Shea a tour guide in Dublin to book a private tour of the area. Shannon is flattered that she was chosen but informs them that the tour company has set tours and doesn’t do private tours. When she is offered $20,000 an amazing amount of money for Shannon so she accepts and requests a week’s vacation and doesn’t tell her boss where she is going.

We find out that Rosalind and Donovan have known of Shannon from the time they lived in Ireland earlier ~ We readers don’t know the details only that they are planning something sinister.

Rosalind and Donovan come from ‘old money’ and are used to getting their way.
Rosalind is a nasty person able to intimidate people with just a look. Donovan calls her the assassin. She doesn’t bother to tell Shannon that the trip also includes their eight-year old son Barnaby and his nanny, Phillippa. Shannon has made arrangements based on just the two of them. Donovan assures her it is no problem as Barnaby will stay at the hotel with Phillippa.
Shannon quickly adjusts

Shannon continues to plan the best tour ever.
Rosalind continues to be nasty
Donovan continues to make excuses for Rosalind and is flirtatious to Shannon.

As the story continues my suspicious mind picks up on some hints as to why they want to get rid of Shannon.
That’s all I am going to say

This is my seventeenth Daniel Hurst thriller. Yep I am a fan.
Hurst is an entertaining writer who doesn’t disappoint.
I looked forward to this story as I was sure it would be exciting.
In this story Hurst’s psycho characters had me turning pages as fast as my eyes could focus.

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this great early e-Galley.

Oh my goodness. I've had sleepless nights reading this book. It was so addictive that I hated having to put it down and found myself thinking at stupid-o-clock ' I'll just read another chapter'. This was made easier as the chapters were fairly short, which I love, but also harder as they often ended on a mini cliff hanger! What a story. Full of twists and turns and with some really creepy characters. I loved It and just couldn't decide how It was going to end but the conclusion was good and I was pleased with the way it was written. Well done Daniel Hurst. Another cracking book. I can't wait for the next. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have been quite pleased with this authors books. They're fun, twisty and hook you so I get through the stories he pens quickly.

The blurb for this didn't quite match the plot. The son was never actually missing and Rosalind didn't ever know that he was anyways.

I ponder if we may hear from Seraphina in another book eventually. If so, I hope she's more likeable. I didn't find myself rooting for her at all.

Rosalind I liked better than Donovan. Don't know why. She was a terrible person. But I guess, you can empathize with the why she felt she was doing what she was doing. Not that they didn't take it beyind too far.

I liked the final twists quite a bit. Definitely not disappointed by how things played out...at all

When I started this book, it totally gave me Hostel vibes. A very wealthy couple books a trip to Ireland with a sinister intent. Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland that is living paycheck to paycheck. When she receives a request from Rosalind to be their tour guide for a huge fee, she just can't refuse. So many lies and secrets. This was definitely a page turner with some great twists; it was hard to put down.

I would have given this book 5 stars because it was hard to stop reading, but the synopsis of this book is so confusing, and I don't see where this happened in the book.

The description of this book doesn't really match the actual plot of this story. I do think the publisher/editors need to update the blurb on this.
When I started this within the first 20% of the book, I wanted to DNF it because of how awful one of the main characters is. She literally would make me mad reading it, but it was fast paced and so I kept with it. It was a quick read and kept me on my toes. Freida McFadden fans would enjoy reading this book/author. Fast paced story, twists and turns and once you think you have it figured out the final twist comes.

Two wealthy Americans travel to Ireland with their Son Barnaby. They hire a tour guide to take them on a private tour of all the unique remote places of Ireland. What the tour guide doesn't know is that this family came to Ireland for a reason and that reason is her. The book is Dual POV between the wife and the tour guide. The book description about a child going missing and them trying to find their child is really not the premise of this story. It more about the sinister wife and her plans for this tour guide. I'm glad i kept reading it as i did enjoy the book and read it really fast. I give it 4.5 Stars.

In The Family Trip by Daniel Hearst we meet tour guide Shannon O’Shay who is super excited to be guiding the rich Conways around Ireland for their vacation she knows if all goes well she will get more money than she’s ever had so when she first meets the couple Rosalynn, Donovan and their son Barnaby with his nanny Philippa she definitely has her best face on Donovan couldn’t be nicer Phillipa looks scared as a church mouse and that’s the rodent they most want little Barnaby to emulate. So when she starts finding the couple in lies and contradictions not to mention the shabby way Roslyn talks to her she doesn’t know what to make of it and this is just the first day. By the time she knows for a fact that these people may be a little off lives are in danger but not the life that was intended. Although I totally liked Shannon at first I really thought she wasn’t that great of a person by the time the book was over and Roslyn was a mess but Roslyn and Donovan together are nothing but trouble. He said that this is a traditional twisty herse book and I do believe we’re going to see another with characters from this one and I am so totally down to read that. I love the new her books and I always get so anxious knowing I have one download it in my Kindle and finally reading it is like scratching an itch you couldn’t get to initially. I love his books and can’t wait for the next one. I want to thank Bookoucher for my free ARC copy via NetGalley please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Rating: 3 stars!

Daniel Hurst was a new author find for me. The book bio and the book itself felt like they were two different stories. The story had some twist and turns, but the main character was so dulusional that it was hard to keep up. The ending reminds me of Freida Mcfaddens endings, which of course catches a reader off guard. While this book might not have been for me, I will definately be picking up another Daniel Hurst book in the future!

Title: The Family Trip
Author: Daniel Hurst

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🔪 Wow 🤯 I'm not sure where to begin. For starters, I can't trust any character in books anymore 🤣 Next, you might have money, but that doesn't mean you've got all you want and need to control life and all that it entails.

🩸This was truly an addictive book 📖 The plot was well laid out, details were planned out perfectly to the end. You've got a pleasant family with a hired nanny to take an ideal vacation 👏🏼

🔪 But your plan backfires pretty horribly in your face, not only does your son know the truth, but he finds out the truth and so do many others 🤯

🩸As wild and crazy of a ride this book was, I was on edge to know about Barnaby! Such a great thriller & and twisted read ⭐️

For those who enjoy psychological thrillers, you should preorder this book for the release on May 31st ✨

Another great book by Daniel Hurst. Lots of unexpected twists and the ending was fantastic,,,, I did not expect it. Seems like a sequel may be coming soon for this book.

Shannon O’Shea is a tour guide and a good one at that. However, her days aren’t exactly exciting and she never has any spare money. Therefore when an unexpected email lands in her inbox asking her for a bespoke private tour in return for $15,000, she is very tempted. It goes against company policy but it is just too good to ignore. This is how she meets Rosalind, Donovan, their son and the nanny, who are excited to return to Ireland where they used to live. However, from the moment she meets them, things just don’t quite feel right…

This is a very fast paced thriller. You think you know what’s happening but there are a few twists along the way with a satisfying end. As you finish one chapter, you will want to read just the next one (…and the one after…)… There are definitely no dull points in the story!

This is the second book I have read - and enjoyed - by this author. While there were a few predictable moments, the journey getting to the end was an entertaining one. And there was a twist in the last chapter that I didn't see coming. The epilogue does leave it open for a sequel, and I truly hope there is one so we can find out how the story really ends.

This was a super quick read that kept my attention throughout. There were few twists and turns along the way which kept the pages turning.

I like the way the ending wrapped up some loose ends and gave a happy ending.

I will recommend to my friends that read this genre.
